Qala bal sawwalat lakum anfusukumamran fasabrun jameelun AAasa Allahu anya/tiyanee bihim jameeAAan innahu huwa alAAaleemu alhakeemu قال بل سولت لكم أنفسكم أمرا فصبر جميل عسى الله أن يأتيني بهم جميعا إنه هو العليم الحكيم
قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ عَسَى اللّهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ

  یعقوب (علیہ السلام) نے فرمایا: (ایسا نہیں) بلکہ تمہارے نفسوں نے یہ بات تمہارے لئے مرغوب بنا دی ہے، اب صبر (ہی) اچھا ہے، قریب ہے کہ اﷲ ان سب کو میرے پاس لے آئے، بیشک وہ بڑا علم والا بڑی حکمت والا ہے

Yousuf AliJacob said: "Nay, but ye have yourselves contrived a story (good enough) for you. So patience is most fitting (for me). Maybe Allah will bring them (back) all to me (in the end). For He is indeed full of knowledge and wisdom."

Ahmed Aliکہا بلکہ تم نے دل سے ایک بات بنا لی ہے اب صبر ہی بہتر ہے الله سے امید ہے کہ شاید الله ان سب کو میرے پاس لے آئے وہی جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے
Ahmed Raza Khanکہا تمہارے نفس نے تمہیں کچھ حیلہ بنادیا، تو اچھا صبر ہے، قریب ہے کہ اللہ ان سب کو مجھ سے لا، ملائے بیشک وہی علم و حکمت والا ہے،
Shabbir Ahmed (اس پر) یعقوب نے کہا: نہیں بلکہ گھڑ لی ہے تمہارے لیے تمہارے نفس نے ایک بات۔ تو صبر ہی بہتر ہے، اُمید ہے کہ اللہ لے آئے گا میرے پاس ان سب کو۔ بے شک وہی ہے سب کچھ جاننے والا اور ہر کام حکمت کے مطابق کرنے والا۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandhary(جب انہوں نے یہ بات یعقوب سے آ کر کہی تو) انہوں نے کہا کہ (حقیقت یوں نہیں ہے) بلکہ یہ بات تم نے اپنے دل سے بنالی ہے تو صبر ہی بہتر ہے۔ عجب نہیں کہ خدا ان سب کو میرے پاس لے آئے۔ بےشک وہ دانا (اور) حکمت والا ہے

Abul Ala Maududiباپ نے یہ داستان سن کر کہا "دراصل تمہارے نفس نے تمہارے لیے ایک اور بڑی بات کو سہل بنا دیا اچھا اس پر بھی صبر کروں گا اور بخوبی کروں گا کیا بعید ہے کہ اللہ ان سب کو مجھ سے لا ملا ئے، وہ سب کچھ جانتا ہے اور اس کے سب کام حکمت پر مبنی ہیں"

LiteralHe (their father) said: "But your selves enticed/tolerated for you an order/command/matter/affair, so graceful patience, perhaps God that (He) brings them to me all together, that He (is) the knowledgeable, the wise/judicious ."
Yusuf AliJacob said: "Nay, but ye have yourselves contrived a story (good enough) for you. So patience is most fitting (for me). Maybe Allah will bring them (back) all to me (in the end). For He is indeed full of knowledge and wisdom."
Pickthal(And when they came unto their father and had spoken thus to him) he said: Nay, but your minds have beguiled you into something. (My course is) comely patience! It may be that Allah will bring them all unto me. Lo! He, only He, is the Knower, the Wise.
Arberry 'No!' he said 'But your spirits tempted you to do somewhat. But come, sweet patience! Haply God will bring them all to me; He is the All-knowing, the All-wise.'
ShakirHe (Yaqoub) said: Nay, your souls have made a matter light for you, so patience is good; maybe Allah will bring them all together to me; surely He is the Knowing, the Wise.
Sarwar(When he heard this), Jacob said, "Your souls have tempted you to make up the whole story. Let us be patient for perhaps God will bring them all back to me. God is certainly All-knowing and All-wise".
H/K/Saheeh[Jacob] said, "Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together. Indeed it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise."
MalikWhen they went back and told all this to their father, " No!" Cried their father, " Your souls have contrived a story for you. Well, I will bear this too with good patience. Maybe Allah will bring them all back to me; indeed He is the Knowledgeable, the Wise."[83]
Maulana Ali**He said: Nay, your souls have contrived an affair for you, so patience is good. Maybe Allah will bring them together to me. Surely He is the Knowing, the Wise.
