Waheela baynahum wabayna mayashtahoona kama fuAAila bi-ashyaAAihim min qabluinnahum kanoo fee shakkin mureebin وحيل بينهم وبين ما يشتهون كما فعل بأشياعهم من قبل إنهم كانوا في شك مريب
وَحِيلَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ مَا يَشْتَهُونَ كَمَا فُعِلَ بِأَشْيَاعِهِم مِّن قَبْلُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا فِي شَكٍّ مُّرِيبٍ

  اور ان کے اور ان کی خواہشات کے درمیان رکاوٹ ڈال دی گئی جیسا کہ پہلے اُن کے مثل گروہوں کے ساتھ کیا گیا تھا۔ بیشک وہ دھوکہ میں ڈالنے والے شک میں مبتلا تھے

Yousuf AliAnd between them and their desires, is placed a barrier, as was done in the past with their partisans: for they were indeed in suspicious (disquieting) doubt.

Ahmed Aliاور ان میں اور ان کی خواہش میں آڑ کر دی جائے گی جیسا کہ ان کے ہم خیال لوگوں کے ساتھ اس سے پہلے کیا گیا بے شک وہ بھی حیرت انگیز شک میں پڑے ہوئے تھے

Abul Ala Maududiاُس وقت جس چیز کی یہ تمنا کر رہے ہوں گے اس سے محروم کر دیے جائیں گے جس طرح اِن کے پیش رو ہم مشرب محروم ہو چکے ہوں گے یہ بڑے گمراہ کن شک میں پڑے ہوئے تھے

MalikA barrier will be placed between them and what they desired to have as was done with the similar people before them; for they were indeed involved in a misleading suspicion.[54]

[I.e., a suspicion that all moral postulates were but meant to deprive them of what they considered to be the "legitimate advantages" of life in this world.]
Khalifa**Consequently, they were deprived of everything they longed for. This is the same fate as their counterparts in the previous generations. They harbored too many doubts.
Hilali/Khan**And a barrier will be set between them and that which they desire (i.e. At-Taubah (turning to Allah in repentance) and the accepting of Faith etc.), as was done in the past with the people of their kind. Verily, they have been in grave doubt.
QXP Shabbir Ahemd**As a result, a barrier will be set between them and what they desired, as will be done for people of their kind of older times. For, behold, they too were lost in doubt, suspicion.
