Wa-ith akhathna meethaqabanee isra-eela la taAAbudoona illa Allahawabialwalidayni ihsanan watheealqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeniwaqooloo lilnnasi husnan waaqeemoo alssalatawaatoo alzzakata thumma tawallaytum illaqaleelan minkum waantum muAAridoona وإذ أخذنا ميثاق بني إسرائيل لا تعبدون إلا الله وبالوالدين إحسانا وذي القربى واليتامى والمساكين وقولوا للناس حسنا وأقيموا الصلاة وآتوا الزكاة ثم توليتم إلا قليلا منكم وأنتم معرضون
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَ بَنِىْ إِسْرَائِيلَ لاَ تَعْبُدُونَ إِلاَّ اللّهَ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَاناً وَّذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَقُولُواْ لِلنَّاسِ حُسْناً وَّأَقِيمُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتُواْ الزَّكَاةَ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ إِلاَّ قَلِيْلاً مِّنكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ مُّعْرِضُونَ

  اور (یاد کرو) جب ہم نے اولادِ یعقوب سے پختہ وعدہ لیا کہ اللہ کے سوا (کسی اور کی) عبادت نہ کرنا، اور ماں باپ کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرنا اور قرابت داروں اور یتیموں اور محتاجوں کے ساتھ بھی (بھلائی کرنا) اور عام لوگوں سے (بھی نرمی اور خوش خُلقی کے ساتھ) نیکی کی بات کہنا اور نماز قائم رکھنا اور زکوٰۃ دیتے رہنا، پھر تم میں سے چند لوگوں کے سوا سارے (اس عہد سے) رُوگرداں ہو گئے اور تم (حق سے) گریز ہی کرنے والے ہو

Yousuf AliAnd remember We took a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect): Worship none but Allah; treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Ahmed Aliاور جب ہم نے بنی اسرائیل سے عہد لیا کہ الله کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرنا اور ماں باپ اور رشتہ داروں اور یتیموں اور محتاجوں سے اچھا سلوک کرنا اور لوگوں سے اچھی بات کہنا اور نماز قائم کرنا اور زکوةٰ دینا پھر سوائے چند آدمیوں کے تم میں سے سب منہ موڑ کر پھر گئے

Abul Ala Maududiیاد کرو، اسرائیل کی اولاد سے ہم نے پختہ عہد لیا تھا کہ اللہ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرنا، ماں باپ کے ساتھ، رشتے داروں کے ساتھ، یتیموں اور مسکینوں کے ساتھ نیک سلوک کرنا، لوگوں سے بھلی بات کہنا، نماز قائم کرنا اور زکوٰۃ دینا، مگر تھوڑے آدمیوں کے سو ا تم سب اس عہد سے پھر گئے اور اب تک پھر ے ہوئے ہو

Hilali/Khan**And (remember) when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none but Allah (Alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, and to orphans and Al-Masakeen (the poor), (Tafsir At-Tabaree, Vol. 10, Page 158 (Verse 9:60)) and speak good to people (i.e. enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, and say the truth about Muhammad Peace be upon him ), and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat. Then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubee, Vol. 2, Page 392).

When We made a promise with the Children of Israel, (We said), "Serve none save Allah, and be kind to your parents, and to relatives, and to orphans, widows, and to the needy - those left alone in the society, and those whose income has stalled for any reason. And speak to people and treat them nicely, and establish the Divine System in the society, and set up the Just Economic Order (keeping your wealth open for the benefit of all)." Then, after that, you slid back, except a few of you, and you backslide even now.
