Wala taqtuloo alnnafsa allateeharrama Allahu illa bialhaqqiwaman qutila mathlooman faqad jaAAalnaliwaliyyihi sultanan fala yusrif fee alqatli innahukana mansooran ولا تقتلوا النفس التي حرم الله إلا بالحق ومن قتل مظلوما فقد جعلنا لوليه سلطانا فلا يسرف في القتل إنه كان منصورا
وَلاَ تَقْتُلُواْ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللّهُ إِلاَّ بِالْحَقِّ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظْلُومًا فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِ سُلْطَانًا فَلاَ يُسْرِف فِّي الْقَتْلِ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مَنْصُورًا

  تم کسی جان کو قتل مت کرنا جسے (قتل کرنا) اﷲ نے حرام قرار دیا ہے سوائے اس کے کہ (اس کا قتل کرنا شریعت کی رُو سے) حق ہو، اور جو شخص ظلماً قتل کردیا گیا تو بیشک ہم نے اس کے وارث کے لئے (قصاص کا) حق مقرر کر دیا ہے سو وہ بھی (قصاص کے طور پر بدلہ کے) قتل میں حد سے تجاوز نہ کرے، بیشک وہ (اﷲ کی طرف سے) مدد یافتہ ہے (سو اس کی مدد و حمایت کی ذمہ داری حکومت پر ہوگی)

Yousuf AliNor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand qisas or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped (by the Law).

Ahmed Aliاور جس جان کو قتل کرنا الله نے حرام کر دیا ہے اسے ناحق قتل نہ کرنا اور جو کوئی ظلم سے مارا جائے تو ہم نے اس کے ولی کے واسطے اختیار دے دیا ہے لہذاا قصاص میں زيادتی نہ کرے بے شک اس کی مدد کی گئی ہے
Ahmed Raza Khanاور کوئی جان جس کی حرمت اللہ نے رکھی ہے ناحق نہ مارو، اور جو ناحق نہ مارا جائے تو بیشک ہم نے اس کے وارث کو قابو دیا تو وہ قتل میں حد سے نہ بڑھے ضرور اس کی مدد ہونی ہے
Shabbir Ahmed اور مت قتل کرو اس جان کو جس (کے قتل) کو حرام ٹھہرایا ہے اللہ نے مگر حق کی بنا پر اور جو شخص قتل کیا گیا ہو مظلومانہ تو یقیناً عطا کیا ہے ہم نے اس کے ولی کے اختیار، پس چاہیے کہ نہ حد سے بڑھے وہ قتل کے معاملے میں۔ اس لیے کہ اس کی مدد کی گئی ہے۔
Fateh Muhammad Jalandharyاور جس کا جاندار کا مارنا خدا نے حرام کیا ہے اسے قتل نہ کرنا مگر جائز طور پر (یعنی بفتویٰ شریعت) ۔ اور جو شخص ظلم سے قتل کیا جائے ہم نے اس کے وارث کو اختیار دیا ہے (کہ ظالم قاتل سے بدلہ لے) تو اس کو چاہیئے کہ قتل (کے قصاص) میں زیادتی نہ کرے کہ وہ منصورو فتحیاب ہے

Abul Ala Maududiقتل نفس کا ارتکاب نہ کرو جسے اللہ نے حرام کیا ہے مگر حق کے ساتھ اور جو شخص مظلومانہ قتل کیا گیا ہو اس کے ولی کو ہم نے قصاص کے مطالبے کا حق عطا کیا ہے، پس چاہیے کہ وہ قتل میں حد سے نہ گزرے، اُس کی مدد کی جائے گی

SarwarDo not kill a respectable soul without a just cause. If anyone is wrongfully killed, we have given the heirs of that person the right (to demand satisfaction or to forgive). He must not exceed the law in having vengeance; his victim shall also be assisted (by law).

And whoever is killed (intentionally with hostility and oppression and not by mistake), We have given his heir the authority ((to demand Qisas, Law of Equality in punishment or to forgive, or to take Diya (blood money)). But let him not exceed limits in the matter of taking life (i.e he should not kill except the killer only). Verily, he is helped (by the Islamic law).

In case of unjust killing, We have given rights to the victim's family. With that right of retribution, comes the responsibility that since the law is helping them, they must not exceed the limits.
