| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [42:31] | Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee al-ardiwama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin walanaseerin |  وما أنتم بمعجزين في الأرض وما لكم من دون الله من ولي ولا نصيروَمَا أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور تم (اپنی تدبیروں سے) اللہ کو (پوری) زمین میں عاجِز نہیں کر سکتے اور اللہ کو چھوڑ کر (بتوں میں سے) نہ کوئی تمہارا حامی ہوگا اور نہ مددگار | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Nor can ye frustrate (aught), (fleeing) through the earth; nor have ye, besides Allah, any one to protect or to help.

| 2. [42:32] | Wamin ayatihi aljawarifee albahri kaal-aAAlami | ومن آياته الجوار في البحر كالأعلام وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ الْجَوَارِ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اُس کی نشانیوں میں سے پہاڑوں کی طرح اونچے بحری جہاز بھی ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains.

| Words | |ومن - And among| آياته - His Signs| الجوار - (are) the ships| في - in| البحر - the sea,| كالأعلام - like [the] mountains.| | ||||||

[42:33] | In yasha/ yuskini alrreehafayathlalna rawakida AAala thahrihiinna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarinshakoorin | إن يشأ يسكن الريح فيظللن رواكد على ظهره إن في ذلك لآيات لكل صبار شكور إِن يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ الرِّيحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر وہ چاہے ہوا کو بالکل ساکِن کر دے تو کشتیاں سطحِ سمندر پر رُکی رہ جائیں، بیشک اس میں ہر صبر شعار و شکر گزار کے لئے نشانیاں ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful.

| Words | |إن - If| يشأ - He wills,| يسكن - He can cause the wind to become still| الريح - He can cause the wind to become still| فيظللن - then they would remain| رواكد - motionless| على - on| ظهره - its back.| إن - Indeed,| في - in| ذلك - that| لآيات - surely (are) Signs| لكل - for everyone| صبار - patient| شكور - (and) grateful.| | ||||||
| 4. [42:34] | Aw yoobiqhunna bima kasaboo wayaAAfuAAan katheerin | أو يوبقهن بما كسبوا ويعف عن كثير أَوْ يُوبِقْهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوا وَيَعْفُ عَن كَثِيرٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یا اُن (جہازوں اور کشتیوں) کو اُن کے اعمالِ (بد) کے باعث جو انہوں نے کما رکھے ہیں غرق کر دے، مگر وہ بہت (سی خطاؤں) کو معاف فرما دیتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive.

| Words | |أو - Or| يوبقهن - He could destroy them| بما - for what| كسبوا - they have earned;| ويعف - but He pardons| عن - [from]| كثير - much.| | ||||||
| 5. [42:35] | WayaAAlama allatheena yujadiloonafee ayatina ma lahum min maheesin | ويعلم الذين يجادلون في آياتنا ما لهم من محيص وَيَعْلَمَ الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِي آيَاتِنَا مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہماری آیتوں میں جھگڑا کرنے والے جان لیں کہ اُن کے لئے بھاگ نکلنے کی کوئی راہ نہیں ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape.

| Words | |ويعلم - And may know| الذين - those who| يجادلون - dispute| في - concerning| آياتنا - Our Signs| ما - (that) not| لهم - for them| من - any| محيص - place of refuge.| | ||||||
| 6. [42:36] | Fama ooteetum min shay-in famataAAualhayati alddunya wama AAindaAllahi khayrun waabqa lillatheena amanoowaAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona | فما أوتيتم من شيء فمتاع الحياة الدنيا وما عند الله خير وأبقى للذين آمنوا وعلى ربهم يتوكلون فَمَا أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا عِندَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو تمہیں جو کچھ بھی (مال و متاع) دیا گیا ہے وہ دنیوی زندگی کا (چند روزہ) فائدہ ہے اور جو کچھ اللہ کے پاس ہے وہ بہتر اور پائیدار ہے، (یہ) اُن لوگوں کے لئے ہے جو ایمان لاتے اور اپنے رب پر توکّل کرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord:

| Words | |فما - So whatever| أوتيتم - you are given| من - of| شيء - a thing,| فمتاع - (is) but a passing enjoyment| الحياة - (for) the life| الدنيا - (of) the world.| وما - But what| عند - (is) with| الله - Allah| خير - (is) better| وأبقى - and more lasting| للذين - for those who| آمنوا - believe| وعلى - and upon| ربهم - their Lord| يتوكلون - put (their) trust.| | ||||||
| 7. [42:37] | Waallatheena yajtaniboona kaba-iraal-ithmi waalfawahisha wa-itha ma ghadiboohum yaghfiroona | والذين يجتنبون كبائر الإثم والفواحش وإذا ما غضبوا هم يغفرون وَالَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو لوگ کبیرہ گناہوں اور بے حیائی کے کاموں سے پرہیز کرتے ہیں اور جب انہیں غصّہ آتا ہے تو معاف کر دیتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive;

| Words | |والذين - And those who| يجتنبون - avoid| كبائر - (the) greater| الإثم - sins| والفواحش - and the immoralities,| وإذا - and when| ما - and when| غضبوا - they are angry,| هم - they| يغفرون - forgive,| | ||||||

[42:38] | Waallatheena istajaboolirabbihim waaqamoo alssalatawaamruhum shoora baynahum wamimma razaqnahumyunfiqoona | والذين استجابوا لربهم وأقاموا الصلاة وأمرهم شورى بينهم ومما رزقناهم ينفقون وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَهُمْ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو لوگ اپنے رب کا فرمان قبول کرتے ہیں اور نماز قائم رکھتے ہیں اور اُن کا فیصلہ باہمی مشورہ سے ہوتا ہے اور اس مال میں سے جو ہم نے انہیں عطا کیا ہے خرچ کرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance;

| 9. [42:39] | Waallatheena itha asabahumualbaghyu hum yantasiroona | والذين إذا أصابهم البغي هم ينتصرون وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَهُمُ الْبَغْيُ هُمْ يَنتَصِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور وہ لوگ کہ جب انہیں (کسی ظالم و جابر) سے ظلم پہنچتا ہے تو (اس سے) بدلہ لیتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves.

| Words | |والذين - And those who,| إذا - when| أصابهم - strikes them| البغي - tyranny,| هم - they| ينتصرون - defend themselves.| | ||||||

[42:40] | Wajazao sayyi-atin sayyi-atun mithluhafaman AAafa waaslaha faajruhu AAalaAllahi innahu la yuhibbu alththalimeena | وجزاء سيئة سيئة مثلها فمن عفا وأصلح فأجره على الله إنه لا يحب الظالمين وَجَزَاءُ سَيِّئَةٍ سَيِّئَةٌ مِّثْلُهَا فَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الظَّالِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور برائی کا بدلہ اسی برائی کی مِثل ہوتا ہے، پھر جِس نے معاف کر دیا اور (معافی کے ذریعہ) اصلاح کی تو اُس کا اجر اللہ کے ذمّہ ہے۔ بیشک وہ ظالموں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong.

| Words | |وجزاء - (The) recompense| سيئة - (of) an evil| سيئة - (is) an evil| مثلها - like it.| فمن - But whoever| عفا - pardons| وأصلح - and makes reconciliation,| فأجره - then his reward| على - (is) on| الله - Allah.| إنه - Indeed, He| لا - (does) not| يحب - like| الظالمين - the wrongdoers.| | ||||||
| 11. [42:41] | Walamani intasara baAAda thulmihifaola-ika ma AAalayhim min sabeelin | ولمن انتصر بعد ظلمه فأولئك ما عليهم من سبيل وَلَمَنِ انتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِ فَأُوْلَئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِم مِّن سَبِيلٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یقیناً جو شخص اپنے اوپر ظلم ہونے کے بعد بدلہ لے تو ایسے لوگوں پر (ملامت و گرفت) کی کوئی راہ نہیں ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame.

| Words | |ولمن - And surely whosoever| انتصر - defends himself| بعد - after| ظلمه - he has been wronged,| فأولئك - then those| ما - not| عليهم - (is) against them| من - any| سبيل - way.| | ||||||
| 12. [42:42] | Innama alssabeelu AAalaallatheena yathlimoona alnnasawayabghoona fee al-ardi bighayri alhaqqi ola-ikalahum AAathabun aleemun | إنما السبيل على الذين يظلمون الناس ويبغون في الأرض بغير الحق أولئك لهم عذاب أليم إِنَّمَا السَّبِيلُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَظْلِمُونَ النَّاسَ وَيَبْغُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُم عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بس (ملامت و گرفت کی) راہ صرف اُن کے خلاف ہے جو لوگوں پر ظلم کرتے ہیں اور زمین میں ناحق سرکشی و فساد پھیلاتے ہیں، ایسے ہی لوگوں کے لئے دردناک عذاب ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous.

| Words | |إنما - Only| السبيل - the way| على - against| الذين - those who| يظلمون - oppress| الناس - the people| ويبغون - and rebel| في - in| الأرض - the earth| بغير - without| الحق - right.| أولئك - Those| لهم - for them| عذاب - (is) a punishment| أليم - painful.| | ||||||
| 13. [42:43] | Walaman sabara waghafara inna thalikalamin AAazmi al-omoori | ولمن صبر وغفر إن ذلك لمن عزم الأمور وَلَمَن صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یقیناً جو شخص صبر کرے اور معاف کر دے تو بیشک یہ بلند ہمت کاموں میں سے ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs.

| Words | |ولمن - And whoever| صبر - (is) patient| وغفر - and forgives,| إن - indeed,| ذلك - that| لمن - (is) surely of| عزم - matters of determination.| الأمور - matters of determination.| | ||||||
| 14. [42:44] | Waman yudlili Allahu famalahu min waliyyin min baAAdihi watara alththalimeenalamma raawoo alAAathaba yaqooloona hal ilamaraddin min sabeelin | ومن يضلل الله فما له من ولي من بعده وترى الظالمين لما رأوا العذاب يقولون هل إلى مرد من سبيل وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِن وَلِيٍّ مِّن بَعْدِهِ وَتَرَى الظَّالِمِينَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا الْعَذَابَ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ إِلَى مَرَدٍّ مِّن سَبِيلٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جسے اللہ گمراہ ٹھہرا دے تو اُس کے لئے اُس کے بعد کوئی کارساز نہیں ہوتا، اور آپ ظالموں کو دیکھیں گے کہ جب وہ عذابِ (آخرت) دیکھ لیں گے (تو) کہیں گے: کیا (دنیا میں) پلٹ جانے کی کوئی سبیل ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | For any whom Allah leaves astray, there is no protector thereafter. And thou wilt see the Wrong-doers, when in sight of the Penalty, Say: "Is there any way (to effect) a return?"

| Words | |ومن - And whoever| يضلل - Allah lets go astray| الله - Allah lets go astray| فما - then not| له - for him| من - any| ولي - protector| من - after Him.| بعده - after Him.| وترى - And you will see| الظالمين - the wrongdoers,| لما - when| رأوا - they see| العذاب - the punishment| يقولون - saying,| هل - "Is| إلى - (there) for| مرد - return| من - any| سبيل - way?"| | ||||||
| 15. [42:46] | Wama kana lahum min awliyaayansuroonahum min dooni Allahi waman yudliliAllahu fama lahu min sabeelin | وما كان لهم من أولياء ينصرونهم من دون الله ومن يضلل الله فما له من سبيل وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ يَنصُرُونَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِن سَبِيلٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اُن (کافروں) کے لئے کوئی حمایتی نہیں ہوں گے جو اللہ کے مقابل اُن کی مدد کر سکیں، اور جسے اللہ گمراہ ٹھہرا دیتا ہے تو اس کے لئے (ہدایت کی) کوئی راہ نہیں رہتی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And no protectors have they to help them, other than Allah. And for any whom Allah leaves to stray, there is no way (to the Goal).

[42:45] | Watarahum yuAAradoona AAalayhakhashiAAeena mina alththulli yanthuroonamin tarfin khafiyyin waqala allatheena amanooinna alkhasireena allatheena khasiroo anfusahumwaahleehim yawma alqiyamati ala inna alththalimeenafee AAathabin muqeemin | وتراهم يعرضون عليها خاشعين من الذل ينظرون من طرف خفي وقال الذين آمنوا إن الخاسرين الذين خسروا أنفسهم وأهليهم يوم القيامة ألا إن الظالمين في عذاب مقيم وَتَرَاهُمْ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا خَاشِعِينَ مِنَ الذُّلِّ يَنظُرُونَ مِن طَرْفٍ خَفِيٍّ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ الْخَاسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَلَا إِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ فِي عَذَابٍ مُّقِيمٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آپ انہیں دیکھیں گے کہ وہ دوزخ پر ذلّت اور خوف کے ساتھ سر جھکائے ہوئے پیش کئے جائیں گے (اسے چوری چوری) چھپی نگاہوں سے دیکھتے ہوں گے، اور ایمان والے کہیں گے: بیشک نقصان اٹھانے والے وہی لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے اپنی جانوں کو اور اپنے اہل و عیال کو قیامت کے دن خسارے میں ڈال دیا، یاد رکھو! بیشک ظالم لوگ دائمی عذاب میں (مبتلا) رہیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And thou wilt see them brought forward to the (Penalty), in a humble frame of mind because of (their) disgrace, (and) looking with a stealthy glance. And the Believers will say: "Those are indeed in loss, who have given to perdition their own selves and those belonging to them on the Day of Judgment. Behold! Truly the Wrong-doers are in a lasting Penalty!"

| Words | |وتراهم - And you will see them| يعرضون - being exposed| عليها - to it,| خاشعين - humbled| من - by| الذل - disgrace,| ينظرون - looking| من - with| طرف - a glance| خفي - stealthy.| وقال - And will say| الذين - those who| آمنوا - believed,| إن - "Indeed,| الخاسرين - the losers| الذين - (are) those who| خسروا - lost| أنفسهم - themselves| وأهليهم - and their families| يوم - (on the) Day| القيامة - (of) the Resurrection.| ألا - Unquestionably!| إن - Indeed,| الظالمين - the wrongdoers| في - (are) in| عذاب - a punishment| مقيم - lasting.| | ||||||
| 17. [42:47] | Istajeeboo lirabbikum min qabli an ya/tiyayawmun la maradda lahu mina Allahi ma lakummin malja-in yawma-ithin wama lakum min nakeerin | استجيبوا لربكم من قبل أن يأتي يوم لا مرد له من الله ما لكم من ملجإ يومئذ وما لكم من نكير اسْتَجِيبُوا لِرَبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لَّا مَرَدَّ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَكُم مِّن مَّلْجَإٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن نَّكِيرٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تم لوگ اپنے رب کا حکم قبول کر لو قبل اِس کے کہ وہ دن آجائے جو اللہ کی طرف سے ٹلنے والا نہیں ہے، نہ تمہارے لئے اُس دن کوئی جائے پناہ ہوگی اور نہ تمہارے لئے کوئی جائے انکار | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Hearken ye to your Lord, before there come a Day which there will be no putting back, because of (the Ordainment of) Allah! that Day there will be for you no place of refuge nor will there be for you any room for denial (of your sins)!

[42:49] | Lillahi mulku alssamawatiwaal-ardi yakhluqu ma yashao yahabuliman yashao inathan wayahabu liman yashao alththukoora | لله ملك السماوات والأرض يخلق ما يشاء يهب لمن يشاء إناثا ويهب لمن يشاء الذكور لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ يَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ إِنَاثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ الذُّكُورَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اللہ ہی کے لئے آسمانوں اور زمین کی بادشاہت ہے، وہ جو چاہتا ہے پیدا فرماتا ہے، جسے چاہتا ہے لڑکیاں عطا کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے لڑکے بخشتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (and plans). He bestows (children) male or female according to His Will (and Plan),

[42:48] | Fa-in aAAradoo fama arsalnakaAAalayhim hafeethan in AAalayka illaalbalaghu wa-inna itha athaqnaal-insana minna rahmatan fariha bihawa-in tusibhum sayyi-atun bima qaddamat aydeehimfa-inna al-insana kafoorun | فإن أعرضوا فما أرسلناك عليهم حفيظا إن عليك إلا البلاغ وإنا إذا أذقنا الإنسان منا رحمة فرح بها وإن تصبهم سيئة بما قدمت أيديهم فإن الإنسان كفور فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ وَإِنَّا إِذَا أَذَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً فَرِحَ بِهَا وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ كَفُورٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر (بھی) اگر وہ رُوگردانی کریں تو ہم نے آپ کو اُن پر (تباہی سے بچانے کا) ذمّہ دار بنا کر نہیں بھیجا۔ آپ پر تو صرف (پیغامِ حق) پہنچا دینے کی ذمّہ داری ہے، اور بیشک جب ہم انسان کو اپنی بارگاہ سے رحمت (کا ذائقہ) چکھاتے ہیں تو وہ اس سے خوش ہو جاتا ہے اور اگر انہیں کوئی مصیبت پہنچتی ہے اُن کے اپنے ہاتھوں سے آگے بھیجے ہوئے اعمالِ (بد) کے باعث، تو بیشک انسان بڑا ناشکر گزار (ثابت ہوتا) ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If then they run away, We have not sent thee as a guard over them. Thy duty is but to convey (the Message). And truly, when We give man a taste of a Mercy from Ourselves, he doth exult thereat, but when some ill happens to him, on account of the deeds which his hands have sent forth, truly then is man ungrateful!

| 20. [42:50] | Aw yuzawwijuhum thukrananwa-inathan wayajAAalu man yashao AAaqeeman innahuAAaleemun qadeerun | أو يزوجهم ذكرانا وإناثا ويجعل من يشاء عقيما إنه عليم قدير أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَاثًا وَيَجْعَلُ مَن يَشَاءُ عَقِيمًا إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یا انہیں بیٹے اور بیٹیاں (دونوں) جمع فرماتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے بانجھ ہی بنا دیتا ہے، بیشک وہ خوب جاننے والا بڑی قدرت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Or He bestows both males and females, and He leaves barren whom He will: for He is full of Knowledge and Power.

[42:51] | Wama kana libasharin anyukallimahu Allahu illa wahyan aw min wara-ihijabin aw yursila rasoolan fayoohiya bi-ithnihima yashao innahu AAaliyyun hakeemun | وما كان لبشر أن يكلمه الله إلا وحيا أو من وراء حجاب أو يرسل رسولا فيوحي بإذنه ما يشاء إنه علي حكيم وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُكَلِّمَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِن وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ رَسُولًا فَيُوحِيَ بِإِذْنِهِ مَا يَشَاءُ إِنَّهُ عَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہر بشر کی (یہ) مجال نہیں کہ اللہ اس سے (براہِ راست) کلام کرے مگر یہ کہ وحی کے ذریعے (کسی کو شانِ نبوت سے سرفراز فرما دے) یا پردے کے پیچھے سے (بات کرے جیسے موسٰی علیہ السلام سے طورِ سینا پر کی) یا کسی فرشتے کو فرستادہ بنا کر بھیجے اور وہ اُس کے اِذن سے جو اللہ چاہے وحی کرے (الغرض عالمِ بشریت کے لئے خطابِ اِلٰہی کا واسطہ اور وسیلہ صرف نبی اور رسول ہی ہوگا)، بیشک وہ بلند مرتبہ بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | It is not fitting for a man that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by the sending of a messenger to reveal, with Allah's permission, what Allah wills: for He is Most High, Most Wise.

[42:52] | Wakathalika awhaynailayka roohan min amrina ma kunta tadree maalkitabu wala al-eemanu walakinjaAAalnahu nooran nahdee bihi man nashao min AAibadinawa-innaka latahdee ila siratin mustaqeemin | وكذلك أوحينا إليك روحا من أمرنا ما كنت تدري ما الكتاب ولا الإيمان ولكن جعلناه نورا نهدي به من نشاء من عبادنا وإنك لتهدي إلى صراط مستقيم وَكَذَلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِي مَا الْكِتَابُ وَلَا الْإِيْمَانُ وَلَكِن جَعَلْنَاهُ نُورًا نَّهْدِي بِهِ مَنْ نَّشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِي إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو اسی طرح ہم نے آپ کی طرف اپنے حکم سے روحِ (قلوب و ارواح) کی وحی فرمائی (جو قرآن ہے)، اور آپ (وحی سے قبل اپنی ذاتی درایت و فکر سے) نہ یہ جانتے تھے کہ کتاب کیا ہے اور نہ ایمان (کے شرعی احکام کی تفصیلات کو ہی جانتے تھے جو بعد میں نازل اور مقرر ہوئیں)(1) مگر ہم نے اسے نور بنا دیا۔ ہم اِس (نور) کے ذریعہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جسے چاہتے ہیں ہدایت سے نوازتے ہیں، اور بیشک آپ ہی صراطِ مستقیم کی طرف ہدایت عطا فرماتے ہیں(2) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And thus have We, by Our Command, sent inspiration to thee: thou knewest not (before) what was Revelation, and what was Faith; but We have made the (Qur'an) a Light, wherewith We guide such of Our servants as We will; and verily thou dost guide (men) to the Straight Way,-

[42:53] | Sirati Allahi allatheelahu ma fee alssamawati wamafee al-ardi ala ila Allahi taseerual-omooru | صراط الله الذي له ما في السماوات وما في الأرض ألا إلى الله تصير الأمور صِرَاطِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَلَا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَصِيرُ الْأُمُورُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ صراطِ مستقیم) اسی اللہ ہی کا راستہ ہے جو آسمانوں اور زمین کی ہر چیز کا مالک ہے۔ جان لو! کہ سارے کام اللہ ہی کی طرف لوٹتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Way of Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Behold (how) all affairs tend towards Allah!
