| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [8:30] | Wa-ith yamkuru bika allatheenakafaroo liyuthbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijooka wayamkuroonawayamkuru Allahu waAllahu khayru almakireena |  وإذ يمكر بك الذين كفروا ليثبتوك أو يقتلوك أو يخرجوك ويمكرون ويمكر الله والله خير الماكرينوَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللّهُ وَاللّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب کافر لوگ آپ کے خلاف خفیہ سازشیں کر رہے تھے کہ وہ آپ کو قید کر دیں یا آپ کو قتل کر ڈالیں یا آپ کو (وطن سے) نکال دیں، اور (اِدھر) وہ سازشی منصوبے بنا رہے تھے اور (اُدھر) اللہ (ان کے مکر کے ردّ کے لئے اپنی) تدبیر فرما رہا تھا، اور اللہ سب سے بہتر مخفی تدبیر فرمانے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home). They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah.

| Words | |وإذ - And when| يمكر - plotted| بك - against you| الذين - those who| كفروا - disbelieved| ليثبتوك - that they restrain you| أو - or| يقتلوك - kill you| أو - or| يخرجوك - drive you out.| ويمكرون - And they were planning| ويمكر - and (also) was planning| الله - Allah.| والله - And Allah| خير - is (the) Best| الماكرين - (of) the Planners.| | ||||||
| 2. [8:31] | Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunaqaloo qad samiAAna law nashao laqulnamithla hatha in hatha illa asateerual-awwaleena | وإذا تتلى عليهم آياتنا قالوا قد سمعنا لو نشاء لقلنا مثل هذا إن هذا إلا أساطير الأولين وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا قَالُواْ قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَـذَا إِنْ هَـذَا إِلاَّ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب ان پر ہماری آیتیں پڑھی جاتی ہیں (تو) وہ کہتے ہیں: بیشک ہم نے سن لیا اگر ہم چاہیں تو ہم بھی اس (کلام) کے مثل کہہ سکتے ہیں یہ تو اگلوں کی (خیالی) داستانوں کے سوا (کچھ بھی) نہیں ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When Our Signs are rehearsed to them, they say: "We have heard this (before): if we wished, we could say (words) like these: these are nothing but tales of the ancients."

| Words | |وإذا - And when| تتلى - are recited| عليهم - to them| آياتنا - Our Verses| قالوا - they say,| قد - "Verily| سمعنا - we have heard.| لو - if| نشاء - we wish| لقلنا - surely, we could say| مثل - like| هذا - this.| إن - Not| هذا - is this| إلا - but| أساطير - tales| الأولين - (of) the former (people)."| | ||||||
| 3. [8:32] | Wa-ith qaloo allahummain kana hatha huwa alhaqqa min AAindika faamtirAAalayna hijaratan mina alssama-iawi i/tina biAAathabin aleemin | وإذ قالوا اللهم إن كان هذا هو الحق من عندك فأمطر علينا حجارة من السماء أو ائتنا بعذاب أليم وَإِذْ قَالُواْ اللَّهُمَّ إِن كَانَ هَـذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِندِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ أَوِ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب انہوں نے (طعناً) کہا: اے اللہ! اگر یہی (قرآن) تیری طرف سے حق ہے تو (اس کی نافرمانی کے باعث) ہم پر آسمان سے پتھر برسا دے یا ہم پر کوئی دردناک عذاب بھیج دے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Remember how they said: "O Allah if this is indeed the Truth from Thee, rain down on us a shower of stones form the sky, or send us a grievous penalty."

| Words | |وإذ - And when| قالوا - they said,| اللهم - "O Allah!| إن - If| كان - was| هذا - this| هو - [it]| الحق - the truth| من - [of]| عندك - from You| فأمطر - then (send) rain| علينا - upon us| حجارة - (of) stones| من - from| السماء - the sky| أو - or| ائتنا - bring (upon) us| بعذاب - a punishment| أليم - painful."| | ||||||
| 4. [8:33] | Wama kana AllahuliyuAAaththibahum waanta feehim wama kanaAllahu muAAaththibahum wahum yastaghfiroona | وما كان الله ليعذبهم وأنت فيهم وما كان الله معذبهم وهم يستغفرون وَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنتَ فِيهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ اللّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (درحقیقت بات یہ ہے کہ) اللہ کو یہ زیب نہیں دیتا کہ ان پر عذاب فرمائے درآنحالیکہ (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) آپ بھی ان میں (موجود) ہوں، اور نہ ہی اللہ ایسی حالت میں ان پر عذاب فرمانے والا ہے کہ وہ (اس سے) مغفرت طلب کر رہے ہوں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But Allah was not going to send them a penalty whilst thou wast amongst them; nor was He going to send it whilst they could ask for pardon.

| Words | |وما - But not| كان - is| الله - (for) Allah| ليعذبهم - that He punishes them| وأنت - while you| فيهم - (are) among them,| وما - and not| كان - is| الله - Allah| معذبهم - the One Who punishes them| وهم - while they| يستغفرون - seek forgiveness.| | ||||||

[8:34] | Wama lahum alla yuAAaththibahumuAllahu wahum yasuddoona AAani almasjidi alharamiwama kanoo awliyaahu in awliyaohu illaalmuttaqoona walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona | وما لهم ألا يعذبهم الله وهم يصدون عن المسجد الحرام وما كانوا أولياءه إن أولياؤه إلا المتقون ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلاَّ يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُواْ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ إِنْ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُ إِلاَّ الْمُتَّقُونَ وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (آپ کی ہجرتِ مدینہ کے بعد مکہ کے) ان (کافروں) کے لئے اور کیا وجہ ہوسکتی ہے کہ اللہ انہیں (اب) عذاب نہ دے حالانکہ وہ (لوگوں کو) مسجدِ حرام (یعنی کعبۃ اللہ) سے روکتے ہیں اور وہ اس کے ولی (یا متّولی) ہونے کے اہل بھی نہیں، اس کے اولیاء (یعنی دوست) تو صرف پرہیزگار لوگ ہوتے ہیں مگر ان میں سے اکثر (اس حقیقت کو) جانتے ہی نہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But what plea have they that Allah should not punish them, when they keep out (men) from the sacred Mosque - and they are not its guardians? No men can be its guardians except the righteous; but most of them do not understand.

| Words | |وما - But what| لهم - (is) for them| ألا - that not| يعذبهم - (should) punish them| الله - Allah| وهم - while they| يصدون - hinder (people)| عن - from| المسجد - Al-Masjid| الحرام - Al-Haraam,| وما - while not| كانوا - they are| أولياءه - its guardians?| إن - Not (can be)| أولياؤه - its guardians| إلا - except| المتقون - the ones who fear Allah,| ولكن - but| أكثرهم - most of them| لا - (do) not| يعلمون - know.| | ||||||
| 6. [8:35] | Wama kana salatuhumAAinda albayti illa mukaan watasdiyatan fathooqooalAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona | وما كان صلاتهم عند البيت إلا مكاء وتصدية فذوقوا العذاب بما كنتم تكفرون وَمَا كَانَ صَلاَتُهُمْ عِندَ الْبَيْتِ إِلاَّ مُكَاءً وَتَصْدِيَةً فَذُوقُواْ الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیت اللہ (یعنی خانہ کعبہ) کے پاس ان کی (نام نہاد) نماز سیٹیاں اور تالیاں بجانے کے سوا کچھ بھی نہیں ہے، سو تم عذاب (کا مزہ) چکھو اس وجہ سے کہ تم کفر کیا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Their prayer at the House (of Allah) is nothing but whistling and clapping of hands: (Its only answer can be), "Taste ye the penalty because ye blasphemed."

| Words | |وما - And not| كان - was| صلاتهم - their prayer| عند - at| البيت - the House| إلا - except| مكاء - whistling| وتصدية - and clapping.| فذوقوا - So taste| العذاب - the punishment| بما - because| كنتم - you used to| تكفرون - disbelieve.| | ||||||

[8:36] | Inna allatheena kafaroo yunfiqoonaamwalahum liyasuddoo AAan sabeeli Allahifasayunfiqoonaha thumma takoonu AAalayhim hasratanthumma yughlaboona waallatheena kafaroo ilajahannama yuhsharoona | إن الذين كفروا ينفقون أموالهم ليصدوا عن سبيل الله فسينفقونها ثم تكون عليهم حسرة ثم يغلبون والذين كفروا إلى جهنم يحشرون إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک کافر لوگ اپنا مال و دولت (اس لئے) خرچ کرتے ہیں کہ (اس کے اثر سے) وہ (لوگوں کو) اللہ (کے دین) کی راہ سے روکیں، سو ابھی وہ اسے خرچ کرتے رہیں گے پھر (یہ خرچ کرنا) ان کے حق میں پچھتاوا (یعنی حسرت و ندامت) بن جائے گا پھر وہ (گرفتِ الٰہی کے ذریعے) مغلوب کر دیئے جائیں گے، اور جن لوگوں نے کفر اپنا لیا ہے وہ دوزخ کی طرف ہانکے جائیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Unbelievers spend their wealth to hinder (man) from the path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend; but in the end they will have (only) regrets and sighs; at length they will be overcome: and the Unbelievers will be gathered together to Hell;-

| Words | |إن - Indeed,| الذين - those who| كفروا - disbelieve,| ينفقون - they spend| أموالهم - their wealth| ليصدوا - to hinder (people)| عن - from| سبيل - (the) way| الله - (of) Allah.| فسينفقونها - So they will spend it,| ثم - then| تكون - it will be| عليهم - for them| حسرة - a regret,| ثم - then| يغلبون - they will be overcome.| والذين - And those who| كفروا - disbelieve,| إلى - to| جهنم - Hell| يحشرون - they will be gathered.| | ||||||
| 8. [8:38] | Qul lillatheena kafaroo in yantahooyughfar lahum ma qad salafa wa-in yaAAoodoo faqad madatsunnatu al-awwaleena | قل للذين كفروا إن ينتهوا يغفر لهم ما قد سلف وإن يعودوا فقد مضت سنت الأولين قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِن يَنتَهُواْ يُغْفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِنْ يَعُودُواْ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ الْأَوَّلِينِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | آپ کفر کرنے والوں سے فرما دیں: اگر وہ (اپنے کافرانہ اَفعال سے) باز آجائیں تو ان کے وہ (گناہ) بخش دیئے جائیں گے جو پہلے گزر چکے ہیں، اور اگر وہ پھر وہی کچھ کریں گے تو یقیناً اگلوں (کے عذاب در عذاب) کا طریقہ گزر چکا ہے (ان کے ساتھ بھی وہی کچھ ہوگا) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Say to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them).

[8:37] | Liyameeza Allahu alkhabeetha mina alttayyibiwayajAAala alkhabeetha baAAdahu AAala baAAdinfayarkumahu jameeAAan fayajAAalahu fee jahannama ola-ikahumu alkhasiroona | ليميز الله الخبيث من الطيب ويجعل الخبيث بعضه على بعض فيركمه جميعا فيجعله في جهنم أولئك هم الخاسرون لِيَمِيزَ اللّهُ الْخَبِيثَ مِنَ الطَّيِّبِ وَيَجْعَلَ الْخَبِيثَ بَعْضَهُ عَلَى بَعْضٍ فَيَرْكُمَهُ جَمِيعاً فَيَجْعَلَهُ فِي جَهَنَّمَ أُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تاکہ اللہ (تعالیٰ) ناپاک کو پاکیزہ سے جدا فرما دے اور ناپاک (یعنی نجاست بھرے کرداروں) کو ایک دوسرے کے اوپر تلے رکھ دے پھر سب کو اکٹھا ڈھیر بنا دے گا پھر اس (ڈھیر) کو دوزخ میں ڈال دے گا، یہی لوگ خسارہ اٹھانے والے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | In order that Allah may separate the impure from the pure, put the impure, one on another, heap them together, and cast them into Hell. They will be the ones to have lost.

| Words | |ليميز - That may distinguish| الله - Allah| الخبيث - the wicked| من - from| الطيب - the good,| ويجعل - and place| الخبيث - the wicked| بعضه - some of them| على - on| بعض - others| فيركمه - and heap them| جميعا - all together,| فيجعله - and put them| في - in| جهنم - Hell.| أولئك - Those -| هم - they| الخاسرون - (are) the losers.| | ||||||
| 10. [8:39] | Waqatiloohum hatta latakoona fitnatun wayakoona alddeenu kulluhu lillahifa-ini intahaw fa-inna Allaha bima yaAAmaloona baseerun | وقاتلوهم حتى لا تكون فتنة ويكون الدين كله لله فإن انتهوا فإن الله بما يعملون بصير وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّى لاَ تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ الدِّينُ كُلُّهُ لِلّهِ فَإِنِ انتَهَوْاْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (اے اہلِ حق!) تم ان (کفر و طاغوت کے سرغنوں) کے ساتھ (انقلابی) جنگ کرتے رہو، یہاں تک کہ (دین دشمنی کا) کوئی فتنہ (باقی) نہ رہ جائے اور سب دین (یعنی نظامِ بندگی و زندگی) اللہ ہی کا ہو جائے، پھر اگر وہ باز آجائیں تو بیشک اللہ اس (عمل) کو جو وہ انجام دے رہے ہیں، خوب دیکھ رہا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.

| Words | |وقاتلوهم - And fight them| حتى - until| لا - not| تكون - there is| فتنة - oppression| ويكون - and is| الدين - the religion| كله - all of it| لله - for Allah.| فإن - But if| انتهوا - they cease,| فإن - then indeed,| الله - Allah| بما - of what| يعملون - they do| بصير - (is) All-Seer.| | ||||||
| 11. [8:40] | Wa-in tawallaw faiAAlamoo anna Allahamawlakum niAAma almawla waniAAma alnnaseeru | وإن تولوا فاعلموا أن الله مولاكم نعم المولى ونعم النصير وَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّ اللّهَ مَوْلاَكُمْ نِعْمَ الْمَوْلَى وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيرُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر انہوں نے (اطاعتِ حق سے) روگردانی کی تو جان لو کہ بیشک اللہ ہی تمہارا مولیٰ (یعنی حمایتی) ہے، (وہی) بہتر حمایتی اور بہتر مددگار ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If they refuse, be sure that Allah is your Protector - the best to protect and the best to help.

| Words | |وإن - And if| تولوا - they turn away| فاعلموا - then know| أن - that| الله - Allah| مولاكم - (is) your Protector,| نعم - Excellent| المولى - (is) the Protector,| ونعم - and Excellent| النصير - (is) the Helper.| | ||||||

[8:43] | Ith yureekahumu Allahu fee manamikaqaleelan walaw arakahum katheeran lafashiltum walatanazaAAtumfee al-amri walakinna Allaha sallama innahuAAaleemun bithati alssudoori | إذ يريكهم الله في منامك قليلا ولو أراكهم كثيرا لفشلتم ولتنازعتم في الأمر ولكن الله سلم إنه عليم بذات الصدور إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ اللّهُ فِي مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلاً وَلَوْ أَرَاكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَّفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي الأَمْرِ وَلَـكِنَّ اللّهَ سَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (وہ واقعہ یاد دلائیے) جب آپ کو اللہ نے آپ کے خواب میں ان کافروں (کے لشکر) کو تھوڑ ا کر کے دکھایا تھا اور اگر (اللہ) آپ کو وہ زیادہ کر کے دکھاتا تو (اے مسلمانو!) تم ہمت ہار جاتے اور تم یقیناً اس (جنگ کے) معاملے میں باہم جھگڑنے لگتے لیکن اللہ نے (مسلمانوں کو بزدلی اور باہمی نزاع سے) بچا لیا۔ بیشک وہ سینوں کی (چھپی) باتوں کو خوب جاننے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Remember in thy dream Allah showed them to thee as few: if He had shown them to thee as many, ye would surely have been discouraged, and ye would surely have disputed in (your) decision; but Allah saved (you): for He knoweth well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.

| Words | |إذ - When| يريكهم - you (where) shown them| الله - (by) Allah| في - in| منامك - your dream| قليلا - (as) few,| ولو - and if| أراكهم - He had shown them to you| كثيرا - (as) many| لفشلتم - surely you would have lost courage| ولتنازعتم - and surely you would have disputed| في - in| الأمر - the matter,| ولكن - but| الله - Allah| سلم - saved (you).| إنه - Indeed, He| عليم - (is) All-Knower| بذات - of what is in| الصدور - the breasts.| | ||||||

[8:41] | WaiAAlamoo annama ghanimtummin shay-in faanna lillahi khumusahu walilrrasooliwalithee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeniwaibni alssabeeli in kuntum amantum biAllahiwama anzalna AAala AAabdina yawmaalfurqani yawma iltaqa aljamAAani waAllahuAAala kulli shay-in qadeerun | واعلموا أنما غنمتم من شيء فأن لله خمسه وللرسول ولذي القربى واليتامى والمساكين وابن السبيل إن كنتم آمنتم بالله وما أنزلنا على عبدنا يوم الفرقان يوم التقى الجمعان والله على كل شيء قدير وَاعْلَمُواْ أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَأَنَّ لِلّهِ خُمُسَهُ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِي الْقُرْبَى وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ إِن كُنتُمْ آمَنتُمْ بِاللّهِ وَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِنَا يَوْمَ الْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ وَاللّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جان لو کہ جو کچھ مالِ غنیمت تم نے پایا ہو تو اس کا پانچواں حصہ اللہ کے لئے اور رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے لئے اور (رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے) قرابت داروں کے لئے (ہے) اور یتیموں اور محتاجوں اور مسافروں کے لئے ہے۔ اگر تم اللہ پر اور اس (وحی) پر ایمان لائے ہو جو ہم نے اپنے (برگزیدہ) بندے پر (حق و باطل کے درمیان) فیصلے کے دن نازل فرمائی وہ دن (جب میدانِ بدر میں مومنوں اور کافروں کے) دونوں لشکر باہم مقابل ہوئے تھے، اور اللہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And know that out of all the booty that ye may acquire (in war), a fifth share is assigned to Allah,- and to the Messenger, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer,- if ye do believe in Allah and in the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Testing,- the Day of the meeting of the two forces. For Allah hath power over all things.

| Words | |واعلموا - And know| أنما - that what| غنمتم - you obtain (as) spoils of war| من - of| شيء - anything,| فأن - then that,| لله - for Allah| خمسه - (is) one fifth of it| وللرسول - and for the Messenger| ولذي - and for the| القربى - near relatives,| واليتامى - and the orphans| والمساكين - and the needy| وابن - and the| السبيل - wayfarer,| إن - if| كنتم - you| آمنتم - believe| بالله - in Allah,| وما - and (in) what| أنزلنا - We sent down| على - to| عبدنا - Our slave| يوم - (on the) day| الفرقان - (of) the criterion,| يوم - (the) day| التقى - (when) met| الجمعان - the two forces.| والله - And Allah| على - (is) on| كل - every| شيء - thing| قدير - All-Powerful.| | ||||||

[8:42] | Ith antum bialAAudwati alddunyawahum bialAAudwati alquswa waalrrakbuasfala minkum walaw tawaAAadtum laikhtalaftum feealmeeAAadi walakin liyaqdiya Allahuamran kana mafAAoolan liyahlika man halaka AAan bayyinatinwayahya man hayya AAan bayyinatin wa-innaAllaha lasameeAAun AAaleemun | إذ أنتم بالعدوة الدنيا وهم بالعدوة القصوى والركب أسفل منكم ولو تواعدتم لاختلفتم في الميعاد ولكن ليقضي الله أمرا كان مفعولا ليهلك من هلك عن بينة ويحيى من حي عن بينة وإن الله لسميع عليم إِذْ أَنتُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ الْقُصْوَى وَالرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدتَّمْ لاَخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِي الْمِيعَادِ وَلَـكِن لِّيَقْضِيَ اللّهُ أَمْراً كَانَ مَفْعُولاً لِّيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ وَيَحْيَى مَنْ حَيَّ عَن بَيِّنَةٍ وَإِنَّ اللّهَ لَسَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جب تم (مدینہ کی جانب) وادی کے قریبی کنارے پر تھے اور وہ (کفّار دوسری جانب) دور والے کنارے پر تھے اور (تجارتی) قافلہ تم سے نیچے تھا، اور اگر تم آپس میں (جنگ کے لئے) کوئی وعدہ کر لیتے تو ضرور (اپنے) وعدہ سے مختلف (وقتوں میں) پہنچتے لیکن (اللہ نے تمہیں بغیر وعدہ ایک ہی وقت پر جمع فرما دیا) یہ اس لئے (ہوا) کہ اللہ اس کام کو پورا فرما دے جو ہو کر رہنے والا تھا تاکہ جس شخص کو مرنا ہے وہ حجت (تمام ہونے) سے مرے اور جسے جینا ہے وہ حجت (تمام ہونے) سے جئے (یعنی ہر کسی کے سامنے اسلام اور رسول برحق صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی صداقت پر حجت قائم ہو جائے)، اور بیشک اللہ خوب سننے والا جاننے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Remember ye were on the hither side of the valley, and they on the farther side, and the caravan on lower ground than ye. Even if ye had made a mutual appointment to meet, ye would certainly have failed in the appointment: But (thus ye met), that Allah might accomplish a matter already enacted; that those who died might die after a clear Sign (had been given), and those who lived might live after a Clear Sign (had been given). And verily Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).

[8:44] | Wa-ith yureekumoohum ithiiltaqaytum fee aAAyunikum qaleelan wayuqallilukum fee aAAyunihimliyaqdiya Allahu amran kana mafAAoolan wa-ilaAllahi turjaAAu al-omooru | وإذ يريكموهم إذ التقيتم في أعينكم قليلا ويقللكم في أعينهم ليقضي الله أمرا كان مفعولا وإلى الله ترجع الأمور وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ الْتَقَيْتُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلاً وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِيَ اللّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولاً وَإِلَى اللّهِ تُرْجَعُ الْأُمُورُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (وہ منظر بھی انہیں یاد دلائیے) جب اس نے ان کافروں (کی فوج) کو باہم مقابلہ کے وقت (بھی محض) تمہاری آنکھوں میں تمہیں تھوڑا کر کے دکھایا اور تمہیں ان کی آنکھوں میں تھوڑا دکھلایا (تاکہ دونوں لشکر لڑائی میں مستعد رہیں) یہ اس لئے کہ اللہ اس (بھر پور جنگ کے نتیجے میں کفار کی شکستِ فاش کے) امر کو پورا کر دے جو (عند اللہ) مقرر ہو چکا تھا، اور (بالآخر) اللہ ہی کی طرف تمام کام لوٹائے جاتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And remember when ye met, He showed them to you as few in your eyes, and He made you appear as contemptible in their eyes: that Allah might accomplish a matter already enacted. For to Allah do all questions go back (for decision).

[8:45] | Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha laqeetum fi-atan faothbutoo waothkurooAllaha katheeran laAAallakum tuflihoona | يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا لقيتم فئة فاثبتوا واذكروا الله كثيرا لعلكم تفلحون يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةً فَاثْبُتُواْ وَاذْكُرُواْ اللّهَ كَثِيرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے ایمان والو! جب (دشمن کی) کسی فوج سے تمہارا مقابلہ ہو تو ثابت قدم رہا کرو اور اللہ کو کثرت سے یاد کیا کرو تاکہ تم فلاح پاجاؤ | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye who believe! When ye meet a force, be firm, and call Allah in remembrance much (and often); that ye may prosper:

[8:46] | WaateeAAoo Allaha warasoolahuwala tanazaAAoo fatafshaloo watathhaba reehukumwaisbiroo inna Allaha maAAa alssabireena | وأطيعوا الله ورسوله ولا تنازعوا فتفشلوا وتذهب ريحكم واصبروا إن الله مع الصابرين وَأَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلاَ تَنَازَعُواْ فَتَفْشَلُواْ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ وَاصْبِرُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اللہ اور اس کے رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کی اطاعت کرو اور آپس میں جھگڑا مت کرو ورنہ (متفرق اور کمزور ہو کر) بزدل ہو جاؤ گے اور (دشمنوں کے سامنے) تمہاری ہوا (یعنی قوت) اکھڑ جائے گی اور صبر کرو، بیشک اللہ صبر کرنے والوں کے ساتھ ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And obey Allah and His Messenger; and fall into no disputes, lest ye lose heart and your power depart; and be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere:

[8:47] | Wala takoonoo kaallatheenakharajoo min diyarihim bataran wari-aa alnnasiwayasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi waAllahubima yaAAmaloona muheetun | ولا تكونوا كالذين خرجوا من ديارهم بطرا ورئاء الناس ويصدون عن سبيل الله والله بما يعملون محيط وَلاَ تَكُونُواْ كَالَّذِينَ خَرَجُواْ مِن دِيَارِهِم بَطَرًا وَرِئَاءَ النَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ایسے لوگوں کی طرح نہ ہو جاؤ جو اپنے گھروں سے اِتراتے ہوئے اور لوگوں کو دکھلاتے ہوئے نکلے تھے اور (جو لوگوں کو) اللہ کی راہ سے روکتے تھے، اور اللہ ان کاموں کو جو وہ کر رہے ہیں (اپنے علم و قدرت کے ساتھ) احاطہ کئے ہوئے ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And be not like those who started from their homes insolently and to be seen of men, and to hinder (men) from the path of Allah: For Allah compasseth round about all that they do.

[8:48] | Wa-ith zayyana lahumu alshshaytanuaAAmalahum waqala la ghaliba lakumualyawma mina alnnasi wa-innee jarun lakumfalamma taraati alfi-atani nakasaAAala AAaqibayhi waqala innee baree-on minkum inneeara ma la tarawna innee akhafu AllahawaAllahu shadeedu alAAiqabi | وإذ زين لهم الشيطان أعمالهم وقال لا غالب لكم اليوم من الناس وإني جار لكم فلما تراءت الفئتان نكص على عقبيه وقال إني بريء منكم إني أرى ما لا ترون إني أخاف الله والله شديد العقاب وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَقَالَ لاَ غَالِبَ لَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَإِنِّي جَارٌ لَّكُمْ فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَتِ الْفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّنكُمْ إِنِّي أَرَى مَا لاَ تَرَوْنَ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ اللّهَ وَاللّهُ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب شیطان نے ان (کافروں) کے لئے ان کے اَعمال خوش نما کر دکھائے اور اس نے (ان سے) کہا: آج لوگوں میں سے کوئی تم پر غالب نہیں (ہو سکتا) اور بیشک میں تمہیں پناہ دینے والا (مددگار) ہوں۔ پھر جب دونوں فوجوں نے ایک دوسرے کو (مقابل) دیکھ لیا تو وہ الٹے پاؤں بھاگ گیا اور کہنے لگا: بیشک میں تم سے بے زار ہوں، یقیناً میں وہ (کچھ) دیکھ رہا ہوں جو تم نہیں دیکھتے، بیشک میں اللہ سے ڈرتا ہوں، اور اللہ سخت عذاب دینے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Remember Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them, and said: "No one among men can overcome you this day, while I am near to you": But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he turned on his heels, and said: "Lo! I am clear of you; lo! I see what ye see not; Lo! I fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment."

[8:49] | Ith yaqoolu almunafiqoona waallatheenafee quloobihim maradun gharra haola-ideenuhum waman yatawakkal AAala Allahi fa-inna AllahaAAazeezun hakeemun | إذ يقول المنافقون والذين في قلوبهم مرض غر هؤلاء دينهم ومن يتوكل على الله فإن الله عزيز حكيم إِذْ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ غَرَّ هَـؤُلاَءِ دِينُهُمْ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللّهِ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (وہ وقت بھی یاد کرو) جب منافقین اور وہ لوگ جن کے دل میں (کفر کی) بیماری ہے کہہ رہے تھے کہ ان (مسلمانوں) کو ان کے دین نے بڑا مغرور کر رکھا ہے، (جبکہ حقیقتِ حال یہ ہے کہ) جو کوئی اللہ پر توکل کرتا ہے تو (اللہ اس کے جملہ امور کا کفیل ہو جاتا ہے)، بیشک اللہ بہت غالب بڑی حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Lo! the hypocrites say, and those in whose hearts is a disease: "These people,- their religion has misled them." But if any trust in Allah, behold! Allah is Exalted in might, Wise.

[8:50] | Walaw tara ith yatawaffaallatheena kafaroo almala-ikatu yadriboonawujoohahum waadbarahum wathooqoo AAathaba alhareeqi | ولو ترى إذ يتوفى الذين كفروا الملائكة يضربون وجوههم وأدبارهم وذوقوا عذاب الحريق وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ الْمَلَآئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ وَذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر آپ (وہ منظر) دیکھیں (تو بڑا تعجب کریں) جب فرشتے کافروں کی جان قبض کرتے ہیں وہ ان کے چہروں اور ان کی پشتوں پر (ہتھوڑے) مارتے جاتے ہیں اور (کہتے ہیں کہ دوزخ کی) آگ کا عذاب چکھ لو | ||||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ (عذاب) ان (اعمالِ بد) کے بدلہ میں ہے جو تمہارے ہاتھوں نے آگے بھیجے اور اللہ ہرگز بندوں پر ظلم فرمانے والا نہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Because of (the deeds) which your (own) hands sent forth; for Allah is never unjust to His servants:

[8:52] | Kada/bi ali firAAawna waallatheenamin qablihim kafaroo bi-ayati Allahi faakhathahumuAllahu bithunoobihim inna Allaha qawiyyunshadeedu alAAiqabi | كدأب آل فرعون والذين من قبلهم كفروا بآيات الله فأخذهم الله بذنوبهم إن الله قوي شديد العقاب كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَفَرُواْ بِآيَاتِ اللّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (ان کافروں کا حال بھی) قومِ فرعون اور ان سے پہلے کے لوگوں کے حال کی مانند ہے۔ انہوں نے (بھی) اللہ کی آیات کا انکار کیا تھا، سو اللہ نے انہیں ان کے گناہوں کے باعث (عذاب میں) پکڑ لیا۔ بیشک اللہ قوت والا سخت عذاب دینے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "(Deeds) after the manner of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them: They rejected the Signs of Allah, and Allah punished them for their crimes: for Allah is Strong, and Strict in punishment:

[8:53] | Thalika bi-anna Allaha lamyaku mughayyiran niAAmatan anAAamaha AAala qawmin hattayughayyiroo ma bi-anfusihim waanna Allaha sameeAAunAAaleemun | ذلك بأن الله لم يك مغيرا نعمة أنعمها على قوم حتى يغيروا ما بأنفسهم وأن الله سميع عليم ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِّعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَى قَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَأَنَّ اللّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ (عذاب) اس وجہ سے ہے کہ اللہ کسی نعمت کو ہرگز بدلنے والا نہیں جو اس نے کسی قوم پر اَرزانی فرمائی ہو یہاں تک کہ وہ لوگ اَز خود اپنی حالتِ نعمت کو بدل دیں (یعنی کفرانِ نعمت اور معصیت و نافرمانی کے مرتکب ہوں اور پھر ان میں احساسِ زیاں بھی باقی نہ رہے تب وہ قوم ہلاکت و بربادی کی زد میں آجاتی ہے)، بیشک اللہ خوب سننے والا جاننے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Because Allah will never change the grace which He hath bestowed on a people until they change what is in their (own) souls: and verily Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things)."

[8:54] | Kada/bi ali firAAawna waallatheenamin qablihim kaththaboo bi-ayati rabbihimfaahlaknahum bithunoobihim waaghraqna alafirAAawna wakullun kanoo thalimeena | كدأب آل فرعون والذين من قبلهم كذبوا بآيات ربهم فأهلكناهم بذنوبهم وأغرقنا آل فرعون وكل كانوا ظالمين كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَذَّبُواْ بآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فِرْعَونَ وَكُلٌّ كَانُواْ ظَالِمِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ (عذاب بھی) قومِ فرعون اور ان سے پہلے کے لوگوں کے دستور کی مانند ہے، انہوں نے (بھی) اپنے رب کی نشانیوں کو جھٹلایا تھا سو ہم نے ان کے گناہوں کے باعث انہیں ہلاک کر ڈالا اور ہم نے فرعون والوں کو (دریا میں) غرق کر دیا اور وہ سب کے سب ظالم تھے | ||||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک اللہ کے نزدیک سب جانوروں سے (بھی) بدتر وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے کفر کیا پھر وہ ایمان نہیں لاتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | For the worst of beasts in the sight of Allah are those who reject Him: They will not believe.

| 27. [8:56] | Allatheena AAahadta minhumthumma yanqudoona AAahdahum fee kulli marratin wahum layattaqoona | الذين عاهدت منهم ثم ينقضون عهدهم في كل مرة وهم لا يتقون الَّذِينَ عَاهَدتَّ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ وَهُمْ لاَ يَتَّقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ (وہ) لوگ ہیں جن سے آپ نے (بارہا) عہد لیا پھر وہ ہر بار اپنا عہد توڑ ڈالتے ہیں اور وہ (اللہ سے) نہیں ڈرتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They are those with whom thou didst make a covenant, but they break their covenant every time, and they have not the fear (of Allah).

| 28. [8:57] | Fa-imma tathqafannahum fee alharbifasharrid bihim man khalfahum laAAallahum yaththakkaroona | فإما تثقفنهم في الحرب فشرد بهم من خلفهم لعلهم يذكرون فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم مَّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو اگر آپ انہیں (میدانِ) جنگ میں پالیں تو ان کے عبرت ناک قتل کے ذریعے ان کے پچھلوں کو (بھی) بھگا دیں تاکہ انہیں نصیحت حاصل ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If ye gain the mastery over them in war, disperse, with them, those who follow them, that they may remember.

[8:58] | Wa-imma takhafanna min qawminkhiyanatan fainbith ilayhim AAalasawa-in inna Allaha la yuhibbu alkha-ineena | وإما تخافن من قوم خيانة فانبذ إليهم على سواء إن الله لا يحب الخائنين وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِن قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَانبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَى سَوَاءٍ إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْخَائِنِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اگر آپ کو کسی قوم سے خیانت کا اندیشہ ہو تو ان کا عہد ان کی طرف برابری کی بنیاد پر پھینک دیں۔ بیشک اللہ دغابازوں کو پسند نہیں کرتا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If thou fearest treachery from any group, throw back (their covenant) to them, (so as to be) on equal terms: for Allah loveth not the treacherous.

| 30. [8:59] | Wala yahsabanna allatheenakafaroo sabaqoo innahum la yuAAjizoona | ولا يحسبن الذين كفروا سبقوا إنهم لا يعجزون وَلاَ يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَبَقُواْ إِنَّهُمْ لاَ يُعْجِزُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور کافر لوگ اس گمان میں ہرگز نہ رہیں کہ وہ (بچ کر) نکل گئے۔ بیشک وہ (ہمیں) عاجز نہیں کر سکتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Let not the unbelievers think that they can get the better (of the godly): they will never frustrate (them).
