| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [20:89] | Afala yarawna alla yarjiAAuilayhim qawlan wala yamliku lahum darran walanafAAan |  أفلا يرون ألا يرجع إليهم قولا ولا يملك لهم ضرا ولا نفعاأَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | بھلا کیا وہ (اتنا بھی) نہیں دیکھتے تھے کہ وہ (بچھڑا) انہیں کسی بات کا جواب (بھی) نہیں دے سکتا اور نہ ان کے لئے کسی نقصان کا اختیار رکھتا ہے اور نہ نفع کا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Could they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good?

[20:90] | Walaqad qala lahum haroonu minqablu ya qawmi innama futintum bihi wa-innarabbakumu alrrahmanu faittabiAAooneewaateeAAoo amree | ولقد قال لهم هارون من قبل يا قوم إنما فتنتم به وإن ربكم الرحمن فاتبعوني وأطيعوا أمري وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَارُونُ مِن قَبْلُ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنتُم بِهِ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ فَاتَّبِعُونِي وَأَطِيعُواْ أَمْرِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک ہارون (علیہ السلام) نے (بھی) ان کو اس سے پہلے (تنبیہاً) کہہ دیا تھا کہ اے قوم! تم اس (بچھڑے) کے ذریعہ تو بس فتنہ میں ہی مبتلا ہوگئے ہو، حالانکہ بیشک تمہارا رب (یہ نہیں وہی) رحمان ہے پس تم میری پیروی کرو اور میرے حکم کی اطاعت کرو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Aaron had already, before this said to them: "O my people! ye are being tested in this: for verily your Lord is (Allah) Most Gracious; so follow me and obey my command."

| 3. [20:91] | Qaloo lan nabraha AAalayhi AAakifeenahatta yarjiAAa ilayna moosa | قالوا لن نبرح عليه عاكفين حتى يرجع إلينا موسى قَالُوا لَن نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ بولی: ہم تو اسی (کی پوجا) پر جمے رہیں گے تاوقتیکہ موسٰی (علیہ السلام) ہماری طرف پلٹ آئیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They had said: "We will not abandon this cult, but we will devote ourselves to it until Moses returns to us."

| 4. [20:92] | Qala ya haroonu mamanaAAaka ith raaytahum dalloo | قال يا هارون ما منعك إذ رأيتهم ضلوا قَالَ يَا هَارُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: اے ہارون! تم کو کس چیز نے روکے رکھا جب تم نے دیکھا کہ یہ گمراہ ہو رہے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Moses) said: "O Aaron! what kept thee back, when thou sawest them going wrong,

| Words | |قال - He said,| يا - O| هارون - "O Harun!| ما - What| منعك - prevented you,| إذ - when| رأيتهم - you saw them| ضلوا - going astray,| | ||||||
| 5. [20:95] | Qala fama khatbuka yasamiriyyu | قال فما خطبك يا سامري قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَا سَامِرِيُّ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: اے سامری! (بتا) تیرا کیا معاملہ ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Moses) said: "What then is thy case, O Samiri?"

| Words | |قال - He said,| فما - "Then what| خطبك - (is) your case,| يا - O| سامري - O Samiri?"| | ||||||

[20:96] | Qala basurtu bima lamyabsuroo bihi faqabadtu qabdatan min atharialrrasooli fanabathtuha wakathalikasawwalat lee nafsee | قال بصرت بما لم يبصروا به فقبضت قبضة من أثر الرسول فنبذتها وكذلك سولت لي نفسي قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُوا بِهِ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةً مِّنْ أَثَرِ الرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِي نَفْسِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس نے کہا: میں نے وہ چیز دیکھی جو ان لوگوں نے نہیں دیکھی تھی سو میں نے اُس فرستادہ (فرشتے) کے نقش قدم سے (جو آپ کے پاس آیا تھا) ایک مٹھی (مٹی کی) بھر لی پھر میں نے اسے (بچھڑے کے قالب میں) ڈال دیا اور اسی طرح میرے نفس نے مجھے (یہ بات) بھلی کر دکھائی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me."

[20:94] | Qala yabnaomma la ta/khuthbilihyatee wala bira/see innee khasheetu an taqoolafarraqta bayna banee isra-eela walam tarqub qawlee | قال يا ابن أم لا تأخذ بلحيتي ولا برأسي إني خشيت أن تقول فرقت بين بني إسرائيل ولم ترقب قولي قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِي وَلَا بِرَأْسِي إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِي | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (ہارون علیہ السلام نے) کہا: اے میری ماں کے بیٹے! آپ نہ میری داڑھی پکڑیں اور نہ میرا سر، میں (سختی کرنے میں) اس بات سے ڈرتا تھا کہ کہیں آپ یہ (نہ) کہیں کہ تم نے بنی اسرائیل کے درمیان فرقہ بندی کردی ہے اور میرے قول کی نگہداشت نہیں کی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Aaron) replied: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard nor by (the hair of) my head! Truly I feared lest thou shouldst say, 'Thou has caused a division among the children of Israel, and thou didst not respect my word!'"

| 8. [20:98] | Innama ilahukumu Allahuallathee la ilaha illa huwa wasiAAakulla shay-in AAilman | إنما إلهكم الله الذي لا إله إلا هو وسع كل شيء علما إِنَّمَا إِلَهُكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (لوگو!) تمہارا معبود صرف (وہی) اللہ ہے جس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وہ ہر چیز کو (اپنے) علم کے احاطہ میں لئے ہوئے ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge.

[20:97] | Qala faithhab fa-innalaka fee alhayati an taqoola la misasawa-inna laka mawAAidan lan tukhlafahu waonthurila ilahika allathee thaltaAAalayhi AAakifan lanuharriqannahu thummalanansifannahu fee alyammi nasfan | قال فاذهب فإن لك في الحياة أن تقول لا مساس وإن لك موعدا لن تخلفه وانظر إلى إلهك الذي ظلت عليه عاكفا لنحرقنه ثم لننسفنه في اليم نسفا قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّنْ تُخْلَفَهُ وَانظُرْ إِلَى إِلَهِكَ الَّذِي ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُ فِي الْيَمِّ نَسْفًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (موسٰی علیہ السلام نے) فرمایا: پس تو (یہاں سے نکل کر) چلا جا چنانچہ تیرے لئے (ساری) زندگی میں یہ (سزا) ہے کہ تو (ہر کسی کو یہی) کہتا رہے: (مجھے) نہ چھونا (مجھے نہ چھونا)، اور بیشک تیرے لئے ایک اور وعدۂ (عذاب) بھی ہے جس کی ہرگز خلاف ورزی نہ ہوگی، اور تو اپنے اس (من گھڑت) معبود کی طرف دیکھ جس (کی پوجا) پر تو جم کر بیٹھا رہا، ہم اسے ضرور جلا ڈالیں گے پھر ہم اس (کی راکھ) کو ضرور دریا میں اچھی طرح بکھیر دیں گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!"

| 10. [20:99] | Kathalika naqussu AAalayka minanba-i ma qad sabaqa waqad ataynakamin ladunna thikran | كذلك نقص عليك من أنباء ما قد سبق وقد آتيناك من لدنا ذكرا كَذَلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنبَاءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَ وَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ مِن لَّدُنَّا ذِكْرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس طرح ہم آپ کو (اے حبیبِ معظّم!) ان (قوموں) کی خبریں سناتے ہیں جو گزر چکی ہیں اور بیشک ہم نے آپ کو اپنی خاص جناب سے ذکر (یعنی نصیحت نامہ) عطا فرمایا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence.

| 11. [20:100] | Man aAArada AAanhu fa-innahu yahmiluyawma alqiyamati wizran | من أعرض عنه فإنه يحمل يوم القيامة وزرا مَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وِزْرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جو شخص اس سے روگردانی کرے گا تو بیشک وہ قیامت کے دن سخت بوجھ اٹھائے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment;

| Words | |من - Whoever| أعرض - turns away| عنه - from it,| فإنه - then indeed, he| يحمل - will bear| يوم - (on the) Day| القيامة - (of) Resurrection| وزرا - a burden.| | ||||||
| 12. [20:101] | Khalideena feehi wasaa lahumyawma alqiyamati himlan | خالدين فيه وساء لهم يوم القيامة حملا خَالِدِينَ فِيهِ وَسَاءَ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حِمْلًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ اس (عذاب) میں ہمیشہ (پڑے) رہیں گے، اور ان کے لئے قیامت کے دن بہت ہی بُرا بوجھ ہوگا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,-

| Words | |خالدين - Abiding forever| فيه - in it,| وساء - and evil| لهم - for them| يوم - (on the) Day| القيامة - (of) the Resurrection| حملا - (as) a load| | ||||||
| 13. [20:102] | Yawma yunfakhu fee alssooriwanahshuru almujrimeena yawma-ithin zurqan | يوم ينفخ في الصور ونحشر المجرمين يومئذ زرقا يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ وَنَحْشُرُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ زُرْقًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جس دن صور پھونکا جائے گا اور اس دن ہم مجرموں کو یوں جمع کریں گے کہ ان کے جسم اور آنکھیں (شدتِ خوف اور اندھے پن کے باعث) نیلگوں ہوں گی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The Day when the Trumpet will be sounded: that Day, We shall gather the sinful, blear-eyed (with terror).

| Words | |يوم - (The) Day| ينفخ - will be blown| في - in| الصور - the Trumpet,| ونحشر - and We will gather| المجرمين - the criminals,| يومئذ - that Day,| زرقا - blue-eyed.| | ||||||
| 14. [20:103] | Yatakhafatoona baynahum in labithtumilla AAashran | يتخافتون بينهم إن لبثتم إلا عشرا يَتَخَافَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا عَشْرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | آپس میں چپکے چپکے باتیں کرتے ہوں گے کہ تم دنیا میں مشکل سے دس دن ہی ٹھہرے ہوگے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | In whispers will they consult each other: "Yet tarried not longer than ten (Days);

| Words | |يتخافتون - They are murmuring| بينهم - among themselves,| إن - "Not| لبثتم - you remained| إلا - except (for)| عشرا - ten."| | ||||||
| 15. [20:104] | Nahnu aAAlamu bima yaqooloonaith yaqoolu amthaluhum tareeqatan in labithtum illayawman | نحن أعلم بما يقولون إذ يقول أمثلهم طريقة إن لبثتم إلا يوما نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذْ يَقُولُ أَمْثَلُهُمْ طَرِيقَةً إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا يَوْمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ہم خوب جانتے ہیں وہ جو کچھ کہہ رہے ہوں گے جبکہ ان میں سے ایک عقل و عمل میں بہتر شخص کہے گا کہ تم تو ایک دن کے سوا (دنیا میں) ٹھہرے ہی نہیں ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!"

| 16. [20:105] | Wayas-aloonaka AAani aljibali faqulyansifuha rabbee nasfan | ويسألونك عن الجبال فقل ينسفها ربي نسفا وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنسِفُهَا رَبِّي نَسْفًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور آپ سے یہ لوگ پہاڑوں کی نسبت سوال کرتے ہیں، سو فرمادیجئے: میرا رب انہیں ریزہ ریزہ کر کے اڑا دے گا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They ask thee concerning the Mountains: say, "My Lord will uproot them and scatter them as dust;
| ||||||
| Words | |ويسألونك - And they ask you| عن - about| الجبال - the mountains,| فقل - so say,| ينسفها - "Will blast them| ربي - my Lord| نسفا - (into) particles.| | ||||||
| 17. [20:107] | La tara feeha AAiwajanwala amtan | لا ترى فيها عوجا ولا أمتا لَّا تَرَى فِيهَا عِوَجًا وَلَا أَمْتًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جس میں آپ نہ کوئی پستی دیکھیں گے نہ کوئی بلندی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Nothing crooked or curved wilt thou see in their place."
| ||||||
| Words | |لا - Not| ترى - you will see| فيها - in it| عوجا - any crookedness| ولا - and not| أمتا - any curve."| | ||||||

[20:108] | Yawma-ithin yattabiAAoona alddaAAiyala AAiwaja lahu wakhashaAAati al-aswatu lilrrahmanifala tasmaAAu illa hamsan | يومئذ يتبعون الداعي لا عوج له وخشعت الأصوات للرحمن فلا تسمع إلا همسا يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَّبِعُونَ الدَّاعِيَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُ وَخَشَعَتِ الْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس دن لوگ پکارنے والے کے پیچھے چلتے جائیں گے اس (کے پیچھے چلنے) میں کوئی کجی نہیں ہوگی، اور (خدائے) رحمان کے جلال سے سب آوازیں پست ہوجائیں گی پس تم ہلکی سی آہٹ کے سوا کچھ نہ سنوگے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | On that Day will they follow the Caller (straight): no crookedness (can they show) him: all sounds shall humble themselves in the Presence of (Allah) Most Gracious: nothing shalt thou hear but the tramp of their feet (as they march).

| Words | |يومئذ - On that Day| يتبعون - they will follow| الداعي - the caller,| لا - no| عوج - deviation| له - from it.| وخشعت - And (will be) humbled| الأصوات - the voices| للرحمن - for the Most Gracious,| فلا - so not| تسمع - you will hear| إلا - except| همسا - a faint sound.| | ||||||
| 19. [20:109] | Yawma-ithin la tanfaAAu alshshafaAAatuilla man athina lahu alrrahmanuwaradiya lahu qawlan | يومئذ لا تنفع الشفاعة إلا من أذن له الرحمن ورضي له قولا يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا تَنفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَنُ وَرَضِيَ لَهُ قَوْلًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اس دن سفارش سود مند نہ ہوگی سوائے اس شخص (کی سفارش) کے جسے (خدائے) رحمان نے اذن (و اجازت) دے دی ہے اور جس کی بات سے وہ راضی ہوگیا ہے (جیسا کہ انبیاء و مرسلین، اولیاء، متقین، معصوم بچوں اور دیگر کئی بندوں کا شفاعت کرنا ثابت ہے) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | On that Day shall no intercession avail except for those for whom permission has been granted by (Allah) Most Gracious and whose word is acceptable to Him.

| 20. [20:110] | YaAAlamu ma bayna aydeehim wamakhalfahum wala yuheetoona bihi AAilman | يعلم ما بين أيديهم وما خلفهم ولا يحيطون به علما يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِ عِلْمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ ان (سب چیزوں) کو جانتا ہے جو ان کے آگے ہیں اور جو ان کے پیچھے ہیں اور وہ (اپنے) علم سے اس (کے علم) کا احاطہ نہیں کرسکتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | He knows what (appears to His creatures as) before or after or behind them: but they shall not compass it with their knowledge.

| 21. [20:111] | WaAAanati alwujoohu lilhayyialqayyoomi waqad khaba man hamala thulman | وعنت الوجوه للحي القيوم وقد خاب من حمل ظلما وَعَنَتِ الْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَيِّ الْقَيُّومِ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (سب) چہرے اس ہمیشہ زندہ (اور) قائم رہنے والے (رب) کے حضور جھک جائیں گے، اور بیشک وہ شخص نامراد ہوگا جس نے ظلم کا بوجھ اٹھا لیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (All) faces shall be humbled before (Him) - the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal: hopeless indeed will be the man that carries iniquity (on his back).

| 22. [20:112] | Waman yaAAmal mina alssalihatiwahuwa mu/minun fala yakhafu thulmanwala hadman | ومن يعمل من الصالحات وهو مؤمن فلا يخاف ظلما ولا هضما وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَا يَخَافُ ظُلْمًا وَلَا هَضْمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو شخص نیک عمل کرتا ہے اور وہ صاحبِ ایمان بھی ہے تو اسے نہ کسی ظلم کا خوف ہوگا اور نہ نقصان کا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But he who works deeds of righteousness, and has faith, will have no fear of harm nor of any curtailment (of what is his due).

[20:113] | Wakathalika anzalnahu qur-ananAAarabiyyan wasarrafna feehi mina alwaAAeedilaAAallahum yattaqoona aw yuhdithu lahum thikran | وكذلك أنزلناه قرآنا عربيا وصرفنا فيه من الوعيد لعلهم يتقون أو يحدث لهم ذكرا وَكَذَلِكَ أَنزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اسی طرح ہم نے اس (آخری وحی) کو عربی زبان میں (بشکلِ) قرآن اتارا ہے اور ہم نے اس میں (عذاب سے) ڈرانے کی باتیں بار بار (مختلف طریقوں سے) بیان کی ہیں تاکہ وہ پرہیزگار بن جائیں یا (یہ قرآن) ان (کے دلوں) میں یادِ (آخرت یا قبولِ نصیحت کا جذبہ) پیدا کردے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Thus have We sent this down - an arabic Qur'an - and explained therein in detail some of the warnings, in order that they may fear Allah, or that it may cause their remembrance (of Him).

[20:114] | FataAAala Allahualmaliku alhaqqu wala taAAjal bialqur-animin qabli an yuqda ilayka wahyuhu waqul rabbizidnee AAilman | فتعالى الله الملك الحق ولا تعجل بالقرآن من قبل أن يقضى إليك وحيه وقل رب زدني علما فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَى إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس اللہ بلند شان والا ہے وہی بادشاہِ حقیقی ہے، اور آپ قرآن (کے پڑھنے) میں جلدی نہ کیا کریں قبل اس کے کہ اس کی وحی آپ پر پوری اتر جائے، اور آپ (رب کے حضور یہ) عرض کیا کریں کہ اے میرے رب! مجھے علم میں اور بڑھا دے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | High above all is Allah, the King, the Truth! Be not in haste with the Qur'an before its revelation to thee is completed, but say, "O my Lord! advance me in knowledge."

| 25. [20:115] | Walaqad AAahidna ila adamamin qablu fanasiya walam najid lahu AAazman | ولقد عهدنا إلى آدم من قبل فنسي ولم نجد له عزما وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَا إِلَى آدَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِيَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ عَزْمًا | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور درحقیقت ہم نے اس سے (بہت) پہلے آدم (علیہ السلام) کو تاکیدی حکم فرمایا تھا سو وہ بھول گئے اور ہم نے ان میں بالکل (نافرمانی کا کوئی) ارادہ نہیں پایا (یہ محض ایک بھول تھی) | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | We had already, beforehand, taken the covenant of Adam, but he forgot: and We found on his part no firm resolve.

| 26. [20:116] | Wa-ith qulna lilmala-ikatiosjudoo li-adama fasajadoo illa ibleesa aba | وإذ قلنا للملائكة اسجدوا لآدم فسجدوا إلا إبليس أبى وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور (وہ وقت یاد کریں) جب ہم نے فرشتوں سے فرمایا: تم آدم (علیہ السلام) کو سجدہ کرو تو انہوں نے سجدہ کیا سوائے ابلیس کے، اس نے انکار کیا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam", they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused.

| Words | |وإذ - And when| قلنا - We said| للملائكة - to the Angels,| اسجدوا - "Prostrate| لآدم - to Adam,"| فسجدوا - then they prostrated,| إلا - except| إبليس - Iblis;| أبى - he refused.| | ||||||
| 27. [20:117] | Faqulna ya adamu innahatha AAaduwwun laka walizawjika falayukhrijannakuma mina aljannati fatashqa | فقلنا يا آدم إن هذا عدو لك ولزوجك فلا يخرجنكما من الجنة فتشقى فَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ إِنَّ هَذَا عَدُوٌّ لَّكَ وَلِزَوْجِكَ فَلَا يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَتَشْقَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر ہم نے فرمایا: اے آدم! بیشک یہ (شیطان) تمہارا اور تمہاری بیوی کا دشمن ہے، سو یہ کہیں تم دونوں کو جنت سے نکلوا نہ دے پھر تم مشقت میں پڑ جاؤ گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Then We said: "O Adam! verily, this is an enemy to thee and thy wife: so let him not get you both out of the Garden, so that thou art landed in misery.

| Words | |فقلنا - Then We said,| يا - O| آدم - "O Adam!| إن - Indeed,| هذا - this| عدو - (is) an enemy| لك - to you| ولزوجك - and to your wife.| فلا - So not| يخرجنكما - (let) him drive you both| من - from| الجنة - Paradise| فتشقى - so (that) you would suffer.| | ||||||
| 28. [20:118] | Inna laka alla tajooAAa feehawala taAAra | إن لك ألا تجوع فيها ولا تعرى إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْرَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | بیشک تمہارے لئے اس (جنت) میں یہ (راحت) ہے کہ تمہیں نہ بھوک لگے گی اور نہ برہنہ ہوگے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "There is therein (enough provision) for thee not to go hungry nor to go naked,

| Words | |إن - Indeed,| لك - for you| ألا - that not| تجوع - you will be hungry| فيها - therein| ولا - and not| تعرى - you will be unclothed.| | ||||||
| 29. [20:119] | Waannaka la tathmaofeeha wala tadha | وأنك لا تظمأ فيها ولا تضحى وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَأُ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْحَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہ کہ تمہیں نہ یہاں پیاس لگے گی اور نہ دھوپ ستائے گی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "Nor to suffer from thirst, nor from the sun's heat."

| Words | |وأنك - And that you| لا - not| تظمأ - will suffer from thirst| فيها - therein| ولا - and not| تضحى - exposed to the sun's heat."| | ||||||

[20:120] | Fawaswasa ilayhi alshshaytanuqala ya adamu hal adulluka AAalashajarati alkhuldi wamulkin la yabla | فوسوس إليه الشيطان قال يا آدم هل أدلك على شجرة الخلد وملك لا يبلى فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ يَا آدَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى شَجَرَةِ الْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍ لَّا يَبْلَى | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پس شیطان نے انہیں (ایک) خیال دلا دیا وہ کہنے لگا: اے آدم! کیا میں تمہیں (قربِ الٰہی کی جنت میں) دائمی زندگی بسر کرنے کا درخت بتا دوں اور (ایسی ملکوتی) بادشاہت (کا راز) بھی جسے نہ زوال آئے گا نہ فنا ہوگی | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But Satan whispered evil to him: he said, "O Adam! shall I lead thee to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that never decays?"
