Daraba Allahu mathalan AAabdanmamlookan la yaqdiru AAala shay-in waman razaqnahuminna rizqan hasanan fahuwa yunfiqu minhu sirranwajahran hal yastawoona alhamdu lillahi balaktharuhum la yaAAlamoona ضرب الله مثلا عبدا مملوكا لا يقدر على شيء ومن رزقناه منا رزقا حسنا فهو ينفق منه سرا وجهرا هل يستوون الحمد لله بل أكثرهم لا يعلمون
ضَرَبَ اللّهُ مَثَلاً عَبْدًا مَّمْلُوكًا لاَّ يَقْدِرُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ وَمَن رَّزَقْنَاهُ مِنَّا رِزْقًا حَسَنًا فَهُوَ يُنفِقُ مِنْهُ سِرًّا وَجَهْرًا هَلْ يَسْتَوُونَ الْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ

  اللہ نے ایک مثال بیان فرمائی ہے (کہ) ایک غلام ہے (جو کسی کی) ملکیت میں ہے (خود) کسی چیز پر قدرت نہیں رکھتا اور (دوسرا) وہ شخص ہے جسے ہم نے اپنی طرف سے عمدہ روزی عطا فرمائی ہے سو وہ اس میں سے پوشیدہ اور ظاہر خرچ کرتا ہے، کیا وہ برابر ہو سکتے ہیں، سب تعریفیں اللہ کے لئے ہیں، بلکہ ان میں سے اکثر (بنیادی حقیقت کو بھی) نہیں جانتے

Yousuf AliAllah sets forth the Parable (of two men: one) a slave under the dominion of another; He has no power of any sort; and (the other) a man on whom We have bestowed goodly favours from Ourselves, and he spends thereof (freely), privately and publicly: are the two equal? (By no means;) praise be to Allah. But most of them understand not.

Ahmed Aliالله ایک مثال بیان فرماتا ہے ایک غلام ہے کسی دوسرے کی ملک میں جو کسی چیز کا اختیارنہیں رکھتا اور ایک دوسرا آدمی ہے جسے ہم نے اچھی روزی دے رکھی ہے اور وہ ظاہر اور پوشیدہ اسے خرچ کرتا ہے کیا دونوں برابر ہیں سب تعریف الله کے لیے ہے مگر اکثر ان میں سے نہیں جانتے
Ahmed Raza Khanاللہ نے ایک کہاوت بیان فرمائی ایک بندہ ہے دوسرے کی ملک آپ کچھ مقدور نہیں رکھتا اور ایک جسے ہم نے اپنی طرف سے اچھی روزی عطا فرمائی تو وہ اس میں سے خرچ کرتا ہے چھپے اور ظاہر کیا وہ برابر ہوجائیں گے سب خوبیاں اللہ کو ہیں بلکہ ان میں اکثر کو خبر نہیں
Shabbir Ahmed دیتا ہے اللہ ایک مثال کہ ایک بندہ جو غلام ہے (دوسرے کا) اور نہیں اختیار رکھتا ذرا بھی، اور (دوسرا) وہ شخص کہ عطا کیا ہو ہم نے اس کو اپنی طرف سے اچّھا رزق سو وہ خرچ کرتا ہو اس میں سے چھپے اور کُھلے۔ بھلا کہیں برابر ہوسکتے ہیں یہ دونوں؟ (ہرگز نہیں) سب تعریفیں اللہ ہی کے لیے ہیں لیکن اُن میں سے اکثر (یہ بات) نہیں جانتے۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyخدا ایک اور مثال بیان فرماتا ہے کہ ایک غلام ہے جو (بالکل) دوسرے کے اختیار میں ہے اور کسی چیز پر قدرت نہیں رکھتا اور ایک ایسا شخص ہے جس کو ہم نے اپنے ہاں سے (بہت سا) مال طیب عطا فرمایا ہے اور وہ اس میں سے (رات دن) پوشیدہ اور ظاہر خرچ کرتا رہتا ہے تو کیا یہ دونوں شخص برابر ہیں؟ (ہرگز نہیں) الحمدلله لیکن ان میں سے اکثر لوگ نہیں سمجھ رکھتے
Mehmood Al Hassanاللہ نے بتلائی ایک مثال ایک بندہ (غلام) پرایا مال نہیں قدرت رکھتا کسی چیز پر اور ایک جسکو ہم نے روزی دی اپنی طرف سے خاصی روزی سو وہ خرچ کرتا ہے اس میں سے چھپا کر اور سب کے روبرو کہیں برابر ہوتے ہیں سب تعریف اللہ کو ہے پر بہت لوگ نہیں جانتے
Abul Ala Maududiاللہ ایک مثال دیتا ہے ایک تو ہے غلام، جو دوسرے کا مملوک ہے اور خود کوئی اختیار نہیں رکھتا دوسرا شخص ایسا ہے جسے ہم نے اپنی طرف سے اچھا رزق عطا کیا ہے اور وہ اس میں سے کھلے اور چھپے خوب خرچ کرتا ہے بتاؤ، کیا یہ دونوں برابر ہیں؟ الحمدللہ، مگر اکثر لوگ (اس سیدھی بات کو) نہیں جانتے

LiteralGod gave an example , an owned slave/human , he is not capable/able on (of) a thing, and whom what We provided for him from Us a good/beautiful provision , so he spends from it secretly and publicly , do they become equal/alike? The praise/gratitude (is) to God, but most of them do not know.

PickthalAllah coineth a similitude: (on the one hand) a (mere) chattel slave, who hath control of nothing, and (on the other hand) one on whom we have bestowed a fair provision from Us, and he spendeth thereof secretly and openly. Are they equal? Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not.
Arberry God has struck a similitude: a servant possessed by his master, having no power over anything, and one whom We have provided of Ourselves with a provision fair, and he expends of it secretly and openly. Are they equal? Praise belongs to God! Nay, most of them know not.
ShakirAllah sets forth a parable: (consider) a slave, the property of another, (who) has no power over anything, and one whom We have granted from Ourselves a goodly sustenance so he spends from it secretly and openly; are the two alike? (All) praise is due to Allah! Nay, most of them do not know.
SarwarGod tells a parable about a helpless servant and one to whom He has given honorable provisions and who has spent for the cause of God privately and in public. Can these two people be considered equal? It is only God who deserves all praise, but most people do not know.
H/K/SaheehAllah presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allah! But most of them do not know.
MalikAllah gives you another example of two men: one of them is a slave, the property of the other, and has no power over anything; and the other man is one on whom We have bestowed Our bounty, from which he freely spends secretly and openly. Ask them: "Are those two men equal?" Praise be to Allah - most of them do not understand this simple thing.[75]
Maulana Ali**Allah sets forth a parable: There is a slave, the property of another, controlling naught, and there is one to whom we have granted from ourselves goodly provisions, so he spends from it secretly and openly. Are the two alike? Praise be to Allah! Nay, most of them know not.
Free MindsGod puts forth the example of a slave who is owned and cannot achieve anything, against one whom We have provided a good provision which he spends of it secretly and openly. Are they the same? God be praised, but most of them do not know.
Qaribullah Allah strikes a parable. A servant owned by his master, having no power over anything, and one to whom We have given from Us a fine provision who spends it secretly and openly, are they equal? Praise be to Allah! No, most of them do not know!
George SaleGod propoundeth as a parable a possessed slave, who hath power over nothing, and him on whom we have bestowed a good provision from us, and who giveth alms thereout both secretly and openly: Shall these two be esteemed equal? God forbid! But the greater part of them know it not.

Khalifa**GOD cites the example of a slave who is owned, and is totally powerless, compared to one whom we blessed with good provisions, from which he gives to charity secretly and publicly. Are they equal? Praise be to GOD, most of them do not know.
Hilali/Khan**Allah puts forward the example (of two men a believer and a disbeliever); a slave (disbeliever) under the possession of another, he has no power of any sort, and (the other), a man (believer) on whom We have bestowed a good provision from Us, and He spends thereof secretly and openly. Can they be equal? (By no means, not). All the praises and thanks be to Allah. Nay! (But) most of them know not.
QXP Shabbir Ahemd**Allah gives you an example of two men; one of them is enslaved, unable to do anything of his own accord. And the other is a free man whom We have blessed with Our bounties, and he can spend of it on others secretly and openly. Can these two be deemed equal? Praise be to Allah! (So, praise Him by way of obedience). But the majority of humans do not understand that verbal thanks do not equal practical gratitude.
