| 1. [56:1] | Itha waqaAAati alwaqiAAatu |  إذا وقعت الواقعةإِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ | |||||

| Yousuf Ali | When the Event inevitable cometh to pass,

| 2. [56:2] | Laysa liwaqAAatiha kathibatun | ليس لوقعتها كاذبة لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اُس کے واقع ہونے میں کوئی جھوٹ نہیں ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming.

| 3. [56:3] | Khafidatun rafiAAatun | خافضة رافعة خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (وہ قیامت کسی کو) نیچا کر دینے والی (کسی کو) اونچا کر دینے والی (ہے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt;

| Words | |خافضة - Bringing down,| رافعة - raising up,| | ||||||
| 4. [56:4] | Itha rujjati al-ardu rajjan | إذا رجت الأرض رجا إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جب زمین کپکپا کر شدید لرزنے لگے گی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When the earth shall be shaken to its depths,
| ||||||
| Words | |إذا - When| رجت - will be shaken| الأرض - the earth| رجا - (with) a shaking,| | ||||||
| 5. [56:5] | Wabussati aljibalu bassan | وبست الجبال بسا وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور پہاڑ ٹوٹ کر ریزہ ریزہ ہو جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms,
| ||||||
| Words | |وبست - And will be crumbled| الجبال - the mountains| بسا - (with awful) crumbling.| | ||||||
| 6. [56:6] | Fakanat habaan munbaththan | فكانت هباء منبثا فَكَانَتْ هَبًَاء مُّنبَثًّا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر وہ غبار بن کر منتشر ہو جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Becoming dust scattered abroad,
| ||||||
| Words | |فكانت - So they become| هباء - dust particles| منبثا - dispersing.| | ||||||
| 7. [56:7] | Wakuntum azwajan thalathatan | وكنتم أزواجا ثلاثة وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور تم لوگ تین قِسموں میں بٹ جاؤ گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And ye shall be sorted out into three classes.
| ||||||
| Words | |وكنتم - And you will become| أزواجا - kinds| ثلاثة - three.| | ||||||
| 8. [56:8] | Faas-habu almaymanati maas-habu almaymanati | فأصحاب الميمنة ما أصحاب الميمنة فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو (ایک) دائیں جانب والے، دائیں جانب والوں کا کیا کہنا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

| Words | |فأصحاب - Then (the) companions| الميمنة - (of) the right,| ما - what| أصحاب - (are the) companions| الميمنة - (of) the right?| | ||||||
| 9. [56:10] | Waalssabiqoona alssabiqoona | والسابقون السابقون وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (تیسرے) سبقت لے جانے والے (یہ) پیش قدمی کرنے والے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter).

| Words | |والسابقون - And the foremost| السابقون - (are) the foremost,| | ||||||
| 10. [56:11] | Ola-ika almuqarraboona | أولئك المقربون أُوْلَئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہی لوگ (اللہ کے) مقرّب ہوں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | These will be those Nearest to Allah:

| Words | |أولئك - Those| المقربون - (are) the nearest ones.| | ||||||
| 11. [56:12] | Fee jannati alnnaAAeemi | في جنات النعيم فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | نعمتوں کے باغات میں (رہیں گے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | In Gardens of Bliss:

| 12. [56:13] | Thullatun mina al-awwaleena | ثلة من الأولين ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اِن مقرّبین میں) بڑا گروہ اگلے لوگوں میں سے ہوگا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | A number of people from those of old,
| ||||||
| Words | |ثلة - A company| من - of| الأولين - the former (people),| | ||||||
| 13. [56:14] | Waqaleelun mina al-akhireena | وقليل من الآخرين وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ الْآخِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور پچھلے لوگوں میں سے (ان میں) تھوڑے ہوں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And a few from those of later times.
| ||||||
| Words | |وقليل - And a few| من - of| الآخرين - the later (people),| | ||||||
| 14. [56:9] | Waas-habu almash-amati maas-habu almash-amati | وأصحاب المشأمة ما أصحاب المشأمة وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (دوسرے) بائیں جانب والے، کیا (ہی برے حال میں ہوں گے) بائیں جانب والے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

| Words | |وأصحاب - And (the) companions| المشأمة - (of) the left,| ما - what| أصحاب - (are the) companions| المشأمة - (of) the left?| | ||||||
| 15. [56:15] | AAala sururin mawdoonatin | على سرر موضونة عَلَى سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ مقرّبین) زر نگار تختوں پر ہوں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones),
| ||||||
| Words | |على - On| سرر - thrones| موضونة - decorated,| | ||||||
| 16. [56:16] | Muttaki-eena AAalayha mutaqabileena | متكئين عليها متقابلين مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَابِلِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اُن پر تکیے لگائے آمنے سامنے بیٹھے ہوں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Reclining on them, facing each other.
| ||||||
| Words | |متكئين - Reclining,| عليها - on them| متقابلين - facing each other.| | ||||||
| 17. [56:17] | Yatoofu AAalayhim wildanunmukhalladoona | يطوف عليهم ولدان مخلدون يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ہمیشہ ایک ہی حال میں رہنے والے نوجوان خدمت گار ان کے اردگرد گھومتے ہوں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness),
| ||||||
| Words | |يطوف - Will circulate| عليهم - among them| ولدان - boys| مخلدون - immortal,| | ||||||
| 18. [56:18] | Bi-akwabin waabareeqa waka/sinmin maAAeenin | بأكواب وأباريق وكأس من معين بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کوزے، آفتابے اور چشموں سے بہتی ہوئی (شفاف) شرابِ (قربت) کے جام لے کر (حاضرِ خدمت رہیں گے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains:

| Words | |بأكواب - With vessels| وأباريق - and jugs| وكأس - and a cup| من - from| معين - a flowing stream,| | ||||||
| 19. [56:19] | La yusaddaAAoona AAanhawala yunzifoona | لا يصدعون عنها ولا ينزفون لَا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | انہیں نہ تو اُس (کے پینے) سے دردِ سر کی شکایت ہوگی اور نہ ہی عقل میں فتور (اور بدمستی) آئے گی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:

| Words | |لا - Not| يصدعون - they will get headache| عنها - therefrom| ولا - and not| ينزفون - they will get intoxicated| | ||||||
| 20. [56:20] | Wafakihatin mimmayatakhayyaroona | وفاكهة مما يتخيرون وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (جنّتی خدمت گزار) پھل (اور میوے) لے کر (بھی پھر رہے ہوں گے) جنہیں وہ (مقرّبین) پسند کریں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And with fruits, any that they may select:

| Words | |وفاكهة - And fruits| مما - of what| يتخيرون - they select,| | ||||||
| 21. [56:21] | Walahmi tayrin mimmayashtahoona | ولحم طير مما يشتهون وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور پرندوں کا گوشت بھی (دستیاب ہوگا) جِس کی وہ (اہلِ قربت) خواہش کریں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.
| ||||||
| Words | |ولحم - And (the) flesh| طير - (of) fowls| مما - of what| يشتهون - they desire.| | ||||||
| 22. [56:22] | Wahoorun AAeenun | وحور عين وَحُورٌ عِينٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور خوبصورت کشادہ آنکھوں والی حوریں بھی (اُن کی رفاقت میں ہوں گی) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-
| ||||||
| Words | |وحور - And fair ones| عين - (with) large eyes,| | ||||||
| 23. [56:23] | Kaamthali allu/lui almaknooni | كأمثال اللؤلؤ المكنون كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جیسے محفوظ چھپائے ہوئے موتی ہوں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Like unto Pearls well-guarded.
| ||||||
| Words | |كأمثال - Like| اللؤلؤ - pearls| المكنون - well-protected,| | ||||||
| 24. [56:24] | Jazaan bima kanooyaAAmaloona | جزاء بما كانوا يعملون جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ) اُن (نیک) اعمال کی جزا ہوگی جو وہ کرتے رہے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).
| ||||||
| Words | |جزاء - A reward| بما - for what| كانوا - they used (to)| يعملون - do.| | ||||||
| 25. [56:25] | La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwanwala ta/theeman | لا يسمعون فيها لغوا ولا تأثيما لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ اِس میں نہ کوئی بیہودگی سنیں گے اور نہ کوئی گناہ کی بات | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,-
| ||||||
| Words | |لا - Not| يسمعون - they will hear| فيها - therein| لغوا - vain talk| ولا - and not| تأثيما - sinful (speech),| | ||||||
| 26. [56:26] | Illa qeelan salaman salaman | إلا قيلا سلاما سلاما إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | مگر ایک ہی بات (کہ یہ سلام والے ہر طرف سے) سلام ہی سلام سنیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".
| ||||||
| Words | |إلا - Except| قيلا - a saying,| سلاما - "Peace,| سلاما - Peace."| | ||||||
| 27. [56:27] | Waas-habu alyameeni maas-habu alyameeni | وأصحاب اليمين ما أصحاب اليمين وَأَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور دائیں جانب والے، کیا کہنا دائیں جانب والوں کا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

| Yousuf Ali | (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns,
| ||||||

| 29. [56:29] | Watalhin mandoodin | وطلح منضود وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور تہ بہ تہ کیلوں میں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,-

| Words | |وطلح - And banana trees| منضود - layered,| | ||||||
| 30. [56:30] | Wathillin mamdoodin | وظل ممدود وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور لمبے لمبے (پھیلے ہوئے) سایوں میں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | In shade long-extended,
| ||||||
