Qaloo ya salihuqad kunta feena marjuwwan qabla hatha atanhanaan naAAbuda ma yaAAbudu abaonawa-innana lafee shakkin mimma tadAAoonailayhi mureebun قالوا يا صالح قد كنت فينا مرجوا قبل هذا أتنهانا أن نعبد ما يعبد آباؤنا وإننا لفي شك مما تدعونا إليه مريب
قَالُواْ يَا صَالِحُ قَدْ كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّا قَبْلَ هَـذَا أَتَنْهَانَا أَن نَّعْبُدَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍ

  وہ بولے: اے صالح! اس سے قبل ہماری قوم میں تم ہی امیدوں کا مرکز تھے، کیا تم ہمیں ان (بتوں) کی پرستش کرنے سے روک رہے ہو جن کی ہمارے باپ دادا پرستش کرتے رہے ہیں؟ اور جس (توحید) کی طرف تم ہمیں بلا رہے ہو یقینًا ہم اس کے بارے میں بڑے اضطراب انگیز شک میں مبتلا ہیں

Yousuf AliThey said: "O Salih! thou hast been of us! a centre of our hopes hitherto! dost thou (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers worshipped? But we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which thou invitest us."

Ahmed Aliانہوں نے کہا اے صالح اس سے پہلے تو ہمیں تجھ سے بڑی امید تھی تم ہمیں ان معبودوں کے پوجنے سےمنع کرتے ہو جنہیں ہمارے باپ دادا پوجتے چلے آئے ہیں اورجس طرف تم ہمیں بلاتے ہو اس سے تو ہم بڑے شک میں ہیں
Ahmed Raza Khanبولے اے صا لح! اس سے پہلے تو تم ہم میں ہونہار معلوم ہوتے تھے کیا تم ہمیں اس سے منع کرتے ہو کہ اپنے باپ دادا کے معبودوں کو پوجیں اور بیشک جس بات کی طرف ہمیں بلاتے ہو ہم اس سے ایک بڑے دھوکا ڈالنے والے شک میں ہیں،
Shabbir Ahmed انہوں نے کہا: اے صالح! تھے تم ہم میں ایک ایسے شخص جس سے بڑی اُمیدیں وابستہ تھیں اس سے پہلے، کیا منع کرتے ہو تم ہمیں اس سے کہ عبادت کریں ہم اُن کی جن کی عبادت کرتے تھے ہمارے باپ دادا؟ اور یقیناً ہم شک میں مُبتلا ہیں اُس (طریقے) کے بارے میں، دعوت دے رہے، ہو تم ہمیں جس کی (اور اُس پر) دل نہیں جمتا۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyانہوں نے کہا کہ صالح اس سے پہلے ہم تم سے (کئی طرح کی) امیدیں رکھتے تھے (اب وہ منقطع ہوگئیں) کیا تم ہم کو ان چیزوں کے پوجنے سے منع کرتے ہو جن کو ہمارے بزرگ پوجتے آئے ہیں؟ اور جس بات کی طرف تم ہمیں بلاتے ہو، اس میں ہمیں قوی شبہ ہے
Mehmood Al Hassanبولے اے صالح تجھ سے تو ہم کو امید تھی اس سے پہلے کیا تو ہم کو منع کرتا ہے کہ پرستش کریں جنکی پرستش کرتے رہے ہمارے باپ دادے اور ہم کو تو شبہ ہے اس میں جس کی طرف تو بلاتا ہے ایسا کہ دل نہیں مانتا
Abul Ala Maududiانہوں نے کہا "اے صالحؑ، اس سے پہلے تو ہمارے درمیان ایسا شخص تھا جس سے بڑی توقعات وابستہ تھیں کیا تو ہمیں ان معبودوں کی پرستش سے روکنا چاہتا ہے جن کی پرستش ہمارے باپ دادا کرتے تھے؟ تو جس طریقے کی طرف ہمیں بلا رہا ہے اس کے بارے میں ہم کو سخت شبہ ہے جس نے ہمیں خلجان میں ڈال رکھا ہے"

You have been among us as a figure of good hope (and we wished for you to be our chief), till this (new thing which you have brought; that we leave our gods and worship your God (Allah) Alone)! Do you (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers have worshipped? But we are really in grave doubt as to that which you invite us to (monotheism)."
QXP Shabbir Ahemd**They said, "O Saleh! Great hopes We had placed in you before this! But now you are telling us to move away from worshiping what our forefathers worshiped. Verily, now we are in grave doubt, amounting to suspicion about the meaning of your call to us."
