| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [38:88] | WalataAAlamunna nabaahu baAAda heenin |  ولتعلمن نبأه بعد حينوَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُ بَعْدَ حِينٍ | |||||

| Yousuf Ali | "And ye shall certainly know the truth of it (all) after a while."

| 2. [38:18] | Inna sakhkharna aljibalamaAAahu yusabbihna bialAAashiyyi waal-ishraqi | إنا سخرنا الجبال معه يسبحن بالعشي والإشراق إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا الْجِبَالَ مَعَهُ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِشْرَاقِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بے شک ہم نے پہاڑوں کو اُن کے زیرِ فرمان کر دیا تھا، جو (اُن کے ساتھ مل کر) شام کو اور صبح کو تسبیح کیا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | It was We that made the hills declare, in unison with him, Our Praises, at eventide and at break of day,

| 3. [38:19] | Waalttayra mahshooratankullun lahu awwabun | والطير محشورة كل له أواب وَالطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً كُلٌّ لَّهُ أَوَّابٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور پرندوں کو بھی جو (اُن کے پاس) جمع رہتے تھے، ہر ایک ان کی طرف (اطاعت کے لئے) رجوع کرنے والا تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And the birds gathered (in assemblies): all with him did turn (to Allah).

| 4. [38:20] | Washadadna mulkahu waataynahualhikmata wafasla alkhitabi | وشددنا ملكه وآتيناه الحكمة وفصل الخطاب وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ الْخِطَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے اُن کے ملک و سلطنت کو مضبوط کر دیا تھا اور ہم نے انہیں حکمت و دانائی اور فیصلہ کن اندازِ خطاب عطا کیا تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We strengthened his kingdom, and gave him wisdom and sound judgment in speech and decision.

| 5. [38:21] | Wahal ataka nabao alkhasmi ithtasawwaroo almihraba | وهل أتاك نبأ الخصم إذ تسوروا المحراب وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ نَبَأُ الْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا الْمِحْرَابَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کیا آپ کے پاس جھگڑنے والوں کی خبر پہنچی؟ جب وہ دیوار پھاند کر (داؤد علیہ السلام کی) عبادت گاہ میں داخل ہو گئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Has the Story of the Disputants reached thee? Behold, they climbed over the wall of the private chamber;

[38:23] | Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAunwatisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqalaakfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitabi | إن هذا أخي له تسع وتسعون نعجة ولي نعجة واحدة فقال أكفلنيها وعزني في الخطاب إِنَّ هَذَا أَخِي لَهُ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِيَ نَعْجَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِي فِي الْخِطَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بے شک یہ میرا بھائی ہے، اِس کی ننانوے دُنبیاں ہیں اور میرے پاس ایک ہی دُنبی ہے، پھر کہتا ہے یہ (بھی) میرے حوالہ کر دو اور گفتگو میں (بھی) مجھے دبا لیتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "This man is my brother: He has nine and ninety ewes, and I have (but) one: Yet he says, 'commit her to my care,' and is (moreover) harsh to me in speech."

[38:22] | Ith dakhaloo AAala dawoodafafaziAAa minhum qaloo la takhaf khasmanibagha baAAduna AAala baAAdinfaohkum baynana bialhaqqi walatushtit waihdina ila sawa-ialssirati | إذ دخلوا على داوود ففزع منهم قالوا لا تخف خصمان بغى بعضنا على بعض فاحكم بيننا بالحق ولا تشطط واهدنا إلى سواء الصراط إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَى دَاوُودَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ خَصْمَانِ بَغَى بَعْضُنَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ فَاحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَاهْدِنَا إِلَى سَوَاءِ الصِّرَاطِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جب وہ داؤد (علیہ السلام) کے پاس اندر آگئے تو وہ اُن سے گھبرائے، انہوں نے کہا: گھبرائیے نہیں، ہم (ایک) مقدّمہ میں دو فریق ہیں، ہم میں سے ایک نے دوسرے پر زیادتی کی ہے۔ آپ ہمارے درمیان حق و انصاف کے ساتھ فیصلہ کر دیں اور حد سے تجاوز نہ کریں اور ہمیں سیدھی راہ کی طرف رہبری کر دیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When they entered the presence of David, and he was terrified of them, they said: "Fear not: we are two disputants, one of whom has wronged the other: Decide now between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, but guide us to the even Path..

| 8. [38:25] | Faghafarna lahu thalikawa-inna lahu AAindana lazulfa wahusna maabin | فغفرنا له ذلك وإن له عندنا لزلفى وحسن مآب فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَلِكَ وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَى وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تو ہم نے اُن کو معاف فرما دیا، اور بے شک اُن کے لئے ہماری بارگاہ میں قربِ خاص ہے اور (آخرت میں) اَعلیٰ مقام ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So We forgave him this (lapse): he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful place of (Final) Return.

[38:24] | Qala laqad thalamakabisu-ali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wa-innakatheeran mina alkhulata-i layabghee baAAduhum AAalabaAAdin illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo alssalihati waqaleelun mahum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahufaistaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanaba | قال لقد ظلمك بسؤال نعجتك إلى نعاجه وإن كثيرا من الخلطاء ليبغي بعضهم على بعض إلا الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وقليل ما هم وظن داوود أنما فتناه فاستغفر ربه وخر راكعا وأناب قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَى نِعَاجِهِ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الْخُلَطَاءِ لَيَبْغِي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَّا هُمْ وَظَنَّ دَاوُودُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | داؤد (علیہ السلام) نے کہا: تمہاری دُنبی کو اپنی دُنبیوں سے ملانے کا سوال کر کے اس نے تم سے زیادتی کی ہے اور بیشک اکثر شریک ایک دوسرے پر زیادتی کرتے ہیں سوائے اُن لوگوں کے جو ایمان لائے اور نیک عمل کئے، اور ایسے لوگ بہت کم ہیں۔ اور داؤد (علیہ السلام) نے خیال کیا کہ ہم نے (اس مقدّمہ کے ذریعہ) اُن کی آزمائش کی ہے، سو انہوں نے اپنے رب سے مغفرت طلب کی اور سجدہ میں گر پڑے اور توبہ کی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (David) said: "He has undoubtedly wronged thee in demanding thy (single) ewe to be added to his (flock of) ewes: truly many are the partners (in business) who wrong each other: Not so do those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and how few are they?"...and David gathered that We had tried him: he asked forgiveness of his Lord, fell down, bowing (in prostration), and turned (to Allah in repentance).

[38:26] | Ya dawoodu inna jaAAalnakakhaleefatan fee al-ardi faohkum bayna alnnasibialhaqqi wala tattabiAAi alhawa fayudillakaAAan sabeeli Allahi inna allatheena yadilloonaAAan sabeeli Allahi lahum AAathabun shadeedun bimanasoo yawma alhisabi | يا داوود إنا جعلناك خليفة في الأرض فاحكم بين الناس بالحق ولا تتبع الهوى فيضلك عن سبيل الله إن الذين يضلون عن سبيل الله لهم عذاب شديد بما نسوا يوم الحساب يَا دَاوُودُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاكَ خَلِيفَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ فَاحْكُم بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ الْهَوَى فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ بِمَا نَسُوا يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے داؤد! بے شک ہم نے آپ کو زمین میں (اپنا) نائب بنایا سو تم لوگوں کے درمیان حق و انصاف کے ساتھ فیصلے (یا حکومت) کیا کرو اور خواہش کی پیروی نہ کرنا ورنہ (یہ پیروی) تمہیں راہِ خدا سے بھٹکا دے گی، بے شک جو لوگ اﷲ کی راہ سے بھٹک جاتے ہیں اُن کے لئے سخت عذاب ہے اس وجہ سے کہ وہ یومِ حساب کو بھول گئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O David! We did indeed make thee a vicegerent on earth: so judge thou between men in truth (and justice): Nor follow thou the lusts (of thy heart), for they will mislead thee from the Path of Allah: for those who wander astray from the Path of Allah, is a Penalty Grievous, for that they forget the Day of Account.

[38:27] | Wama khalaqna alssamaawaal-arda wama baynahuma batilanthalika thannu allatheena kafaroofawaylun lillatheena kafaroo mina alnnari | وما خلقنا السماء والأرض وما بينهما باطلا ذلك ظن الذين كفروا فويل للذين كفروا من النار وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاءَ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَاطِلًا ذَلِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنَ النَّارِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے آسمانوں کو اور زمین کو اور جو کائنات دونوں کے درمیان ہے اسے بے مقصد و بے مصلحت نہیں بنایا۔ یہ (بے مقصد یعنی اتفاقیہ تخلیق) کافر لوگوں کا خیال و نظریہ ہے۔ سو کافر لوگوں کے لئے آتشِ دوزخ کی ہلاکت ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Not without purpose did We create heaven and earth and all between! that were the thought of Unbelievers! but woe to the Unbelievers because of the Fire (of Hell)!

[38:28] | Am najAAalu allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo alssalihati kaalmufsideenafee al-ardi am najAAalu almuttaqeena kaalfujjari | أم نجعل الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات كالمفسدين في الأرض أم نجعل المتقين كالفجار أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَالْمُفْسِدِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الْمُتَّقِينَ كَالْفُجَّارِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا ہم اُن لوگوں کو جو ایمان لائے اور اعمالِ صالحہ بجا لائے اُن لوگوں جیسا کر دیں گے جو زمین میں فساد بپا کرنے والے ہیں یا ہم پرہیزگاروں کو بدکرداروں جیسا بنا دیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Shall We treat those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, the same as those who do mischief on earth? Shall We treat those who guard against evil, the same as those who turn aside from the right?

| 13. [38:29] | Kitabun anzalnahu ilayka mubarakunliyaddabbaroo ayatihi waliyatathakkara olooal-albabi | كتاب أنزلناه إليك مبارك ليدبروا آياته وليتذكر أولو الألباب كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُوا الْأَلْبَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ کتاب برکت والی ہے جسے ہم نے آپ کی طرف نازل فرمایا ہے تاکہ دانش مند لوگ اس کی آیتوں میں غور و فکر کریں اور نصیحت حاصل کریں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Here is) a Book which We have sent down unto thee, full of blessings, that they may mediate on its Signs, and that men of understanding may receive admonition.

| 14. [38:30] | Wawahabna lidawooda sulaymananiAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun | ووهبنا لداوود سليمان نعم العبد إنه أواب وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُودَ سُلَيْمَانَ نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے داؤد (علیہ السلام) کو (فرزند) سلیمان (علیہ السلام) بخشا، وہ کیا خوب بندہ تھا، بے شک وہ بڑی کثرت سے توبہ کرنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)!

| Words | |ووهبنا - And We gave| لداوود - to Dawood| سليمان - Sulaiman,| نعم - an excellent| العبد - slave.| إنه - Indeed, he| أواب - (was) one who repeatedly turned.| | ||||||
| 15. [38:31] | Ith AAurida AAalayhi bialAAashiyyialssafinatu aljiyadu | إذ عرض عليه بالعشي الصافنات الجياد إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِالْعَشِيِّ الصَّافِنَاتُ الْجِيَادُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جب اُن کے سامنے شام کے وقت نہایت سُبک رفتار عمدہ گھوڑے پیش کئے گئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot;

| 16. [38:32] | Faqala innee ahbabtu hubbaalkhayri AAan thikri rabbee hatta tawaratbialhijabi | فقال إني أحببت حب الخير عن ذكر ربي حتى توارت بالحجاب فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ الْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّي حَتَّى تَوَارَتْ بِالْحِجَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تو انہوں نے (اِنابۃً) کہا: میں مال (یعنی گھوڑوں) کی محبت کو اپنے رب کے ذکر سے بھی (زیادہ) پسند کر بیٹھا ہوں یہاں تک کہ (سورج رات کے) پردے میں چھپ گیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And he said, "Truly do I love the love of good, with a view to the glory of my Lord,"- until (the sun) was hidden in the veil (of night):

| 17. [38:33] | Ruddooha AAalayya fatafiqa mashanbialssooqi waal-aAAnaqi | ردوها علي فطفق مسحا بالسوق والأعناق رُدُّوهَا عَلَيَّ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًا بِالسُّوقِ وَالْأَعْنَاقِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہوں نے کہا: اُن (گھوڑوں) کو میرے پاس واپس لاؤ، تو انہوں نے (تلوار سے) اُن کی پنڈلیاں اور گردنیں کاٹ ڈالیں (یوں اپنی محبت کو اﷲ کے تقرّب کے لئے ذبح کر دیا) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Bring them back to me." then began he to pass his hand over (their) legs and their necks.

| 18. [38:34] | Walaqad fatanna sulaymanawaalqayna AAala kursiyyihi jasadan thumma anaba | ولقد فتنا سليمان وألقينا على كرسيه جسدا ثم أناب وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَانَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَى كُرْسِيِّهِ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بے شک ہم نے سلیمان (علیہ السلام) کی (بھی) آزمائش کی اور ہم نے اُن کے تخت پر ایک (عجیب الخلقت) جسم ڈال دیا پھر انہوں نے دوبارہ (سلطنت) پا لی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And We did try Solomon: We placed on his throne a body (without life); but he did turn (to Us in true devotion):

| 19. [38:35] | Qala rabbi ighfir lee wahab leemulkan la yanbaghee li-ahadin min baAAdee innakaanta alwahhabu | قال رب اغفر لي وهب لي ملكا لا ينبغي لأحد من بعدي إنك أنت الوهاب قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَهَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَّا يَنبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِّنْ بَعْدِي إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | عرض کیا: اے میرے پروردگار! مجھے بخش دے، اور مجھے ایسی حکومت عطا فرما کہ میرے بعد کسی کو میسّر نہ ہو، بیشک تو ہی بڑا عطا فرمانے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure).

| Words | |قال - He said,| رب - "O my Lord!| اغفر - Forgive| لي - me| وهب - and grant| لي - me| ملكا - a kingdom,| لا - not| ينبغي - (will) belong| لأحد - to anyone| من - after me.| بعدي - after me.| إنك - Indeed, You| أنت - [You]| الوهاب - (are) the Bestower."| | ||||||
| 20. [38:36] | Fasakhkharna lahu alrreehatajree bi-amrihi rukhaan haythu asaba | فسخرنا له الريح تجري بأمره رخاء حيث أصاب فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ الرِّيحَ تَجْرِي بِأَمْرِهِ رُخَاءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر ہم نے اُن کے لئے ہوا کو تابع کر دیا، وہ اُن کے حکم سے نرم نرم چلتی تھی جہاں کہیں (بھی) وہ پہنچنا چاہتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then We subjected the wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, Whithersoever he willed,-

| 21. [38:39] | Hatha AAataona faomnunaw amsik bighayri hisabin | هذا عطاؤنا فامنن أو أمسك بغير حساب هَذَا عَطَاؤُنَا فَامْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (ارشاد ہوا:) یہ ہماری عطا ہے (خواہ دوسروں پر) احسان کرو یا (اپنے تک) روکے رکھو (دونوں حالتوں میں) کوئی حساب نہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Such are Our Bounties: whether thou bestow them (on others) or withhold them, no account will be asked."

| Words | |هذا - "This| عطاؤنا - (is) Our gift,| فامنن - so grant| أو - or| أمسك - withhold| بغير - without| حساب - account."| | ||||||
| 22. [38:40] | Wa-inna lahu AAindana lazulfawahusna maabin | وإن له عندنا لزلفى وحسن مآب وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَى وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بے شک اُن کے لئے ہماری بارگاہ میں خصوصی قربت اور آخرت میں عمدہ مقام ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return.

| Words | |وإن - And indeed,| له - for him| عندنا - with Us| لزلفى - surely is a near access| وحسن - and a good| مآب - place of return.| | ||||||
| 23. [38:41] | Waothkur AAabdanaayyooba ith nada rabbahu annee massaniya alshshaytanubinusbin waAAathabin | واذكر عبدنا أيوب إذ نادى ربه أني مسني الشيطان بنصب وعذاب وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطَانُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہمارے بندے ایّوب (علیہ السلام) کا ذکر کیجئے جب انہوں نے اپنے رب کو پکارا کہ مجھے شیطان نے بڑی اذیّت اور تکلیف پہنچائی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Commemorate Our Servant Job. Behold he cried to his Lord: "The Evil One has afflicted me with distress and suffering!"

| Words | |واذكر - And remember| عبدنا - Our slave| أيوب - Ayyub,| إذ - when| نادى - he called| ربه - his Lord,| أني - "That [I],| مسني - (has) touched me| الشيطان - Shaitaan| بنصب - with distress| وعذاب - and suffering."| | ||||||
| 24. [38:42] | Orkud birijlika hathamughtasalun baridun washarabun | اركض برجلك هذا مغتسل بارد وشراب ارْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ هَذَا مُغْتَسَلٌ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (ارشاد ہوا:) تم اپنا پاؤں زمین پر مارو، یہ (پانی کا) ٹھنڈا چشمہ ہے نہانے کے لئے اور پینے کے لئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (The command was given:) "Strike with thy foot: here is (water) wherein to wash, cool and refreshing, and (water) to drink."

| Words | |اركض - "Strike| برجلك - with your foot.| هذا - This| مغتسل - (is a spring of) water to bathe,| بارد - cool| وشراب - and a drink."| | ||||||
| 25. [38:43] | Wawahabna lahu ahlahu wamithlahummaAAahum rahmatan minna wathikrali-olee al-albabi | ووهبنا له أهله ومثلهم معهم رحمة منا وذكرى لأولي الألباب وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ أَهْلَهُ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَى لِأُوْلِي الْأَلْبَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے اُن کو اُن کے اہل و عیال اور اُن کے ساتھ اُن کے برابر (مزید اہل و عیال) عطا کر دیئے، ہماری طرف سے خصوصی رحمت کے طور پر، اور دانش مندوں کے لئے نصیحت کے طور پر | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And We gave him (back) his people, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who have Understanding.

| Words | |ووهبنا - And We granted| له - [to] him| أهله - his family| ومثلهم - and a like of them| معهم - with them,| رحمة - a Mercy| منا - from Us| وذكرى - and a Reminder| لأولي - for those of understanding.| الألباب - for those of understanding.| | ||||||

[38:44] | Wakhuth biyadika dighthan faidribbihi wala tahnath inna wajadnahu sabiranniAAma alAAabdu innahu awwabun | وخذ بيدك ضغثا فاضرب به ولا تحنث إنا وجدناه صابرا نعم العبد إنه أواب وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَاضْرِب بِّهِ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَاهُ صَابِرًا نِّعْمَ الْعَبْدُ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے ایوب!) تم اپنے ہاتھ میں (سَو) تنکوں کی جھاڑو پکڑ لو اور (اپنی قسم پوری کرنے کے لئے) اس سے (ایک بار اپنی زوجہ کو) مارو اور قسم نہ توڑو، بے شک ہم نے اسے ثابت قدم پایا، (ایّوب علیہ السلام) کیا خوب بندہ تھا، بے شک وہ (ہماری طرف) بہت رجوع کرنے والا تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "And take in thy hand a little grass, and strike therewith: and break not (thy oath)." Truly We found him full of patience and constancy. How excellent in Our service! ever did he turn (to Us)!

| 27. [38:45] | Waothkur AAibadanaibraheema wa-ishaqa wayaAAqooba olee al-aydee waal-absari | واذكر عبادنا إبراهيم وإسحاق ويعقوب أولي الأيدي والأبصار وَاذْكُرْ عِبَادَنَا إبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُوْلِي الْأَيْدِي وَالْأَبْصَارِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہمارے بندوں ابراہیم اور اسحاق اور یعقوب (علیھم السلام) کا ذکر کیجئے جو بڑی قوّت والے اور نظر والے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And commemorate Our Servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, possessors of Power and Vision.

| Words | |واذكر - And remember| عبادنا - Our slaves| إبراهيم - Ibrahim| وإسحاق - and Isaac| ويعقوب - and Ayyub,| أولي - possessors| الأيدي - (of) strength| والأبصار - and vision.| | ||||||
| 28. [38:46] | Inna akhlasnahum bikhalisatinthikra alddari | إنا أخلصناهم بخالصة ذكرى الدار إِنَّا أَخْلَصْنَاهُم بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى الدَّارِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بے شک ہم نے اُن کو آخرت کے گھر کی یاد کی خاص (خصلت) کی وجہ سے چن لیا تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily We did choose them for a special (purpose)- proclaiming the Message of the Hereafter.

| Words | |إنا - Indeed, We| أخلصناهم - [We] chose them| بخالصة - for an exclusive (quality);| ذكرى - remembrance| الدار - (of) the Home.| | ||||||
| 29. [38:47] | Wa-innahum AAindana lamina almustafaynaal-akhyari | وإنهم عندنا لمن المصطفين الأخيار وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الْأَخْيَارِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بے شک وہ ہمارے حضور بڑے منتخب و برگزیدہ (اور) پسندیدہ بندوں میں سے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They were, in Our sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good.
| ||||||
| Words | |وإنهم - And indeed, they| عندنا - to Us| لمن - (are) from| المصطفين - the chosen ones,| الأخيار - the best.| | ||||||
| 30. [38:48] | Waothkur ismaAAeelawa-ilyasaAAa watha alkifli wakullun mina al-akhyari | واذكر إسماعيل واليسع وذا الكفل وكل من الأخيار وَاذْكُرْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ وَكُلٌّ مِّنْ الْأَخْيَارِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آپ اسماعیل اور الیسع اور ذوالکفل (علیھم السلام) کا (بھی) ذکر کیجئے، اور وہ سارے کے سارے چنے ہوئے لوگوں میں سے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And commemorate Isma'il, Elisha, and Zul-Kifl: Each of them was of the Company of the Good.

| Words | |واذكر - And remember| إسماعيل - Ishmael| واليسع - and Elisha| وذا - and Dhul-kifl,| الكفل - and Dhul-kifl,| وكل - and all| من - (are) from| الأخيار - the best.| | ||||||
