| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [20:59] | Qala mawAAidukum yawmu alzzeenatiwaan yuhshara alnnasu duhan |  قال موعدكم يوم الزينة وأن يحشر الناس ضحىقَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ الزِّينَةِ وَأَن يُحْشَرَ النَّاسُ ضُحًى | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: تمہارے وعدے کا دن یومِ عید (سالانہ جشن کا دن) ہے اور یہ کہ (اس دن) سارے لوگ چاشت کے وقت جمع ہوجائیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Moses said: "Your tryst is the Day of the Festival, and let the people be assembled when the sun is well up."

| Words | |قال - He said,| موعدكم - "Your appointment| يوم - (is on the) day| الزينة - (of) the festival,| وأن - and that| يحشر - will be assembled| الناس - the people| ضحى - (at) forenoon."| | ||||||
| 2. [20:60] | Fatawalla firAAawnu fajamaAAa kaydahuthumma ata | فتولى فرعون فجمع كيده ثم أتى فَتَوَلَّى فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُ ثُمَّ أَتَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر فرعون (مجلس سے) واپس مڑ گیا سو اس نے اپنے مکر و فریب (کی تدبیروں) کو اکٹھا کیا پھر (مقررہ وقت پر) آگیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So Pharaoh withdrew: He concerted his plan, and then came (back).

| Words | |فتولى - Then went away| فرعون - Firaun| فجمع - and put together| كيده - his plan,| ثم - then| أتى - came.| | ||||||

[20:61] | Qala lahum moosa waylakum lataftaroo AAala Allahi kathiban fayushitakumbiAAathabin waqad khaba mani iftara | قال لهم موسى ويلكم لا تفتروا على الله كذبا فيسحتكم بعذاب وقد خاب من افترى قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَى وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُمْ بِعَذَابٍ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ افْتَرَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | موسٰی (علیہ السلام) نے ان (جادوگروں) سے فرمایا: تم پر افسوس (خبردار!) اللہ پر جھوٹا بہتان مت باندھنا ورنہ وہ تمہیں عذاب کے ذریعے تباہ و برباد کردے گا اور واقعی وہ شخص نامراد ہوا جس نے (اللہ پر) بہتان باندھا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Moses said to him: Woe to you! Forge not ye a lie against Allah, lest He destroy you (at once) utterly by chastisement: the forger must suffer frustration!"

| 4. [20:62] | FatanazaAAoo amrahum baynahumwaasarroo alnnajwa | فتنازعوا أمرهم بينهم وأسروا النجوى فَتَنَازَعُوا أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا النَّجْوَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | چنانچہ وہ (جادوگر) اپنے معاملہ میں باہم جھگڑ پڑے اور چپکے چپکے سرگوشیاں کرنے لگے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So they disputed, one with another, over their affair, but they kept their talk secret.

| Words | |فتنازعوا - Then they disputed| أمرهم - (in) their affair| بينهم - among them,| وأسروا - and they kept secret| النجوى - the private conversation.| | ||||||

[20:63] | Qaloo in hathani lasahiraniyureedani an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihimawayathhaba bitareeqatikumu almuthla | قالوا إن هذان لساحران يريدان أن يخرجاكم من أرضكم بسحرهما ويذهبا بطريقتكم المثلى قَالُوا إِنْ هَذَانِ لَسَاحِرَانِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخْرِجَاكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ الْمُثْلَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کہنے لگے: یہ دونوں واقعی جادوگر ہیں جو یہ ارادہ رکھتے ہیں کہ تمہیں جادو کے ذریعہ تمہاری سر زمین سے نکال باہر کریں اور تمہارے مثالی مذہب و ثقافت کو نابود کردیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "These two are certainly (expert) magicians: their object is to drive you out from your land with their magic, and to do away with your most cherished institutions.

| Words | |قالوا - They said,| إن - "Indeed,| هذان - these two| لساحران - [two] magicians| يريدان - they intend| أن - that| يخرجاكم - they drive you out| من - of| أرضكم - your land| بسحرهما - with their magic| ويذهبا - and do away| بطريقتكم - with your way| المثلى - the exemplary.| | ||||||
| 6. [20:64] | FaajmiAAoo kaydakum thumma i/too saffanwaqad aflaha alyawma mani istaAAla | فأجمعوا كيدكم ثم ائتوا صفا وقد أفلح اليوم من استعلى فَأَجْمِعُوا كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ائْتُوا صَفًّا وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْيَوْمَ مَنِ اسْتَعْلَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (انہوں نے باہم فیصلہ کیا) پس تم (جادو کی) اپنی ساری تدابیر جمع کر لو پھر قطار باندھ کر (اکٹھے ہی) میدان میں آجاؤ، اور آج کے دن وہی کامیاب رہے گا جو غالب آجائے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Therefore concert your plan, and then assemble in (serried) ranks: He wins (all along) today who gains the upper hand."

| Words | |فأجمعوا - So put together| كيدكم - your plan| ثم - then| ائتوا - come| صفا - (in) a line.| وقد - And verily,| أفلح - (will be) successful| اليوم - today| من - who| استعلى - overcomes."| | ||||||
| 7. [20:65] | Qaloo ya moosa immaan tulqiya wa-imma an nakoona awwala man alqa | قالوا يا موسى إما أن تلقي وإما أن نكون أول من ألقى قَالُوا يَا مُوسَى إِمَّا أَن تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَن نَّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (جادوگر) بولے: اے موسٰی! یا تو تم (اپنی چیز) ڈالو اور یا ہم ہی پہلے ڈالنے والے ہوجائیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "O Moses! whether wilt thou that thou throw (first) or that we be the first to throw?"

| Words | |قالوا - They said,| يا - O| موسى - "O Musa!| إما - Either| أن - [that]| تلقي - you throw| وإما - or| أن - [that]| نكون - we will be| أول - the first| من - who| ألقى - throws?"| | ||||||
| 8. [20:66] | Qala bal alqoo fa-itha hibaluhumwaAAisiyyuhum yukhayyalu ilayhi min sihrihim annahatasAAa | قال بل ألقوا فإذا حبالهم وعصيهم يخيل إليه من سحرهم أنها تسعى قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُوا فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِن سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: بلکہ تم ہی ڈال دو، پھر کیا تھا اچانک ان کی رسیاں اور ان کی لاٹھیاں ان کے جادو کے اثر سے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کے خیال میں یوں محسوس ہونے لگیں جیسے وہ (میدان میں) دوڑ رہی ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He said, "Nay, throw ye first!" Then behold their ropes and their rods-so it seemed to him on account of their magic - began to be in lively motion!

| Words | |قال - He said,| بل - "Nay,| ألقوا - you throw."| فإذا - Then behold!| حبالهم - Their ropes| وعصيهم - and their staffs| يخيل - seemed| إليه - to him| من - by| سحرهم - their magic| أنها - that they| تسعى - (were) moving.| | ||||||
| 9. [20:67] | Faawjasa fee nafsihi kheefatan moosa | فأوجس في نفسه خيفة موسى فَأَوْجَسَ فِي نَفْسِهِ خِيفَةً مُّوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | تو موسٰی (علیہ السلام) اپنے دل میں ایک چھپا ہوا خوف سا پانے لگے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So Moses conceived in his mind a (sort of) fear.

| Words | |فأوجس - So sensed| في - in| نفسه - himself| خيفة - a fear,| موسى - Musa.| | ||||||
| 10. [20:68] | Qulna la takhaf innaka antaal-aAAla | قلنا لا تخف إنك أنت الأعلى قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْأَعْلَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ہم نے (موسٰی علیہ السلام سے) فرمایا: خوف مت کرو بیشک تم ہی غالب رہوگے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We said: "Fear not! for thou hast indeed the upper hand:

| Words | |قلنا - We said,| لا - "(Do) not| تخف - fear.| إنك - Indeed, you| أنت - you| الأعلى - (will be) superior.| | ||||||

[20:69] | Waalqi ma fee yameenika talqaf masanaAAoo innama sanaAAoo kaydu sahirinwala yuflihu alssahiru haythuata | وألق ما في يمينك تلقف ما صنعوا إنما صنعوا كيد ساحر ولا يفلح الساحر حيث أتى وَأَلْقِ مَا فِي يَمِينِكَ تَلْقَفْ مَا صَنَعُوا إِنَّمَا صَنَعُوا كَيْدُ سَاحِرٍ وَلَا يُفْلِحُ السَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَتَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور تم (اس لاٹھی کو) جو تمہارے داہنے ہاتھ میں ہے (زمین پر) ڈال دو وہ اس (فریب) کو نگل جائے گی جو انہوں نے (مصنوعی طور پر) بنا رکھا ہے۔ جو کچھ انہوں نے بنا رکھا ہے (وہ تو) فقط جادوگر کا فریب ہے، اور جادوگر جہاں کہیں بھی آئے گا فلاح نہیں پائے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Throw that which is in thy right hand: Quickly will it swallow up that which they have faked what they have faked is but a magician's trick: and the magician thrives not, (no matter) where he goes."

| Words | |وألق - And throw| ما - what| في - (is) in| يمينك - your right hand;| تلقف - it will swallow up| ما - what| صنعوا - they have made.| إنما - Only| صنعوا - they (have) made| كيد - a trick| ساحر - (of) a magician| ولا - and not| يفلح - will be successful| الساحر - the magician| حيث - wherever| أتى - he comes."| | ||||||
| 12. [20:70] | Faolqiya alssaharatu sujjadanqaloo amanna birabbi haroona wamoosa | فألقي السحرة سجدا قالوا آمنا برب هارون وموسى فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدًا قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَارُونَ وَمُوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (پھر ایسا ہی ہوا) پس سارے جادوگر سجدہ میں گر پڑے کہنے لگے: ہم ہارون اور موسٰی (علیہما السلام) کے رب پر ایمان لے آئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So the magicians were thrown down to prostration: they said, "We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses".

| Words | |فألقي - So were thrown down| السحرة - the magicians| سجدا - prostrating.| قالوا - They said,| آمنا - "We believe| برب - in (the) Lord| هارون - (of) Harun| وموسى - and Musa."| | ||||||

[20:71] | Qala amantum lahu qabla an athanalakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihrafalaoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafinwalaosallibannakum fee juthooAAi alnnakhliwalataAAlamunna ayyuna ashaddu AAathaban waabqa | قال آمنتم له قبل أن آذن لكم إنه لكبيركم الذي علمكم السحر فلأقطعن أيديكم وأرجلكم من خلاف ولأصلبنكم في جذوع النخل ولتعلمن أينا أشد عذابا وأبقى قَالَ آمَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِي جُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَا أَشَدُّ عَذَابًا وَأَبْقَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (فرعون) کہنے لگا: تم اس پر ایمان لے آئے ہو قبل اس کے کہ میں تمہیں اجازت دوں، بیشک وہ (موسٰی) تمہارا (بھی) بڑا (استاد) ہے جس نے تم کو جادو سکھایا ہے، پس (اب) میں ضرور تمہارے ہاتھ اور تمہارے پاؤں الٹی سمتوں سے کاٹوں گا اور تمہیں ضرور کھجور کے تنوں میں سولی چڑھاؤں گا اور تم ضرور جان لوگے کہ ہم میں سے کون عذاب دینے میں زیادہ سخت اور زیادہ مدت تک باقی رہنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Pharaoh) said: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this must be your leader, who has taught you magic! be sure I will cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will have you crucified on trunks of palm-trees: so shall ye know for certain, which of us can give the more severe and the more lasting punishment!"

| Words | |قال - He said,| آمنتم - "You believe| له - [to] him| قبل - before| أن - [that]| آذن - I gave permission| لكم - to you.| إنه - Indeed, he| لكبيركم - (is) your chief,| الذي - the one who| علمكم - taught you| السحر - the magic.| فلأقطعن - So surely I will cut off| أيديكم - your hands| وأرجلكم - and your feet| من - of| خلاف - opposite sides,| ولأصلبنكم - and surely I will crucify you| في - on| جذوع - (the) trunks| النخل - (of) date-palms| ولتعلمن - and surely you will know| أينا - which of us| أشد - (is) more severe| عذابا - (in) punishment| وأبقى - and more lasting."| | ||||||

[20:73] | Inna amanna birabbinaliyaghfira lana khatayana wamaakrahtana AAalayhi mina alssihri waAllahukhayrun waabqa | إنا آمنا بربنا ليغفر لنا خطايانا وما أكرهتنا عليه من السحر والله خير وأبقى إِنَّا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَايَانَا وَمَا أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السِّحْرِ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک ہم اپنے رب پر ایمان لائے ہیں تاکہ وہ ہماری خطائیں بخش دے اور اسے بھی (معاف فرما دے) جس جادوگری پر تو نے ہمیں مجبور کیا تھا، اور اللہ ہی بہتر ہے اور ہمیشہ باقی رہنے والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "For us, we have believed in our Lord: may He forgive us our faults, and the magic to which thou didst compel us: for Allah is Best and Most Abiding."

[20:72] | Qaloo lan nu/thiraka AAala majaana mina albayyinati waallatheefatarana faiqdi ma anta qadininnama taqdee hathihi alhayataalddunya | قالوا لن نؤثرك على ما جاءنا من البينات والذي فطرنا فاقض ما أنت قاض إنما تقضي هذه الحياة الدنيا قَالُوا لَن نُّؤْثِرَكَ عَلَى مَا جَاءَنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالَّذِي فَطَرَنَا فَاقْضِ مَا أَنتَ قَاضٍ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِي هَذِهِ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (جادوگروں نے) کہا: ہم تمہیں ہرگز ان واضح دلائل پر ترجیح نہیں دیں گے جو ہمارے پاس آچکے ہیں، اس (رب) کی قسم جس نے ہمیں پیدا فرمایا ہے! تو جو حکم کرنے والا ہے کر لے، تُو فقط (اس چند روزہ) دنیوی زندگی ہی سے متعلق فیصلہ کر سکتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "Never shall we regard thee as more than the Clear Signs that have come to us, or than Him Who created us! so decree whatever thou desirest to decree: for thou canst only decree (touching) the life of this world.

| Words | |قالوا - They said,| لن - "Never| نؤثرك - we will prefer you| على - over| ما - what| جاءنا - has come to us| من - of| البينات - the clear proofs,| والذي - and the One Who| فطرنا - created us.| فاقض - So decree| ما - whatever| أنت - you| قاض - (are) decreeing.| إنما - Only| تقضي - you can decree| هذه - (for) this| الحياة - life| الدنيا - (of) the world.| | ||||||
| 16. [20:74] | Innahu man ya/ti rabbahu mujriman fa-innalahu jahannama la yamootu feeha wala yahya | إنه من يأت ربه مجرما فإن له جهنم لا يموت فيها ولا يحيى إِنَّهُ مَن يَأْتِ رَبَّهُ مُجْرِمًا فَإِنَّ لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک جو شخص اپنے رب کے پاس مجرم بن کر آئے گا تو بیشک اس کے لئے جہنم ہے، (اور وہ ایسا عذاب ہے کہ) نہ وہ اس میں مر سکے گا اور نہ ہی زندہ رہے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Verily he who comes to his Lord as a sinner (at Judgment),- for him is Hell: therein shall he neither die nor live.

| Words | |إنه - Indeed, he| من - who| يأت - comes| ربه - (to) his Lord| مجرما - (as) a criminal| فإن - then indeed,| له - for him| جهنم - (is) Hell.| لا - Not| يموت - he will die| فيها - in it| ولا - and not| يحيى - live.| | ||||||
| 17. [20:75] | Waman ya/tihi mu/minan qad AAamila alssalihatifaola-ika lahumu alddarajatu alAAula | ومن يأته مؤمنا قد عمل الصالحات فأولئك لهم الدرجات العلى وَمَنْ يَأْتِهِ مُؤْمِنًا قَدْ عَمِلَ الصَّالِحَاتِ فَأُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمُ الدَّرَجَاتُ الْعُلَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو شخص اس کے حضور مومن بن کر آئے گا (مزید یہ کہ) اس نے نیک عمل کئے ہوں گے تو ان ہی لوگوں کے لئے بلند درجات ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But such as come to Him as Believers who have worked righteous deeds,- for them are ranks exalted,-

| Words | |ومن - But whoever| يأته - comes to Him| مؤمنا - (as) a believer| قد - verily,| عمل - he has done| الصالحات - the righteous deeds,| فأولئك - then those| لهم - for them| الدرجات - (will be) the ranks,| العلى - [the] high.| | ||||||
| 18. [20:76] | Jannatu AAadnin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha wathalikajazao man tazakka | جنات عدن تجري من تحتها الأنهار خالدين فيها وذلك جزاء من تزكى جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَذَلِكَ جَزَاءُ مَن تَزَكَّى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (وہ) سدا بہار باغات ہیں جن کے نیچے سے نہریں رواں ہیں (وہ) ان میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں، اور یہ اس شخص کا صلہ ہے جو (کفر و معصیت کی آلودگی سے) پاک ہو گیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Gardens of Eternity, beneath which flow rivers: they will dwell therein for aye: such is the reward of those who purify themselves (from evil).

| Words | |جنات - Gardens| عدن - (of) Eden| تجري - flows| من - from| تحتها - underneath them| الأنهار - the rivers,| خالدين - abiding forever| فيها - in it.| وذلك - And that| جزاء - (is) the reward| من - (for him) who| تزكى - purifies himself.| | ||||||

[20:77] | Walaqad awhayna ilamoosa an asri biAAibadee faidriblahum tareeqan fee albahri yabasan la takhafudarakan wala takhsha | ولقد أوحينا إلى موسى أن أسر بعبادي فاضرب لهم طريقا في البحر يبسا لا تخاف دركا ولا تخشى وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًا فِي الْبَحْرِ يَبَسًا لَّا تَخَافُ دَرَكًا وَلَا تَخْشَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک ہم نے موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کی طرف وحی بھیجی کہ میرے بندوں کو راتوں رات لے کر نکل جاؤ، سو ان کے لئے دریا میں (اپنا عصا مار کر) خشک راستہ بنا لو، نہ (فرعون کے) آپکڑنے کا خوف کرو اور نہ (غرق ہونے کا) اندیشہ رکھو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We sent an inspiration to Moses: "Travel by night with My servants, and strike a dry path for them through the sea, without fear of being overtaken (by Pharaoh) and without (any other) fear."

| 20. [20:78] | FaatbaAAahum firAAawnu bijunoodihifaghashiyahum mina alyammi ma ghashiyahum | فأتبعهم فرعون بجنوده فغشيهم من اليم ما غشيهم فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِ فَغَشِيَهُم مِّنَ الْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ | |||||

| Yousuf Ali | Then Pharaoh pursued them with his forces, but the waters completely overwhelmed them and covered them up.

| Tahir ul Qadri | اور فرعون نے اپنی قوم کو گمراہ کردیا اور انہیں سیدھے راستہ پر نہ لگایا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Pharaoh led his people astray instead of leading them aright.

[20:80] | Ya banee isra-eela qad anjaynakummin AAaduwwikum wawaAAadnakum janiba alttoorial-aymana wanazzalna AAalaykumu almanna waalssalwa | يا بني إسرائيل قد أنجيناكم من عدوكم وواعدناكم جانب الطور الأيمن ونزلنا عليكم المن والسلوى يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَدْ أَنْجَيْنَاكُم مِّنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَاعَدْنَاكُمْ جَانِبَ الطُّورِ الْأَيْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اے بنی اسرائیل! (دیکھو) بیشک ہم نے تمہیں تمہارے دشمن سے نجات بخشی اور ہم نے تم سے (کوہِ) طور کی داہنی جانب (آنے کا) وعدہ کیا اور (وہاں) ہم نے تم پر من و سلوٰی اتارا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | O ye Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a Covenant with you on the right side of Mount (Sinai), and We sent down to you Manna and quails:

| Words | |يا - O| بني - O Children of Israel!| إسرائيل - O Children of Israel!| قد - Verily,| أنجيناكم - We delivered you| من - from| عدوكم - your enemy,| وواعدناكم - and We made a covenant with you| جانب - on (the) side| الطور - (of) the Mount| الأيمن - the right,| ونزلنا - and We sent down| عليكم - to you| المن - the Manna| والسلوى - and the quails.| | ||||||

[20:81] | Kuloo min tayyibati marazaqnakum wala tatghaw feehi fayahillaAAalaykum ghadabee waman yahlil AAalayhi ghadabeefaqad hawa | كلوا من طيبات ما رزقناكم ولا تطغوا فيه فيحل عليكم غضبي ومن يحلل عليه غضبي فقد هوى كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِي وَمَن يَحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِي فَقَدْ هَوَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (اور تم سے فرمایا:) ان پاکیزہ چیزوں میں سے کھاؤ جن کی ہم نے تمہیں روزی دی ہے اور اس میں حد سے نہ بڑھو ورنہ تم پر میرا غضب واجب ہو جائے گا، اور جس پر میرا غضب واجب ہوگیا سو وہ واقعی ہلاک ہوگیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Saying): "Eat of the good things We have provided for your sustenance, but commit no excess therein, lest My Wrath should justly descend on you: and those on whom descends My Wrath do perish indeed!

| 24. [20:82] | Wa-innee laghaffarun liman tabawaamana waAAamila salihan thumma ihtada | وإني لغفار لمن تاب وآمن وعمل صالحا ثم اهتدى وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک میں بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا ہوں اس شخص کو جس نے توبہ کی اور ایمان لایا اور نیک عمل کیا پھر ہدایت پر (قائم) رہا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "But, without doubt, I am (also) He that forgives again and again, to those who repent, believe, and do right, who,- in fine, are ready to receive true guidance."

| Words | |وإني - But indeed, I Am| لغفار - the Perpetual Forgiver| لمن - of whoever| تاب - repents| وآمن - and believes| وعمل - and does| صالحا - righteous (deeds)| ثم - then| اهتدى - remains guided.| | ||||||
| 25. [20:83] | Wama aAAjalaka AAan qawmika yamoosa | وما أعجلك عن قومك يا موسى وَمَا أَعْجَلَكَ عَن قَوْمِكَ يَا مُوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اے موسٰی! تم نے اپنی قوم سے (پہلے طور پر آجانے میں) جلدی کیوں کی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (When Moses was up on the Mount, Allah said:) "What made thee hasten in advance of thy people, O Moses?"

| Words | |وما - "And what| أعجلك - made you hasten| عن - from| قومك - your people,| يا - O| موسى - O Musa?"| | ||||||
| 26. [20:84] | Qala hum ola-i AAalaatharee waAAajiltu ilayka rabbi litarda | قال هم أولاء على أثري وعجلت إليك رب لترضى قَالَ هُمْ أُولَاءِ عَلَى أَثَرِي وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) عرض کیا: وہ لوگ بھی میرے پیچھے آرہے ہیں اور میں نے (غلبۂ شوق و محبت میں) تیرے حضور پہنچنے میں جلدی کی ہے اے میرے رب! تاکہ تو راضی ہو جائے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He replied: "Behold, they are close on my footsteps: I hastened to thee, O my Lord, to please thee."

| Words | |قال - He said,| هم - "They| أولاء - (are) close| على - upon| أثري - my tracks,| وعجلت - and I hastened| إليك - to you| رب - my Lord,| لترضى - that You be pleased."| | ||||||
| 27. [20:85] | Qala fa-inna qad fatannaqawmaka min baAAdika waadallahumu alssamiriyyu | قال فإنا قد فتنا قومك من بعدك وأضلهم السامري قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِن بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ارشاد ہوا: بیشک ہم نے تمہارے (آنے کے) بعد تمہاری قوم کو فتنہ میں مبتلا کر دیا ہے اور انہیں سامری نے گمراہ کر ڈالا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Allah) said: "We have tested thy people in thy absence: the Samiri has led them astray."

| Words | |قال - He said,| فإنا - "But indeed, We| قد - [verily]| فتنا - We (have) tried| قومك - your people| من - after you| بعدك - after you| وأضلهم - and has led them astray| السامري - the Samiri."| | ||||||

[20:87] | Qaloo ma akhlafnamawAAidaka bimalkina walakinna hummilnaawzaran min zeenati alqawmi faqathafnahafakathalika alqa alssamiriyyu | قالوا ما أخلفنا موعدك بملكنا ولكنا حملنا أوزارا من زينة القوم فقذفناها فكذلك ألقى السامري قَالُوا مَا أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَا أَوْزَارًا مِّن زِينَةِ الْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَاهَا فَكَذَلِكَ أَلْقَى السَّامِرِيُّ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ بولے: ہم نے اپنے اختیار سے آپ کے وعدہ کی خلاف ورزی نہیں کی مگر (ہوا یہ کہ) قوم کے زیورات کے بھاری بوجھ ہم پر لاد دیئے گئے تھے تو ہم نے انہیں (آگ میں) ڈال دیا پھر اسی طرح سامری نے (بھی) ڈال دیئے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They said: "We broke not the promise to thee, as far as lay in our power: but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the (whole) people, and we threw them (into the fire), and that was what the Samiri suggested.

| Words | |قالوا - They said,| ما - "Not| أخلفنا - we broke| موعدك - promise to you| بملكنا - by our will,| ولكنا - but we| حملنا - [we] were made to carry| أوزارا - burdens| من - from| زينة - ornaments| القوم - (of) the people,| فقذفناها - so we threw them| فكذلك - and thus| ألقى - threw| السامري - the Samiri."| | ||||||

[20:86] | FarajaAAa moosa ila qawmihighadbana asifan qala ya qawmi alamyaAAidkum rabbukum waAAdan hasanan afatalaAAalaykumu alAAahdu am aradtum an yahilla AAalaykum ghadabunmin rabbikum faakhlaftum mawAAidee | فرجع موسى إلى قومه غضبان أسفا قال يا قوم ألم يعدكم ربكم وعدا حسنا أفطال عليكم العهد أم أردتم أن يحل عليكم غضب من ربكم فأخلفتم موعدي فَرَجَعَ مُوسَى إِلَى قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْعَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن يَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُم مَّوْعِدِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس موسٰی (علیہ السلام) اپنی قوم کی طرف سخت غضبناک (اور) رنجیدہ ہوکر پلٹ گئے (اور) فرمایا: اے میری قوم! کیا تمہارے رب نے تم سے ایک اچھا وعدہ نہیں فرمایا تھا، کیا تم پر وعدہ (کے پورے ہونے) میں طویل مدت گزر گئی تھی، کیا تم نے یہ چاہا کہ تم پر تمہارے رب کی طرف سے غضب واجب (اور نازل) ہوجائے؟ پس تم نے میرے وعدہ کی خلاف ورزی کی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | So Moses returned to his people in a state of indignation and sorrow. He said: "O my people! did not your Lord make a handsome promise to you? Did then the promise seem to you long (in coming)? Or did ye desire that Wrath should descend from your Lord on you, and so ye broke your promise to me?"

| Words | |فرجع - Then Musa returned| موسى - Then Musa returned| إلى - to| قومه - his people| غضبان - angry| أسفا - (and) sorrowful.| قال - He said,| يا - O| قوم - "O my people!| ألم - Did not| يعدكم - promise you| ربكم - your Lord| وعدا - a promise| حسنا - good?| أفطال - Then, did seem long| عليكم - to you| العهد - the promise,| أم - or| أردتم - did you desire| أن - that| يحل - descend| عليكم - upon you| غضب - (the) Anger| من - of| ربكم - your Lord,| فأخلفتم - so you broke| موعدي - (the) promise to me?"| | ||||||
| 30. [20:88] | Faakhraja lahum AAijlan jasadan lahu khuwarunfaqaloo hatha ilahukum wa-ilahu moosafanasiya | فأخرج لهم عجلا جسدا له خوار فقالوا هذا إلهكم وإله موسى فنسي فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَهُ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوا هَذَا إِلَهُكُمْ وَإِلَهُ مُوسَى فَنَسِيَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر اس (سامری) نے ان کے لئے (ان گلے ہوئے زیورات سے) ایک بچھڑے کا قالب (تیار کرکے) نکال لیا اس میں (سے) گائے کی سی آواز (نکلتی) تھی تو انہوں نے کہا: یہ تمہارا معبود ہے اور موسٰی (علیہ السلام) کا (بھی یہی) معبود ہے بس وہ (سامری یہاں پر) بھول گیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Then he brought out (of the fire) before the (people) the image of a calf: It seemed to low: so they said: This is your god, and the god of Moses, but (Moses) has forgotten!"
