| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [17:1] | Subhana allathee asrabiAAabdihi laylan mina almasjidi alharami ilaalmasjidi al-aqsa allathee barakna hawlahulinuriyahu min ayatina innahu huwa alssameeAAualbaseeru |  سبحان الذي أسرى بعبده ليلا من المسجد الحرام إلى المسجد الأقصى الذي باركنا حوله لنريه من آياتنا إنه هو السميع البصيرسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلاً مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ ذات (ہر نقص اور کمزوری سے) پاک ہے جو رات کے تھوڑے سے حصہ میں اپنے (محبوب اور مقرّب) بندے کو مسجدِ حرام سے (اس) مسجدِ اقصٰی تک لے گئی جس کے گرد و نواح کو ہم نے بابرکت بنا دیا ہے تاکہ ہم اس (بندۂ کامل) کو اپنی نشانیاں دکھائیں، بیشک وہی خوب سننے والا خوب دیکھنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Glory to (Allah) Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless,- in order that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He is the One Who heareth and seeth (all things).

[17:2] | Waatayna moosa alkitabawajaAAalnahu hudan libanee isra-eela allatattakhithoo min doonee wakeelan | وآتينا موسى الكتاب وجعلناه هدى لبني إسرائيل ألا تتخذوا من دوني وكيلا وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ هُدًى لِّبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَلاَّ تَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِي وَكِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کو کتاب (تورات) عطا کی اور ہم نے اسے بنی اسرائیل کے لئے ہدایت بنایا (اور انہیں حکم دیا) کہ تم میرے سوا کسی کو کار ساز نہ ٹھہراؤ | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We gave Moses the Book, and made it a Guide to the Children of Israel, (commanding): "Take not other than Me as Disposer of (your) affairs."

| 3. [17:3] | Thurriyyata man hamalnamaAAa noohin innahu kana AAabdan shakooran | ذرية من حملنا مع نوح إنه كان عبدا شكورا ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے) ان لوگوں کی اولاد جنہیں ہم نے نوح (علیہ السلام) کے ساتھ (کشتی میں) اٹھا لیا تھا، بیشک نوح (علیہ السلام) بڑے شکر گزار بندے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye that are sprung from those whom We carried (in the Ark) with Noah! Verily he was a devotee most grateful.

[17:4] | Waqadayna ila banee isra-eelafee alkitabi latufsidunna fee al-ardi marratayniwalataAAlunna AAuluwwan kabeeran | وقضينا إلى بني إسرائيل في الكتاب لتفسدن في الأرض مرتين ولتعلن علوا كبيرا وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي الْكِتَابِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَتَعْلُنَّ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے کتاب میں بنی اسرائیل کو قطعی طور پر بتا دیا تھا کہ تم زمین میں ضرور دو مرتبہ فساد کرو گے اور (اطاعتِ الٰہی سے) بڑی سرکشی برتو گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And We gave (Clear) Warning to the Children of Israel in the Book, that twice would they do mischief on the earth and be elated with mighty arrogance (and twice would they be punished)!

[17:5] | Fa-itha jaa waAAdu oolahumabaAAathna AAalaykum AAibadan lana oleeba/sin shadeedin fajasoo khilala alddiyariwakana waAAdan mafAAoolan | فإذا جاء وعد أولاهما بعثنا عليكم عبادا لنا أولي بأس شديد فجاسوا خلال الديار وكان وعدا مفعولا فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ أُولاَهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَادًا لَّنَا أُوْلِي بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ فَجَاسُواْ خِلاَلَ الدِّيَارِ وَكَانَ وَعْدًا مَّفْعُولاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر جب ان دونوں میں سے پہلی مرتبہ کا وعدہ آپہنچا تو ہم نے تم پر اپنے ایسے بندے مسلّط کر دیئے جو سخت جنگ جُو تھے پھر وہ (تمہاری) تلاش میں (تمہارے) گھروں تک جا گھسے، اور (یہ) وعدہ ضرور پورا ہونا ہی تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When the first of the warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants given to terrible warfare: They entered the very inmost parts of your homes; and it was a warning (completely) fulfilled.

[17:6] | Thumma radadna lakumu alkarrataAAalayhim waamdadnakum bi-amwalin wabaneenawajaAAalnakum akthara nafeeran | ثم رددنا لكم الكرة عليهم وأمددناكم بأموال وبنين وجعلناكم أكثر نفيرا ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَا لَكُمُ الْكَرَّةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَمْدَدْنَاكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر ہم نے ان کے اوپر غلبہ کو تمہارے حق میں پلٹا دیا اور ہم نے اموال و اولاد (کی کثرت) کے ذریعے تمہاری مدد فرمائی اور ہم نے تمہیں افرادی قوت میں (بھی) بڑھا دیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then did We grant you the Return as against them: We gave you increase in resources and sons, and made you the more numerous in man-power.

[17:7] | In ahsantum ahsantumli-anfusikum wa-in asa/tum falaha fa-itha jaawaAAdu al-akhirati liyasoo-oo wujoohakum waliyadkhulooalmasjida kama dakhaloohu awwala marratin waliyutabbiroo maAAalaw tatbeeran | إن أحسنتم أحسنتم لأنفسكم وإن أسأتم فلها فإذا جاء وعد الآخرة ليسوءوا وجوهكم وليدخلوا المسجد كما دخلوه أول مرة وليتبروا ما علوا تتبيرا إِنْ أَحْسَنتُمْ أَحْسَنتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ وَإِنْ أَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَا فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ لِيَسُوؤُواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُواْ الْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَلِيُتَبِّرُواْ مَا عَلَوْاْ تَتْبِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر تم بھلائی کرو گے تو اپنے (ہی) لئے بھلائی کرو گے، اور اگر تم برائی کرو گے تو اپنی (ہی) جان کے لئے، پھر جب دوسرے وعدہ کی گھڑی آئی (تو اور ظالموں کو تم پر مسلّط کر دیا) تاکہ (مار مار کر) تمہارے چہرے بگاڑ دیں اور تاکہ مسجدِ اقصٰی میں (اسی طرح) داخل ہوں جیسے اس میں (حملہ آور لوگ) پہلی مرتبہ داخل ہوئے تھے اور تاکہ جس (مقام) پر غلبہ پائیں اسے تباہ و برباد کر ڈالیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If ye did well, ye did well for yourselves; if ye did evil, (ye did it) against yourselves. So when the second of the warnings came to pass, (We permitted your enemies) to disfigure your faces, and to enter your Temple as they had entered it before, and to visit with destruction all that fell into their power.

| 8. [17:8] | AAasa rabbukum an yarhamakumwa-in AAudtum AAudna wajaAAalna jahannama lilkafireenahaseeran | عسى ربكم أن يرحمكم وإن عدتم عدنا وجعلنا جهنم للكافرين حصيرا عَسَى رَبُّكُمْ أَن يَرْحَمَكُمْ وَإِنْ عُدتُّمْ عُدْنَا وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ حَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | امید ہے (اس کے بعد) تمہارا رب تم پر رحم فرمائے گا اور اگر تم نے پھر وہی (سرکشی کا طرزِ عمل اختیار) کیا تو ہم بھی وہی (عذاب دوبارہ) کریں گے، اور ہم نے دوزخ کو کافروں کے لئے قید خانہ بنا دیا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | It may be that your Lord may (yet) show Mercy unto you; but if ye revert (to your sins), We shall revert (to Our punishments): And we have made Hell a prison for those who reject (all Faith).

[17:9] | Inna hatha alqur-ana yahdeelillatee hiya aqwamu wayubashshiru almu/mineena allatheenayaAAmaloona alssalihati anna lahum ajrankabeeran | إن هذا القرآن يهدي للتي هي أقوم ويبشر المؤمنين الذين يعملون الصالحات أن لهم أجرا كبيرا إِنَّ هَـذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا كَبِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک یہ قرآن اس (منزل) کی طرف رہنمائی کرتا ہے جو سب سے درست ہے اور ان مومنوں کو جو نیک عمل کرتے ہیں اس بات کی خوشخبری سناتا ہے کہ ان کے لئے بڑا اجر ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily this Qur'an doth guide to that which is most right (or stable), and giveth the Glad Tidings to the Believers who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a magnificent reward;

| 10. [17:10] | Waanna allatheena layu/minoona bial-akhirati aAAtadna lahum AAathabanaleeman | وأن الذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة أعتدنا لهم عذابا أليما وأَنَّ الَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہ کہ جو لوگ آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے ہم نے ان کے لئے دردناک عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And to those who believe not in the Hereafter, (it announceth) that We have prepared for them a Penalty Grievous (indeed).

| 11. [17:11] | WayadAAu al-insanu bialshsharriduAAaahu bialkhayri wakana al-insanuAAajoolan | ويدع الإنسان بالشر دعاءه بالخير وكان الإنسان عجولا وَيَدْعُ الْإِنسَانُ بِالشَّرِّ دُعَاءَهُ بِالْخَيْرِ وَكَانَ الْإِنسَانُ عَجُولاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور انسان (کبھی تنگ دل اور پریشان ہو کر) برائی کی دعا مانگنے لگتا ہے جس طرح (اپنے لئے) بھلائی کی دعا مانگتا ہے، اور انسان بڑا ہی جلد باز واقع ہوا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The prayer that man should make for good, he maketh for evil; for man is given to hasty (deeds).

[17:13] | Wakulla insanin alzamnahu ta-irahufee AAunuqihi wanukhriju lahu yawma alqiyamati kitabanyalqahu manshooran | وكل إنسان ألزمناه طائره في عنقه ونخرج له يوم القيامة كتابا يلقاه منشورا وَكُلَّ إِنسَانٍ أَلْزَمْنَاهُ طَآئِرَهُ فِي عُنُقِهِ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كِتَابًا يَلْقَاهُ مَنشُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے ہر انسان کے اعمال کا نوشتہ اس کی گردن میں لٹکا دیا ہے، اور ہم اس کے لئے قیامت کے دن (یہ) نامۂ اعمال نکالیں گے جسے وہ (اپنے سامنے) کھلا ہوا پائے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Every man's fate We have fastened on his own neck: On the Day of Judgment We shall bring out for him a scroll, which he will see spread open.

[17:12] | WajaAAalna allayla waalnnaharaayatayni famahawna ayata allayliwajaAAalna ayata alnnahari mubsiratanlitabtaghoo fadlan min rabbikum walitaAAlamoo AAadada alssineenawaalhisaba wakulla shay-in fassalnahutafseelan | وجعلنا الليل والنهار آيتين فمحونا آية الليل وجعلنا آية النهار مبصرة لتبتغوا فضلا من ربكم ولتعلموا عدد السنين والحساب وكل شيء فصلناه تفصيلا وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ آيَتَيْنِ فَمَحَوْنَا آيَةَ اللَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَا آيَةَ النَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةً لِّتَبْتَغُواْ فَضْلاً مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُواْ عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ تَفْصِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے رات اور دن کو (اپنی قدرت کی) دو نشانیاں بنایا پھر ہم نے رات کی نشانی کو تاریک بنایا اور ہم نے دن کی نشانی کو روشن بنایا تاکہ تم اپنے رب کا فضل (رزق) تلاش کر سکو اور تاکہ تم برسوں کا شمار اور حساب معلوم کر سکو، اور ہم نے ہر چیز کو پوری تفصیل سے واضح کر دیا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We have made the Night and the Day as two (of Our) Signs: the Sign of the Night have We obscured, while the Sign of the Day We have made to enlighten you; that ye may seek bounty from your Lord, and that ye may know the number and count of the years: all things have We explained in detail.

| Words | |وجعلنا - And We have made| الليل - the night| والنهار - and the day| آيتين - (as) two signs.| فمحونا - Then We erased| آية - (the) sign| الليل - (of) the night,| وجعلنا - and We made| آية - (the) sign| النهار - (of) the day| مبصرة - visible,| لتبتغوا - that you may seek| فضلا - bounty| من - from| ربكم - your Lord,| ولتعلموا - and that you may know| عدد - (the) number| السنين - (of) the years,| والحساب - and the account.| وكل - And every| شيء - thing -| فصلناه - We have explained it| تفصيلا - (in) detail.| | ||||||
| 14. [17:14] | Iqra/ kitabaka kafa binafsikaalyawma AAalayka haseeban | اقرأ كتابك كفى بنفسك اليوم عليك حسيبا اقْرَأْ كِتَابَكَ كَفَى بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اس سے کہا جائے گا:) اپنی کتابِ (اَعمال) پڑھ لے، آج تو اپنا حساب جانچنے کے لئے خود ہی کافی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (It will be said to him:) "Read thine (own) record: Sufficient is thy soul this day to make out an account against thee."

[17:15] | Mani ihtada fa-innama yahtadeelinafsihi waman dalla fa-innama yadilluAAalayha wala taziru waziratun wizra okhrawama kunna muAAaththibeena hattanabAAatha rasoolan | من اهتدى فإنما يهتدي لنفسه ومن ضل فإنما يضل عليها ولا تزر وازرة وزر أخرى وما كنا معذبين حتى نبعث رسولا مَّنِ اهْتَدَى فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدي لِنَفْسِهِ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا وَلاَ تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّى نَبْعَثَ رَسُولاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جو کوئی راہِ ہدایت اختیار کرتا ہے تو وہ اپنے فائدہ کے لئے ہدایت پر چلتا ہے اور جو شخص گمراہ ہوتا ہے تو اس کی گمراہی کا وبال (بھی) اسی پر ہے، اور کوئی بوجھ اٹھانے والا کسی دوسرے (کے گناہوں) کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گا، اور ہم ہرگز عذاب دینے والے نہیں ہیں یہاں تک کہ ہم (اس قوم میں) کسی رسول کو بھیج لیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Who receiveth guidance, receiveth it for his own benefit: who goeth astray doth so to his own loss: No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another: nor would We visit with Our Wrath until We had sent an messenger (to give warning).

[17:16] | Wa-itha aradna an nuhlikaqaryatan amarna mutrafeeha fafasaqoo feehafahaqqa AAalayha alqawlu fadammarnahatadmeeran | وإذا أردنا أن نهلك قرية أمرنا مترفيها ففسقوا فيها فحق عليها القول فدمرناها تدميرا وَإِذَا أَرَدْنَا أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُواْ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا الْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَاهَا تَدْمِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب ہم کسی بستی کو ہلاک کرنے کا ارادہ کرتے ہیں تو ہم وہاں کے امراء اور خوشحال لوگوں کو (کوئی) حکم دیتے ہیں (تاکہ ان کے ذریعہ عوام اور غرباء بھی درست ہو جائیں) تو وہ اس (بستی) میں نافرمانی کرتے ہیں پس اس پر ہمارا فرمانِ (عذاب) واجب ہو جاتا ہے پھر ہم اس بستی کو بالکل ہی مسمار کر دیتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When We decide to destroy a population, We (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: then (it is) We destroy them utterly.

| Words | |وإذا - And when| أردنا - We intend| أن - that| نهلك - We destroy| قرية - a town,| أمرنا - We order| مترفيها - its wealthy people| ففسقوا - but they defiantly disobey| فيها - therein;| فحق - so (is) proved true| عليها - against it| القول - the word,| فدمرناها - and We destroy it| تدميرا - (with) destruction.| | ||||||

[17:17] | Wakam ahlakna mina alqurooni minbaAAdi noohin wakafa birabbika bithunoobiAAibadihi khabeeran baseeran | وكم أهلكنا من القرون من بعد نوح وكفى بربك بذنوب عباده خبيرا بصيرا وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِن بَعْدِ نُوحٍ وَكَفَى بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے نوح (علیہ السلام) کے بعد کتنی ہی قوموں کو ہلاک کر ڈالا، اور آپ کا رب کافی ہے (وہ) اپنے بندوں کے گناہوں سے خوب خبردار خوب دیکھنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | How many generations have We destroyed after Noah? and enough is thy Lord to note and see the sins of His servants.

[17:18] | Man kana yureedu alAAajilataAAajjalna lahu feeha ma nashao limannureedu thumma jaAAalna lahu jahannama yaslahamathmooman madhooran | من كان يريد العاجلة عجلنا له فيها ما نشاء لمن نريد ثم جعلنا له جهنم يصلاها مذموما مدحورا مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُ فِيهَا مَا نَشَاءُ لِمَن نُّرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلاَهَا مَذْمُومًا مَّدْحُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جو کوئی صرف دنیا کی خوشحالی (کی صورت میں اپنی محنت کا جلدی بدلہ) چاہتا ہے تو ہم اسی دنیا میں جسے چاہتے ہیں جتنا چاہتے ہیں جلدی دے دیتے ہیں پھر ہم نے اس کے لئے دوزخ بنا دی ہے جس میں وہ ملامت سنتا ہوا (رب کی رحمت سے) دھتکارا ہوا داخل ہوگا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If any do wish for the transitory things (of this life), We readily grant them - such things as We will, to such person as We will: in the end have We provided Hell for them: they will burn therein, disgraced and rejected.

| 19. [17:19] | Waman arada al-akhirata wasaAAalaha saAAyaha wahuwa mu/minun faola-ika kanasaAAyuhum mashkooran | ومن أراد الآخرة وسعى لها سعيها وهو مؤمن فأولئك كان سعيهم مشكورا وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الْآخِرَةَ وَسَعَى لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو شخص آخرت کا خواہش مند ہوا اور اس نے اس کے لئے اس کے لائق کوشش کی اور وہ مومن (بھی) ہے تو ایسے ہی لوگوں کی کوشش مقبولیت پائے گی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Those who do wish for the (things of) the Hereafter, and strive therefor with all due striving, and have Faith,- they are the ones whose striving is acceptable (to Allah).

| Words | |ومن - And whoever| أراد - desires| الآخرة - the Hereafter| وسعى - and exerts| لها - for it| سعيها - the effort,| وهو - while he| مؤمن - (is) a believer,| فأولئك - then those| كان - [are]| سعيهم - their effort,| مشكورا - (is) appreciated.| | ||||||
| 20. [17:20] | Kullan numiddu haola-i wahaola-imin AAata-i rabbika wama kana AAataorabbika mahthooran | كلا نمد هؤلاء وهؤلاء من عطاء ربك وما كان عطاء ربك محظورا كُلاًّ نُّمِدُّ هَـؤُلاَءِ وَهَـؤُلاَءِ مِنْ عَطَاءِ رَبِّكَ وَمَا كَانَ عَطَاءُ رَبِّكَ مَحْظُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ہم ہر ایک کی مدد کرتے ہیں ان (طالبانِ دنیا) کی بھی اور ان (طالبانِ آخرت) کی بھی (اے حبیبِ مکرّم! یہ سب کچھ) آپ کے رب کی عطا سے ہے، اور آپ کے رب کی عطا (کسی کے لئے) ممنوع اور بند نہیں ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Of the bounties of thy Lord We bestow freely on all- These as well as those: The bounties of thy Lord are not closed (to anyone).

| 21. [17:21] | Onthur kayfa faddalnabaAAdahum AAala baAAdin walal-akhiratuakbaru darajatin waakbaru tafdeelan | انظر كيف فضلنا بعضهم على بعض وللآخرة أكبر درجات وأكبر تفضيلا انظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ وَلَلْآخِرَةُ أَكْبَرُ دَرَجَاتٍ وَأَكْبَرُ تَفْضِيلاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | دیکھئے ہم نے ان میں سے بعض کو بعض پر کس طرح فضیلت دے رکھی ہے، اور یقینًا آخرت (دنیا کے مقابلہ میں) درجات کے لحاظ سے (بھی) بہت بڑی ہے اور فضیلت کے لحاظ سے (بھی) بہت بڑی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | See how We have bestowed more on some than on others; but verily the Hereafter is more in rank and gradation and more in excellence.

| 22. [17:22] | La tajAAal maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara fataqAAuda mathmooman makhthoolan | لا تجعل مع الله إلها آخر فتقعد مذموما مخذولا لاَّ تَجْعَل مَعَ اللّهِ إِلَـهًا آخَرَ فَتَقْعُدَ مَذْمُومًا مَّخْذُولاً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اے سننے والے!) اﷲ کے ساتھ دوسرا معبود نہ بنا (ورنہ) تو ملامت زدہ (اور) بے یار و مددگار ہو کر بیٹھا رہ جائے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Take not with Allah another object of worship; or thou (O man!) wilt sit in disgrace and destitution.

[17:23] | Waqada rabbuka alla taAAbudooilla iyyahu wabialwalidayni ihsananimma yablughanna AAindaka alkibara ahaduhumaaw kilahuma fala taqul lahuma offinwala tanharhuma waqul lahuma qawlan kareeman | وقضى ربك ألا تعبدوا إلا إياه وبالوالدين إحسانا إما يبلغن عندك الكبر أحدهما أو كلاهما فلا تقل لهما أف ولا تنهرهما وقل لهما قولا كريما وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلاَّ تَعْبُدُواْ إِلاَّ إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلاَهُمَا فَلاَ تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفٍّ وَلاَ تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلاً كَرِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آپ کے رب نے حکم فرما دیا ہے کہ تم اﷲ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت مت کرو اور والدین کے ساتھ حسنِ سلوک کیا کرو، اگر تمہارے سامنے دونوں میں سے کوئی ایک یا دونوں بڑھاپے کو پہنچ جائیں تو انہیں ”اُف“ بھی نہ کہنا اور انہیں جھڑکنا بھی نہیں اور ان دونوں کے ساتھ بڑے ادب سے بات کیا کرو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour.

| Words | |وقضى - And has decreed| ربك - your Lord,| ألا - that (do) not| تعبدوا - worship| إلا - except| إياه - Him Alone| وبالوالدين - and to the parents| إحسانا - (be) good.| إما - Whether| يبلغن - reach| عندك - with you| الكبر - the old age| أحدهما - one of them,| أو - or| كلاهما - both of them,| فلا - then (do) not| تقل - say| لهما - to both of them| أف - a word of disrespect| ولا - and (do) not| تنهرهما - repel them,| وقل - but speak| لهما - to them| قولا - a word| كريما - noble.| | ||||||
| 24. [17:24] | Waikhfid lahuma janahaalththulli mina alrrahmati waqulrabbi irhamhuma kama rabbayanee sagheeran | واخفض لهما جناح الذل من الرحمة وقل رب ارحمهما كما ربياني صغيرا وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ان دونوں کے لئے نرم دلی سے عجز و انکساری کے بازو جھکائے رکھو اور (اﷲ کے حضور) عرض کرتے رہو: اے میرے رب! ان دونوں پر رحم فرما جیسا کہ انہوں نے بچپن میں مجھے (رحمت و شفقت سے) پالا تھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: "My Lord! bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood."

| Words | |واخفض - And lower| لهما - to them| جناح - (the) wing| الذل - (of) humility| من - (out) of| الرحمة - [the] mercy| وقل - and say,| رب - "My Lord!| ارحمهما - Have mercy on both of them| كما - as| ربياني - they brought me up| صغيرا - (when I was) small."| | ||||||
| 25. [17:25] | Rabbukum aAAlamu bima fee nufoosikumin takoonoo saliheena fa-innahu kana lil-awwabeenaghafooran | ربكم أعلم بما في نفوسكم إن تكونوا صالحين فإنه كان للأوابين غفورا رَّبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِي نُفُوسِكُمْ إِن تَكُونُواْ صَالِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ لِلْأَوَّابِينَ غَفُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تمہارا رب ان (باتوں) سے خوب آگاہ ہے جو تمہارے دلوں میں ہیں، اگر تم نیک سیرت ہو جاؤ تو بیشک وہ (اﷲ اپنی طرف) رجوع کرنے والوں کو بہت بخشنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Your Lord knoweth best what is in your hearts: If ye do deeds of righteousness, verily He is Most Forgiving to those who turn to Him again and again (in true penitence).

| 26. [17:26] | Waati tha alqurba haqqahuwaalmiskeena waibna alssabeeli walatubaththir tabtheeran | وآت ذا القربى حقه والمسكين وابن السبيل ولا تبذر تبذيرا وَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَى حَقَّهُ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَلاَ تُبَذِّرْ تَبْذِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور قرابت داروں کو ان کا حق ادا کرو اور محتاجوں اور مسافروں کو بھی (دو) اور (اپنا مال) فضول خرچی سے مت اڑاؤ | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And render to the kindred their due rights, as (also) to those in want, and to the wayfarer: But squander not (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift.

| Words | |وآت - And give| ذا - the relatives| القربى - the relatives| حقه - his right,| والمسكين - and the needy,| وابن - and the wayfarer,| السبيل - and the wayfarer,| ولا - and (do) not| تبذر - spend| تبذيرا - wastefully.| | ||||||
| 27. [17:27] | Inna almubaththireena kanooikhwana alshshayateeni wakana alshshaytanulirabbihi kafooran | إن المبذرين كانوا إخوان الشياطين وكان الشيطان لربه كفورا إِنَّ الْمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُواْ إِخْوَانَ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِرَبِّهِ كَفُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک فضول خرچی کرنے والے شیطان کے بھائی ہیں، اور شیطان اپنے رب کا بڑا ہی ناشکرا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord (himself) ungrateful.

| Words | |إن - Indeed,| المبذرين - the spendthrifts| كانوا - are| إخوان - brothers| الشياطين - (of) the devils.| وكان - And is| الشيطان - the Shaitaan| لربه - to his Lord| كفورا - ungrateful.| | ||||||
| 28. [17:28] | Wa-imma tuAAridanna AAanhumuibtighaa rahmatin min rabbika tarjooha faqullahum qawlan maysooran | وإما تعرضن عنهم ابتغاء رحمة من ربك ترجوها فقل لهم قولا ميسورا وَإِمَّا تُعْرِضَنَّ عَنْهُمُ ابْتِغَاءَ رَحْمَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكَ تَرْجُوهَا فَقُل لَّهُمْ قَوْلاً مَّيْسُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر تم (اپنی تنگ دستی کے باعث) ان (مستحقین) سے گریز کرنا چاہتے ہو اپنے رب کی جانب سے رحمت (خوش حالی) کے انتظار میں جس کی تم توقع رکھتے ہو تو ان سے نرمی کی بات کہہ دیا کرو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the Mercy from thy Lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness.

| Words | |وإما - And if| تعرضن - you turn away| عنهم - from them| ابتغاء - seeking| رحمة - mercy| من - from| ربك - your Lord,| ترجوها - which you expect| فقل - then say| لهم - to them| قولا - a word| ميسورا - gentle.| | ||||||

[17:29] | Wala tajAAal yadaka maghloolatan ilaAAunuqika wala tabsutha kulla albastifataqAAuda malooman mahsooran | ولا تجعل يدك مغلولة إلى عنقك ولا تبسطها كل البسط فتقعد ملوما محسورا وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَى عُنُقِكَ وَلاَ تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ الْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُومًا مَّحْسُورًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور نہ اپنا ہاتھ اپنی گردن سے باندھا ہوا رکھو (کہ کسی کو کچھ نہ دو) اور نہ ہی اسے سارا کا سارا کھول دو (کہ سب کچھ ہی دے ڈالو) کہ پھر تمہیں خود ملامت زدہ (اور) تھکا ہارا بن کر بیٹھنا پڑے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Make not thy hand tied (like a niggard's) to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach, so that thou become blameworthy and destitute.

| 30. [17:30] | Inna rabbaka yabsutu alrrizqaliman yashao wayaqdiru innahu kana biAAibadihikhabeeran baseeran | إن ربك يبسط الرزق لمن يشاء ويقدر إنه كان بعباده خبيرا بصيرا إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک آپ کا رب جس کے لئے چاہتاہے رزق کشادہ فرما دیتا ہے اور (جس کے لئے چاہتا ہے) تنگ کر دیتا ہے، بیشک وہ اپنے بندوں (کے اعمال و احوال) کی خوب خبر رکھنے والا خوب دیکھنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily thy Lord doth provide sustenance in abundance for whom He pleaseth, and He provideth in a just measure. For He doth know and regard all His servants.
