| 1. [37:1] | Waalssaffati saffan |  والصافات صفاوَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا | |||||

| Yousuf Ali | By those who range themselves in ranks,
| ||||||
| Words | |والصافات - By those lined| صفا - (in) rows,| | ||||||
| 2. [37:2] | Faalzzajirati zajran | فالزاجرات زجرا فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر بادلوں کو کھینچ کر لے جانے والی یا برائیوں پر سختی سے جھڑکنے والی جماعتوں کی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And so are strong in repelling (evil),
| ||||||
| Words | |فالزاجرات - And those who drive| زجرا - strongly,| | ||||||
| 3. [37:3] | Faalttaliyati thikran | فالتاليات ذكرا فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر ذکرِ الٰہی (یا قرآن مجید) کی تلاوت کرنے والی جماعتوں کی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah)!

| Words | |فالتاليات - And those who recite| ذكرا - (the) Message,| | ||||||
| 4. [37:4] | Inna ilahakum lawahidun | إن إلهكم لواحد إِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بے شک تمہارا معبود ایک ہی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily, verily, your Allah is one!-
| ||||||
| Words | |إن - Indeed,| إلهكم - your Lord| لواحد - (is) surely One,| | ||||||
| 5. [37:5] | Rabbu alssamawati waal-ardiwama baynahuma warabbu almashariqi | رب السماوات والأرض وما بينهما ورب المشارق رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (جو) آسمانوں اور زمین کا اور جو (مخلوق) اِن دونوں کے درمیان ہے اس کا رب ہے، اور طلوعِ آفتاب کے تمام مقامات کا رب ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!

| Words | |رب - Lord| السماوات - (of) the heavens| والأرض - and the earth,| وما - and what| بينهما - (is) between both of them| ورب - and Lord| المشارق - (of) each point of sunrise.| | ||||||
| 6. [37:6] | Inna zayyanna alssamaaalddunya bizeenatin alkawakibi | إنا زينا السماء الدنيا بزينة الكواكب إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بے شک ہم نے آسمانِ دنیا (یعنی پہلے کرّۂ سماوی) کو ستاروں اور سیاروں کی زینت سے آراستہ کر دیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,-
| ||||||
| Words | |إنا - Indeed, We| زينا - [We] adorned| السماء - the sky| الدنيا - [the world]| بزينة - with an adornment| الكواكب - (of) the stars.| | ||||||
| 7. [37:7] | Wahifthan min kulli shaytaninmaridin | وحفظا من كل شيطان مارد وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّارِدٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (انہیں) ہر سرکش شیطان سے محفوظ بنایا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits,
| ||||||
| Words | |وحفظا - And (to) guard| من - against| كل - every| شيطان - devil| مارد - rebellious,| | ||||||
| 8. [37:9] | Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasibun | دحورا ولهم عذاب واصب دُحُورًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اُن کو بھگانے کے لئے اور اُن کے لئے دائمی عذاب ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty,
| ||||||
| Words | |دحورا - Repelled;| ولهم - and for them| عذاب - (is) a punishment| واصب - perpetual,| | ||||||
| 9. [37:12] | Bal AAajibta wayaskharoona | بل عجبت ويسخرون بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بلکہ آپ تعجب فرماتے ہیں اور وہ مذاق اڑاتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule,
| ||||||
| Words | |بل - Nay,| عجبت - you wonder,| ويسخرون - while they mock.| | ||||||
| 10. [37:13] | Wa-itha thukkiroo la yathkuroona | وإذا ذكروا لا يذكرون وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب انہیں نصیحت کی جاتی ہے تو نصیحت قبول نہیں کرتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,-
| ||||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| ذكروا - they are reminded,| لا - not| يذكرون - they receive admonition.| | ||||||
| 11. [37:14] | Wa-itha raaw ayatanyastaskhiroona | وإذا رأوا آية يستسخرون وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب کوئی نشانی دیکھتے ہیں تو تمسخر کرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery,
| ||||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| رأوا - they see| آية - a Sign,| يستسخرون - they mock,| | ||||||
| 12. [37:8] | La yassammaAAoona ila almala-ial-aAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janibin | لا يسمعون إلى الملإ الأعلى ويقذفون من كل جانب لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَى وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ (شیاطین) عالمِ بالا کی طرف کان نہیں لگا سکتے اور اُن پر ہر طرف سے (انگارے) پھینکے جاتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side,

| Words | |لا - Not| يسمعون - they may listen| إلى - to| الملإ - the assembly| الأعلى - [the] exalted,| ويقذفون - are pelted| من - from| كل - every| جانب - side,| | ||||||
| 13. [37:10] | Illa man khatifa alkhatfatafaatbaAAahu shihabun thaqibun | إلا من خطف الخطفة فأتبعه شهاب ثاقب إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | مگر جو (شیطان) ایک بار جھپٹ کر (فرشتوں کی کوئی بات) اُچک لے تو چمکتا ہوا انگارہ اُس کے پیچھے لگ جاتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness.

| Words | |إلا - Except| من - (him) who| خطف - snatches| الخطفة - (by) theft| فأتبعه - but follows him| شهاب - a burning flame,| ثاقب - piercing.| | ||||||
| 14. [37:11] | Faistaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan amman khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teeninlazibin | فاستفتهم أهم أشد خلقا أم من خلقنا إنا خلقناهم من طين لازب فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَا إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اِن سے پوچھئے کہ کیا یہ لوگ تخلیق کئے جانے میں زیادہ سخت (اور مشکل) ہیں یا وہ چیزیں جنہیں ہم نے (آسمانی کائنات میں) تخلیق فرمایا ہے، بیشک ہم نے اِن لوگوں کو چپکنے والے گارے سے پیدا کیا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay!

| Words | |فاستفتهم - Then ask them,| أهم - "Are they| أشد - a stronger| خلقا - creation| أم - or| من - (those) whom| خلقنا - We have created?"| إنا - Indeed, We| خلقناهم - created them| من - from| طين - a clay| لازب - sticky.| | ||||||
| 15. [37:17] | Awa abaona al-awwaloona | أوآباؤنا الأولون أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کیا ہمارے اگلے باپ دادا بھی (اٹھائے جائیں گے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "And also our fathers of old?"
| ||||||
| Words | |أوآباؤنا - Or our fathers| الأولون - former?"| | ||||||
| 16. [37:18] | Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroona | قل نعم وأنتم داخرون قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | فرما دیجئے: ہاں اور (بلکہ) تم ذلیل و رسوا (بھی) ہو گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say thou: "Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil)."
| ||||||
| Words | |قل - Say,| نعم - "Yes,| وأنتم - and you| داخرون - (will be) humiliated."| | ||||||
| 17. [37:24] | Waqifoohum innahum masooloona | وقفوهم إنهم مسئولون وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُم مَّسْئُولُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور انہیں (صراط کے پاس) روکو، اُن سے پوچھ گچھ ہوگی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "But stop them, for they must be asked:
| ||||||
| Words | |وقفوهم - And stop them;| إنهم - indeed, they| مسئولون - (are) to be questioned."| | ||||||
| 18. [37:25] | Ma lakum la tanasaroona | ما لكم لا تناصرون مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اُن سے کہا جائے گا:) تمہیں کیا ہوا تم ایک دوسرے کی مدد نہیں کرتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'"
| ||||||
| Words | |ما - "What| لكم - (is) for you?| لا - (Why) not| تناصرون - you help one another?"| | ||||||
| 19. [37:15] | Waqaloo in hatha illasihrun mubeenun | وقالوا إن هذا إلا سحر مبين وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو صرف کھلا جادو ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery!
| ||||||
| Words | |وقالوا - And they say,| إن - "Not| هذا - (is) this| إلا - except| سحر - a magic| مبين - clear.| | ||||||
| 20. [37:16] | A-itha mitna wakunnaturaban waAAithaman a-innalamabAAoothoona | أإذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما أإنا لمبعوثون أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا جب ہم مر جائیں گے اور ہم مٹی اور ہڈیاں ہو جائیں گے تو ہم یقینی طور پر (دوبارہ زندہ کر کے) اٹھائے جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again)
| ||||||
| Words | |أإذا - Is it when| متنا - we are dead| وكنا - and have become| ترابا - dust| وعظاما - and bones,| أإنا - shall we then| لمبعوثون - be certainly resurrected,| | ||||||
| 21. [37:19] | Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahidatunfa-itha hum yanthuroona | فإنما هي زجرة واحدة فإذا هم ينظرون فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس وہ تو محض ایک (زور دار آواز کی) سخت جھڑک ہوگی سو سب اچانک (اٹھ کر) دیکھنے لگ جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see!

| Words | |فإنما - Then only| هي - it| زجرة - (will be) a cry| واحدة - single,| فإذا - then, behold!| هم - They| ينظرون - will see.| | ||||||
| 22. [37:20] | Waqaloo ya waylana hathayawmu alddeeni | وقالوا يا ويلنا هذا يوم الدين وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کہیں گے: ہائے ہماری شامت! یہ تو جزا کا دن ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They will say, "Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!"
| ||||||
| Words | |وقالوا - And they will say,| يا - O| ويلنا - "O woe to us!| هذا - This| يوم - (is the) Day| الدين - (of) the Recompense."| | ||||||
| 23. [37:21] | Hatha yawmu alfasli allatheekuntum bihi tukaththiboona | هذا يوم الفصل الذي كنتم به تكذبون هَذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (کہا جائے گا: ہاں) یہ وہی فیصلہ کا دن ہے جسے تم جھٹلایا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (A voice will say,) "This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!"
| ||||||
| Words | |هذا - "This| يوم - (is the) Day| الفصل - (of) Judgment| الذي - which| كنتم - you used to| به - [of it]| تكذبون - deny."| | ||||||
| 24. [37:26] | Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoona | بل هم اليوم مستسلمون بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (وہ مدد کیا کریں گے) بلکہ آج تو وہ خود گردنیں جھکائے کھڑے ہوں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment);
| ||||||
| Words | |بل - Nay,| هم - they| اليوم - (on) that Day| مستسلمون - (will) surrender.| | ||||||
| 25. [37:32] | Faaghwaynakum inna kunnaghaweena | فأغويناكم إنا كنا غاوين فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو ہم نے تمہیں گمراہ کر دیا بے شک ہم خود گمراہ تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray."
| ||||||
| Words | |فأغويناكم - So we led you astray;| إنا - indeed, we| كنا - were| غاوين - astray."| | ||||||
| 26. [37:22] | Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoowaazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona | احشروا الذين ظلموا وأزواجهم وما كانوا يعبدون احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اُن (سب) لوگوں کو جمع کرو جنہوں نے ظلم کیا اور ان کے ساتھیوں اور پیروکاروں کو (بھی) اور اُن (معبودانِ باطلہ) کو (بھی) جنہیں وہ پوجا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped-

| Words | |احشروا - Gather| الذين - those who| ظلموا - wronged,| وأزواجهم - and their kinds| وما - and what| كانوا - they used (to)| يعبدون - worship| | ||||||
| 27. [37:23] | Min dooni Allahi faihdoohum ilasirati aljaheemi | من دون الله فاهدوهم إلى صراط الجحيم مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ کو چھوڑ کر، پھر ان سب کو دوزخ کی راہ پر لے چلو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire!

| Words | |من - Besides| دون - Besides| الله - Allah,| فاهدوهم - then lead them| إلى - to| صراط - (the) Path| الجحيم - (of) the Hellfire.| | ||||||
| 28. [37:27] | Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloona | وأقبل بعضهم على بعض يتساءلون وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور وہ ایک دوسرے کی طرف متوجہ ہوکر باہم سوال کریں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And they will turn to one another, and question one another.
| ||||||
| Words | |وأقبل - And will approach| بعضهم - some of them| على - to| بعض - others| يتساءلون - questioning one another.| | ||||||
| 29. [37:28] | Qaloo innakum kuntum ta/toonanaAAani alyameeni | قالوا إنكم كنتم تأتوننا عن اليمين قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ کہیں گے: بے شک تم ہی تو ہمارے پاس دائیں طرف سے (یعنی اپنے حق پر ہونے کی قَسمیں کھاتے ہوئے) آیا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!"
| ||||||
| Words | |قالوا - They will say,| إنكم - "Indeed, you| كنتم - [you] used (to)| تأتوننا - come (to) us| عن - from| اليمين - the right."| | ||||||
| 30. [37:29] | Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mu/mineena | قالوا بل لم تكونوا مؤمنين قَالُوا بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (انہیں گمراہ کرنے والے پیشوا) کہیں گے: بلکہ تم خود ہی ایمان لانے والے نہ تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!
| ||||||
| Words | |قالوا - They will say,| بل - "Nay,| لم - not| تكونوا - you were| مؤمنين - believers,| | ||||||
