[4:46] | Mina allatheena hadoo yuharrifoonaalkalima AAan mawadiAAihi wayaqooloona samiAAnawaAAasayna waismaAA ghayra musmaAAin waraAAinalayyan bi-alsinatihim wataAAnan fee alddeeni walawannahum qaloo samiAAna waataAAna waismaAAwaonthurna lakana khayranlahum waaqwama walakin laAAanahumu Allahubikufrihim fala yu/minoona illa qaleelan |  من الذين هادوا يحرفون الكلم عن مواضعه ويقولون سمعنا وعصينا واسمع غير مسمع وراعنا ليا بألسنتهم وطعنا في الدين ولو أنهم قالوا سمعنا وأطعنا واسمع وانظرنا لكان خيرا لهم وأقوم ولكن لعنهم الله بكفرهم فلا يؤمنون إلا قليلامِّنَ الَّذِينَ هَادُواْ يُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَاسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَاعِنَا لَيًّا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِي الدِّينِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُواْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَاسْمَعْ وَانْظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ اللّهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کچھ یہودی (تورات کے) کلمات کو اپنے (اصل) مقامات سے پھیر دیتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں: ہم نے سن لیا اور نہیں مانا، اور (یہ بھی کہتے ہیں:) سنیئے! (معاذ اللہ!) آپ سنوائے نہ جائیں، اور اپنی زبانیں مروڑ کر دین میں طعنہ زنی کرتے ہوئے”رَاعِنَا“ کہتے ہیں، اور اگر وہ لوگ (اس کی جگہ) یہ کہتے کہ ہم نے سنا اور ہم نے اطاعت کی اور (حضور! ہماری گزارش) سنئے اور ہماری طرف نظرِ (کرم) فرمائیے تو یہ اُن کے لئے بہتر ہوتا اور (یہ قول بھی) درست اور مناسب ہوتا، لیکن اللہ نے ان کے کفر کے باعث ان پر لعنت کی سو تھوڑے لوگوں کے سوا وہ ایمان نہیں لاتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, and say: "We hear and we disobey"; and "Hear what is not Heard"; and "Ra'ina"; with a twist of their tongues and a slander to Faith. If only they had said: "What hear and we obey"; and "Do hear"; and "Do look at us"; it would have been better for them, and more proper; but Allah hath cursed them for their Unbelief; and but few of them will believe.

| Shabbir Ahmed | ان لوگوں میں سے جو یہودی بن گئے کچھ ایسے ہیں جو ہٹا دیتے ہیں الفاظ کو اُن کے موقع و محل سے اور کہتے ہیں: -سمعنا وعصینا- ہم نے سُنا اور نہ مانا اور - اسمع غیر مسمع= ہماری سُن تیری کوئی نہ سُنے اور (کہتے ہیں) -راعنا- کو -ر اعینا0:: (یعنی ہمارا گڈریا) مروڑ کر اپنی زبانیں طنز کرنے کے لیے دینِ حق پر اور اگر وہ یُوں کہتے -سمعنا واطعنا- ہم نے سُنا اور مان لیا اور - اسمع و انظرنا- سنیے اور ہماری طرف نظر کیجیے تو یہ ہوتا بہتر ان کے حق میں اور زیادہ درست بھی، لیکن دُور کردیا ہے اپنی رحمت سے اُن کو اللہ نے، ان کے کفر کی وجہ سے سو وہ نہیں ایمان لاتے مگر بہت کم۔ | ||||||

(Muhammad) listen and consider our question." This would have been better for them and more righteous. And "Ra'ina" (an ambiguous word meaning: "listen, may you become deaf," or "our shepherd," or "in judeo-Arabic language conveying the sense of "our evil one"). If only they had said: "We hear and we obey;" and "Hear us;" and "Unzurna ("look upon us," or " pay attention to us"): it would have been better for them and more proper.
