Qala lan orsilahu maAAakum hattatu/tooni mawthiqan mina Allahi lata/tunnanee bihi illaan yuhata bikum falamma atawhu mawthiqahum qalaAllahu AAala ma naqoolu wakeelun قال لن أرسله معكم حتى تؤتون موثقا من الله لتأتنني به إلا أن يحاط بكم فلما آتوه موثقهم قال الله على ما نقول وكيل
قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّى تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِّنَ اللّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِي بِهِ إِلاَّ أَن يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ فَلَمَّا آتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ اللّهُ عَلَى مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ

  یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: میں اسے ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہیں بھیجوں گا یہاں تک کہ تم اﷲ کی قسم کھا کر مجھے پختہ وعدہ دو کہ تم اسے ضرور میرے پاس (واپس) لے آؤ گے سوائے اس کے کہ تم (سب) کو (کہیں) گھیر لیا جائے (یا ہلاک کر دیا جائے)، پھر جب انہوں نے یعقوب (علیہ السلام) کو اپنا پختہ عہد دے دیا تو یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: جو کچھ ہم کہہ رہے ہیں اس پر اﷲ نگہبان ہے

Yousuf Ali(Jacob) said: "Never will I send him with you until ye swear a solemn oath to me, in Allah's name, that ye will be sure to bring him back to me unless ye are yourselves hemmed in (and made powerless). And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Over all that we say, be Allah the witness and guardian!"

Ahmed Aliکہا اسے ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہیں بھیجوں گا یہاں تک کہ مجھے الله کا عہد دو کہ البتہ اسے میرے ہاں ضرور پہنچا دویں گے مگر یہ کہ تم سب گھر جاؤ پھر جب سب نے اسے عہد دیا کہا ہماری باتوں کا الله شاہد ہے
Ahmed Raza Khanکہا میں ہرگز اسے تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک تم مجھے کا اللہ کا یہ عہد نہ دے دو کہ ضرور اسے لے کر آ ؤ گے مگر یہ کہ تم گھِر جاؤ پھر انہوں نے یعقوب کو عہد دے دیا کہا اللہ کا ذمہ ہے ان باتوں پر جو کہہ رہے ہیں،
Shabbir Ahmed یعقوب نے کہا: میں ہرگز نہیں بھیجوں گا اسے تمہارے ساتھ جب تک کہ (نہ) دو تم مجھے پختہ عہد اللہ کے نام کا کہ تم ضرور لے آؤ گے میرے پاس اسے اِلَّا یہ کہ گھیر ہی لیے جاؤ تم۔ پھر جب دے دیا انہوں نے باپ کو پختہ عہد تو یعقوب نے کہا کہ اللہ ہے اس بات پر جو ہم کہہ رہے ہیں نگہبان۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary(یعقوب نے) کہا جب تک تم خدا کا عہد نہ دو کہ اس کو میرے پاس (صحیح سالم) لے آؤ گے میں اسے ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہیں بھیجنے کا۔ مگر یہ کہ تم گھیر لیے جاؤ (یعنی بےبس ہوجاؤ تو مجبوری ہے) جب انہوں نے ان سے عہد کرلیا تو (یعقوب نے) کہا کہ جو قول وقرار ہم کر رہے ہیں اس کا خدا ضامن ہے
Mehmood Al Hassanکہا ہر گز نہ بھیجوں گا اسکو تمہارے ساتھ یہاں تک کہ دو مجھ کو عہد خدا کا کہ البتہ پہنچا دو گے اسکو میرے پاس مگر یہ کہ گھیرے جاؤ تم سب پھر جب دیا اسکو سب نے عہد بولا اللہ ہماری باتوں پر نگہبان ہے
Abul Ala Maududiان کے باپ نے کہا "میں اس کو ہرگز تمہارے ساتھ نہ بھیجوں گا جب تک کہ تم اللہ کے نام سے مجھ کو پیمان نہ دے دو کہ اِسے میرے پا س ضرور واپس لے کر آؤ گے الا یہ کہ کہیں تم گھیر ہی لیے جاؤ" جب انہوں نے اس کو اپنے اپنے پیمان دے دیے تو اس نے کہا "دیکھو، ہمارے اس قول پر اللہ نگہبان ہے"

So when they gave him their promise/covenant, he said: "God (is) on what we say (a) guardian/trustee ."

Arberry He said, 'Never will I send him with you until you bring me a solemn pledge by God that you will surely bring him back to me unless it be that you are encompassed.' When they had brought him their solemn pledge he said, 'God shall be Guardian over what we say.'
ShakirHe said: I will by no means send him with you until you give me a firm covenant in Allah's name that you will most certainly bring him back to me, unless you are completely surrounded. And when they gave him their covenant, he said: Allah is the One in Whom trust is placed as regards what we say.
Sarwar(Jacob) said, "I shall not send him with you until you solemnly promise me before God to return him to me unless you are prevented from doing so." When they gave their promise, he said, "God is the Witness of what we have said".
H/K/Saheeh[Jacob] said, "Never will I send him with you until you give me a promise by Allah that you will bring him [back] to me, unless you should be surrounded by enemies." And when they had given their promise, he said, "Allah, over what we say, is Witness."
MalikJacob replied: "I will never send him with you until you pledge in the name of Allah that you will surely bring him back to me unless you become helpless." And when they had given their pledge, he said: "Allah is the Witness over the pledge you made."[66]

QXP Shabbir Ahemd**Jacob said, "I will not send him with you till you give me a solemn pledge in the name of Allah, that you will bring him back to me unless you get surrounded (by circumstances beyond control). And when they gave him their solemn pledge, he said, "Allah is the Warden over all we say."
