| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [5:53] | Wayaqoolu allatheena amanoo ahaola-iallatheena aqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihiminnahum lamaAAakum habitat aAAmaluhum faasbahookhasireena |  ويقول الذين آمنوا أهؤلاء الذين أقسموا بالله جهد أيمانهم إنهم لمعكم حبطت أعمالهم فأصبحوا خاسرينوَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ أَهَـؤُلاَءِ الَّذِينَ أَقْسَمُواْ بِاللّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَعَكُمْ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فَأَصْبَحُواْ خَاسِرِينَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اس وقت) ایمان والے یہ کہیں گے کیا یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے بڑے تاکیدی حلف (کی صورت) میں اﷲ کی قَسمیں کھائی تھیں کہ بیشک وہ ضرور تمہارے (ہی) ساتھ ہیں، (مگر) ان کے سارے اعمال اکارت گئے، سو وہ نقصان اٹھانے والے ہوگئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And those who believe will say: "Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by Allah, that they were with you?" All that they do will be in vain, and they will fall into (nothing but) ruin.

| Literal | And those who believed, say: "Are those, those who swore by God their right's/oath's utmost that they (are) with you (E), their deeds wasted, so they became losers . | ||||||

| Pickthal | Then will the believers say (unto the people of the Scripture): are these they who swore by Allah their most binding oaths that they were surely with you? Their works have failed, and they have become the losers. | ||||||

| Shakir | And those who believe will say: Are these they who swore by Allah with the most forcible of their oaths that they were most surely with you? Their deeds shall go for nothing, so they shall become losers. | ||||||
| Sarwar | The believers say, "Are these the people who proclaimed themselves to be our sworn friends?" Their deeds have become devoid of all virtue and they themselves have become lost. | ||||||
| H/K/Saheeh | And those who believe will say, "Are these the ones who swore by Allah their strongest oaths that indeed they were with you?" Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers. | ||||||
| Malik | At that time the believers will say: "Are these the same people who solemnly swore by Allah that they would stand beside you?" As a result all their deeds will be voided and they will become losers.[53] | ||||||
| Maulana Ali** | And those who believe will say: Are these they who swore by Allah with their most forcible oaths that they were surely with you? Their deeds will bear no fruit, so they will be losers. | ||||||
| Free Minds | And those who believe said: "Were these the ones who swore oaths by God that they are with you?" Their works have collapsed, and they have become losers. | ||||||
| Qaribullah | Then the believers will say: 'Are those (the ones) who solemnly swore by Allah that they would stand by you? ' Their works will be annulled and they shall be the losers. | ||||||
| George Sale | And they who believe will say, are these the men who have sworn by God, with a most firm oath, that they surely held with you? Their works are become vain, and they are of those who perish. | ||||||
| JM Rodwell | Then will the faithful say, "What! are these they who swore, by their most solemn oath, that they were surely with you?" Vain their works; and themselves shall come to ruin. | ||||||
| Asad | while those who have attained to faith will say [to one another], "Are these the selfsame people who swore by God with their most solemn oaths that they were indeed with you? In vain are all their works, for now they are lost!" | ||||||
| Khalifa** | The believers will then say, "Are these the same people who swore by GOD solemnly that they were with you?" Their works have been nullified; they are the losers. | ||||||
| Hilali/Khan** | And those who believe will say: "Are these the men (hypocrites) who swore their strongest oaths by Allah that they were with you (Muslims)?" All that they did has been in vain (because of their hypocrisy), and they have become the losers. | ||||||
