Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohinwaal-ahzabu min baAAdihim wahammat kulluommatin birasoolihim liya/khuthoohu wajadaloo bialbatililiyudhidoo bihi alhaqqa faakhathtuhumfakayfa kana AAiqabi كذبت قبلهم قوم نوح والأحزاب من بعدهم وهمت كل أمة برسولهم ليأخذوه وجادلوا بالباطل ليدحضوا به الحق فأخذتهم فكيف كان عقاب
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَالْأَحْزَابُ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ وَجَادَلُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا بِهِ الْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ

  اِن سے پہلے قومِ نوح نے اور اُن کے بعد (اور) بہت سی امتّوں نے (اپنے رسولوں کو) جھٹلایا اور ہر امّت نے اپنے رسول کے بارے میں ارادہ کیا کہ اسے پکڑ (کر قتل کر دیں یا قید کر) لیں اور بے بنیاد باتوں کے ذریعے جھگڑا کیا تاکہ اس (جھگڑے) کے ذریعے حق (کا اثر) زائل کر دیں سو میں نے انہیں (عذاب میں) پکڑ لیا، پس (میرا) عذاب کیسا تھا

Yousuf AliBut (there were people) before them, who denied (the Signs),- the People of Noah, and the Confederates (of Evil) after them; and every People plotted against their prophet, to seize him, and disputed by means of vanities, therewith to condemn the Truth; but it was I that seized them! and how (terrible) was My Requital!

Ahmed Aliان سے پہلے قوم نوح اور ان کے بعد اور فرقے بھی جھٹلا چکے ہیں اور ہر ایک امت نے اپنے رسول کو پکڑنے کا ارادہ کیا اور غلط باتوں کے ساتھ بحث کرتے رہے تاکہ اس سے دین حق کو مٹا دیں پھر ہم نے انھیں پکڑ لیا پھر کیسی سزا ہوئی
Ahmed Raza Khanان سے پہلے نوح کی قوم اور ان کے بعد کے گروہوں نے جھٹلایا، اور ہر امت نے یہ قصد کیا کہ اپنے رسول کو پکڑ لیں اور باطل کے ساتھ جھگڑے کہ اس سے حق کو ٹال دیں تو میں نے انہیں پکڑا، پھر کیسا ہوا میرا عذاب
Shabbir Ahmed جھٹلایا تھا ان سے پہلے قومِ نوح نے اور بہت سے گروہوں نے ان کے بعد اور جھپٹی ہر امت اپنے رسول پر تا کہ اسے گرفتار کر لے اور جھگڑتے رہے جھوٹے دلائل سے تاکہ نیچا دکھائیں اس کے ذریعہ سے حق کو۔ آخر کار پکڑ لیا میں نے انہیں۔ پس دیکھ لو کیسی سخت تھی میری سزا!۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyان سے پہلے نوح کی قوم اور ان کے بعد اور اُمتوں نے بھی (پیغمبروں کی) تکذیب کی۔ اور ہر اُمت نے اپنے پیغمبر کے بارے میں یہی قصد کیا کہ اس کو پکڑ لیں اور بیہودہ (شہبات سے) جھگڑتے رہے کہ اس سے حق کو زائل کردیں تو میں نے ان کو پکڑ لیا (سو دیکھ لو) میرا عذاب کیسا ہوا

Abul Ala Maududiاِن سے پہلے نوحؑ کی قوم بھی جھٹلا چکی ہے، اور اُس کے بعد بہت سے دوسرے جتھوں نے بھی یہ کام کیا ہے ہر قوم اپنے رسول پر جھپٹی تاکہ اُسے گرفتار کرے اُن سب نے باطل کے ہتھیاروں سے حق کو نیچا دکھانے کی کوشش کی مگر آخر کار میں نے ان کو پکڑ لیا، پھر دیکھ لو کہ میری سزا کیسی سخت تھی

Khalifa**Disbelieving before them were the people of Noah, and many other opponents after them. Every community persecuted their messenger to neutralize him. And they argued with falsehood, to defeat the truth. Consequently, I punished them; how terrible was My retribution!
Hilali/Khan**The people of Nooh (Noah) and the confederates after them denied (their Messengers) before these, and every (disbelieving) nation plotted against their Messenger to seize him, and disputed by means of falsehood to refute therewith the truth. So I seized them (with punishment), and how (terrible) was My punishment!
