| بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ |
| 1. [16:28] | Allatheena tatawaffahumu almala-ikatuthalimee anfusihim faalqawoo alssalamama kunna naAAmalu min soo-in bala inna AllahaAAaleemun bima kuntum taAAmaloona |  الذين تتوفاهم الملائكة ظالمي أنفسهم فألقوا السلم ما كنا نعمل من سوء بلى إن الله عليم بما كنتم تعملونالَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّاهُمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ ظَالِمِي أَنفُسِهِمْ فَأَلْقَوُاْ السَّلَمَ مَا كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ مِن سُوءٍ بَلَى إِنَّ اللّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ | |||||

| Tahir ul Qadri | جن کی روحیں فرشتے اس حال میں قبض کرتے ہیں کہ وہ اپنی جانوں پر (بدستور) ظلم کئے جا رہے ہوں، سو وہ (روزِ قیامت) اطاعت و فرمانبرداری کا اظہار کریں گے (اور کہیں گے:) ہم (دنیا میں) کوئی برائی نہیں کیا کرتے تھے، کیوں نہیں بیشک اللہ خوب جانتا ہے جو کچھ تم کیا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | "(Namely) those whose lives the angels take in a state of wrong-doing to their own souls." Then would they offer submission (with the pretence), "We did no evil (knowingly)." (The angels will reply), "Nay, but verily Allah knoweth all that ye did;

| 2. [16:34] | Faasabahum sayyi-atu maAAamiloo wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihiyastahzi-oona | فأصابهم سيئات ما عملوا وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا عَمِلُواْ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | سو جو اَعمال انہوں نے کئے تھے انہی کی سزائیں ان کو پہنچیں اور اسی (عذاب) نے انہیں آگھیرا جس کا وہ مذاق اڑایا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | But the evil results of their deeds overtook them, and that very (Wrath) at which they had scoffed hemmed them in.

[16:30] | Waqeela lillatheena ittaqaw mathaanzala rabbukum qaloo khayran lillatheena ahsanoofee hathihi alddunya hasanatun waladarual-akhirati khayrun walaniAAma daru almuttaqeena | وقيل للذين اتقوا ماذا أنزل ربكم قالوا خيرا للذين أحسنوا في هذه الدنيا حسنة ولدار الآخرة خير ولنعم دار المتقين وَقِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْاْ مَاذَا أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ قَالُواْ خَيْرًا لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ وَلَدَارُ الْآخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ وَلَنِعْمَ دَارُ الْمُتَّقِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور پرہیزگار لوگوں سے کہا جائے کہ تمہارے رب نے کیا نازل فرمایا ہے؟ وہ کہتے ہیں: (دنیا و آخرت کی) بھلائی (اتاری ہے)، ان لوگوں کے لئے جو نیکی کرتے رہے اس دنیا میں (بھی) بھلائی ہے، اور آخرت کا گھر تو ضرور ہی بہتر ہے، اور پرہیزگاروں کا گھر کیا ہی خوب ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To the righteous (when) it is said, "What is it that your Lord has revealed?" they say, "All that is good." To those who do good, there is good in this world, and the Home of the Hereafter is even better and excellent indeed is the Home of the righteous,-

| Words | |وقيل - And it will be said| للذين - to those who| اتقوا - fear Allah,| ماذا - "What| أنزل - has your Lord sent down?"| ربكم - has your Lord sent down?"| قالوا - They will say,| خيرا - "Good."| للذين - For those who| أحسنوا - do good| في - in| هذه - this| الدنيا - world| حسنة - (is) a good,| ولدار - and the home| الآخرة - of the Hereafter| خير - (is) better.| ولنعم - And surely excellent| دار - (is) the home| المتقين - (of) the righteous.| | ||||||
| 4. [16:37] | In tahris AAala hudahumfa-inna Allaha la yahdee man yudillu wamalahum min nasireena | إن تحرص على هداهم فإن الله لا يهدي من يضل وما لهم من ناصرين إِن تَحْرِصْ عَلَى هُدَاهُمْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي مَن يُضِلُّ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّاصِرِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اگر آپ ان کے ہدایت پر آجانے کی شدید طلب رکھتے ہیں تو (آپ اپنی طبیعتِ مطہرہ پر اس قدر بوجھ نہ لائیں) بیشک اللہ جسے گمراہ ٹھہرا دیتا ہے اسے ہدایت نہیں فرماتا اور ان کے لئے کوئی مددگار نہیں ہوتا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | If thou art anxious for their guidance, yet Allah guideth not such as He leaves to stray, and there is none to help them.

[16:33] | Hal yanthuroona illa anta/tiyahumu almala-ikatu aw ya/tiya amru rabbika kathalikafaAAala allatheena min qablihim wama thalamahumuAllahu walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona | هل ينظرون إلا أن تأتيهم الملائكة أو يأتي أمر ربك كذلك فعل الذين من قبلهم وما ظلمهم الله ولكن كانوا أنفسهم يظلمون هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلاَّ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِيَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ كَذَلِكَ فَعَلَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ اللّهُ وَلـكِن كَانُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یہ اور کس چیز کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں سوائے اِس کے کہ ِان کے پاس فرشتے آجائیں یا آپ کے رب کا حکمِ (عذاب) آپہنچے، یہی کچھ ان لوگوں نے (بھی) کیا تھا جو اِن سے پہلے تھے، اور اللہ نے اُن پر ظلم نہیں کیا تھا لیکن وہ خود ہی اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کیا کرتے تھے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Do the (ungodly) wait until the angels come to them, or there comes the Command of thy Lord (for their doom)? So did those who went before them. But Allah wronged them not: nay, they wronged their own souls.

[16:39] | Liyubayyina lahumu allatheeyakhtalifoona feehi waliyaAAlama allatheena kafarooannahum kanoo kathibeena | ليبين لهم الذي يختلفون فيه وليعلم الذين كفروا أنهم كانوا كاذبين لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ الَّذِي يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ كَاذِبِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (مُردوں کا اٹھایا جانا اس لئے ہے) تاکہ ان کے لئے وہ (حق) بات واضح کر دے جس میں وہ لوگ اختلاف کرتے ہیں اور یہ کہ کافر لوگ جان لیں کہ حقیقت میں وہی جھوٹے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (They must be raised up), in order that He may manifest to them the truth of that wherein they differ, and that the rejecters of Truth may realise that they had indeed (surrendered to) Falsehood.

[16:35] | Waqala allatheena ashrakoo lawshaa Allahu ma AAabadna min doonihimin shay-in nahnu wala abaonawala harramna min doonihi min shay-in kathalikafaAAala allatheena min qablihim fahal AAala alrrusuliilla albalaghu almubeenu | وقال الذين أشركوا لو شاء الله ما عبدنا من دونه من شيء نحن ولا آباؤنا ولا حرمنا من دونه من شيء كذلك فعل الذين من قبلهم فهل على الرسل إلا البلاغ المبين وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ لَوْ شَاءَ اللّهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِن دُونِهِ مِن شَيْءٍ نَّحْنُ وَلاَ آبَاؤُنَا وَلاَ حَرَّمْنَا مِن دُونِهِ مِن شَيْءٍ كَذَلِكَ فَعَلَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَهَلْ عَلَى الرُّسُلِ إِلاَّ الْبَلاغُ الْمُبِينُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور مشرک لوگ کہتے ہیں: اگر اللہ چاہتا تو ہم اس کے سوا کسی بھی چیز کی پرستش نہ کرتے، نہ ہی ہم اور نہ ہمارے باپ دادا، اور نہ ہم اس کے (حکم کے) بغیر کسی چیز کو حرام قرار دیتے، یہی کچھ ان لوگوں نے (بھی) کیا تھا جو اِن سے پہلے تھے، تو کیا رسولوں کے ذمہ (اللہ کے پیغام اور احکام) واضح طور پر پہنچا دینے کے علاوہ بھی کچھ ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | The worshippers of false gods say: "If Allah had so willed, we should not have worshipped aught but Him - neither we nor our fathers,- nor should we have prescribed prohibitions other than His." So did those who went before them. But what is the mission of messengers but to preach the Clear Message?

| 8. [16:36] | Walaqad baAAathna fee kulli ommatinrasoolan ani oAAbudoo Allaha waijtaniboo alttaghootafaminhum man hada Allahu waminhum man haqqatAAalayhi alddalalatu faseeroo fee al-ardifaonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatualmukaththibeena | ولقد بعثنا في كل أمة رسولا أن اعبدوا الله واجتنبوا الطاغوت فمنهم من هدى الله ومنهم من حقت عليه الضلالة فسيروا في الأرض فانظروا كيف كان عاقبة المكذبين وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولاً أَنِ اعْبُدُواْ اللّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُواْ الطَّاغُوتَ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى اللّهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الضَّلاَلَةُ فَسِيرُواْ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور بیشک ہم نے ہر امت میں ایک رسول بھیجا کہ (لوگو) تم اللہ کی عبادت کرو اور طاغوت (یعنی شیطان اور بتوں کی اطاعت و پرستش) سے اجتناب کرو، سو اُن میں بعض وہ ہوئے جنہیں اللہ نے ہدایت فرما دی اور اُن میں بعض وہ ہوئے جن پر گمراہی (ٹھیک) ثابت ہوئی، سو تم لوگ زمین میں سیر و سیاحت کرو اور دیکھو کہ جھٹلانے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | For We assuredly sent amongst every People a messenger, (with the Command), "Serve Allah, and eschew Evil": of the People were some whom Allah guided, and some on whom error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who denied (the Truth).

| Words | |ولقد - And certainly,| بعثنا - We sent| في - into| كل - every| أمة - nation| رسولا - a Messenger,| أن - that,| اعبدوا - "Worship| الله - Allah,| واجتنبوا - and avoid| الطاغوت - the false deities."| فمنهم - Then among them| من - (were some) whom| هدى - Allah guided,| الله - Allah guided,| ومنهم - and among them| من - (were) some| حقت - was justified| عليه - on them| الضلالة - the straying.| فسيروا - So travel| في - in| الأرض - the earth| فانظروا - and see| كيف - how| كان - was| عاقبة - the end| المكذبين - (of) the deniers.| | ||||||
| 9. [16:38] | Waaqsamoo biAllahi jahda aymanihimla yabAAathu Allahu man yamootu bala waAAdanAAalayhi haqqan walakinna akthara alnnasila yaAAlamoona | وأقسموا بالله جهد أيمانهم لا يبعث الله من يموت بلى وعدا عليه حقا ولكن أكثر الناس لا يعلمون وَأَقْسَمُواْ بِاللّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ لاَ يَبْعَثُ اللّهُ مَن يَمُوتُ بَلَى وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا وَلَـكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہ لوگ بڑی شدّ و مد سے اللہ کی قَسمیں کھاتے ہیں کہ جو مَر جائے اللہ اسے (دوبارہ) نہیں اٹھائے گا، کیوں نہیں اس کے ذمۂ کرم پر سچا وعدہ ہے لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that Allah will not raise up those who die: Nay, but it is a promise (binding) on Him in truth: but most among mankind realise it not.

| 10. [16:40] | Innama qawluna lishay-in ithaaradnahu an naqoola lahu kun fayakoonu | إنما قولنا لشيء إذا أردناه أن نقول له كن فيكون إِنَّمَا قَوْلُنَا لِشَيْءٍ إِذَا أَرَدْنَاهُ أَن نَّقُولَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ہمارا فرمان تو کسی چیز کے لئے صرف اِسی قدر ہوتا ہے کہ جب ہم اُس (کو وجود میں لانے) کا ارادہ کرتے ہیں تو ہم اُسے فرماتے ہیں: ”ہو جا“ پس وہ ہو جاتی ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | For to anything which We have willed, We but say the word, "Be", and it is.

[16:41] | Waallatheena hajaroofee Allahi min baAAdi ma thulimoolanubawwi-annahum fee alddunya hasanatanwalaajru al-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoona | والذين هاجروا في الله من بعد ما ظلموا لنبوئنهم في الدنيا حسنة ولأجر الآخرة أكبر لو كانوا يعلمون وَالَّذِينَ هَاجَرُواْ فِي اللّهِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَلَأَجْرُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُواْ يَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جنہوں نے اللہ کی راہ میں ہجرت کی اس کے بعد کہ ان پر (طرح طرح کے) ظلم توڑے گئے تو ہم ضرور انہیں دنیا (ہی) میں بہتر ٹھکانا دیں گے، اور آخرت کا اجر تو یقیناً بہت بڑا ہے، کاش! وہ (اس راز کو) جانتے ہوتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, after suffering oppression,- We will assuredly give a goodly home in this world; but truly the reward of the Hereafter will be greater. If they only realised (this)!

| 12. [16:42] | Allatheena sabaroo waAAalarabbihim yatawakkaloona | الذين صبروا وعلى ربهم يتوكلون الَّذِينَ صَبَرُواْ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | جن لوگوں نے صبر کیا اور اپنے رب پر توکل کئے رکھتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (They are) those who persevere in patience, and put their trust on their Lord.

| Words | |الذين - Those who| صبروا - (are) patient| وعلى - and on| ربهم - their Lord| يتوكلون - they put their trust.| | ||||||

[16:43] | Wama arsalna min qablika illarijalan noohee ilayhim fais-aloo ahla alththikriin kuntum la taAAlamoona | وما أرسلنا من قبلك إلا رجالا نوحي إليهم فاسألوا أهل الذكر إن كنتم لا تعلمون وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلاَّ رِجَالاً نُّوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ فَاسْأَلُواْ أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور ہم نے آپ سے پہلے بھی مَردوں ہی کو رسول بنا کر بھیجا جن کی طرف ہم وحی بھیجتے تھے سو تم اہلِ ذکر سے پوچھ لیا کرو اگر تمہیں خود (کچھ) معلوم نہ ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And before thee also the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: if ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message.

[16:44] | Bialbayyinati waalzzuburiwaanzalna ilayka alththikra litubayyina lilnnasima nuzzila ilayhim walaAAallahum yatafakkaroona | بالبينات والزبر وأنزلنا إليك الذكر لتبين للناس ما نزل إليهم ولعلهم يتفكرون بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالزُّبُرِ وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (انہیں بھی) واضح دلائل اور کتابوں کے ساتھ (بھیجا تھا)، اور (اے نبیِ مکرّم!) ہم نے آپ کی طرف ذکرِ عظیم (قرآن) نازل فرمایا ہے تاکہ آپ لوگوں کے لئے وہ (پیغام اور احکام) خوب واضح کر دیں جو ان کی طرف اتارے گئے ہیں اور تاکہ وہ غور و فکر کریں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (We sent them) with Clear Signs and Books of dark prophecies; and We have sent down unto thee (also) the Message; that thou mayest explain clearly to men what is sent for them, and that they may give thought.

[16:45] | Afaamina allatheena makaroo alssayyi-atian yakhsifa Allahu bihimu al-arda aw ya/tiyahumualAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroona | أفأمن الذين مكروا السيئات أن يخسف الله بهم الأرض أو يأتيهم العذاب من حيث لا يشعرون أَفَأَمِنَ الَّذِينَ مَكَرُواْ السَّيِّئَاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ اللّهُ بِهِمُ الْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا وہ برے مکر و فریب کرنے والے لوگ اس بات سے بے خوف ہو گئے ہیں کہ اللہ انہیں زمین میں دھنسا دے یا (کسی) ایسی جگہ سے ان پر عذاب بھیج دے جس کا انہیں کوئی خیال بھی نہ ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Do then those who devise evil (plots) feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them up, or that the Wrath will not seize them from directions they little perceive?-

| 16. [16:46] | Aw ya/khuthahum fee taqallubihim famahum bimuAAjizeena | أو يأخذهم في تقلبهم فما هم بمعجزين أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِي تَقَلُّبِهِمْ فَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یا ان کی نقل و حرکت (سفر اور شغلِ تجارت) کے دوران ہی انہیں پکڑ لے سو وہ اللہ کو عاجز نہیں کر سکتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Or that He may not call them to account in the midst of their goings to and fro, without a chance of their frustrating Him?-

| 17. [16:47] | Aw ya/khuthahum AAalatakhawwufin fa-inna rabbakum laraoofun raheemun | أو يأخذهم على تخوف فإن ربكم لرءوف رحيم أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَى تَخَوُّفٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرؤُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | یا انہیں ان کے خوف زدہ ہونے پر پکڑ لے، تو بیشک تمہارا رب بڑا شفیق نہایت مہربان ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Or that He may not call them to account by a process of slow wastage - for thy Lord is indeed full of kindness and mercy.

| Words | |أو - Or| يأخذهم - that He may seize them| على - with| تخوف - a gradual wasting| فإن - But indeed,| ربكم - your Lord| لرءوف - (is) surely Full of Kindness,| رحيم - Most Merciful.| | ||||||

[16:48] | Awa lam yaraw ila ma khalaqaAllahu min shay-in yatafayyao thilaluhuAAani alyameeni waalshshama-ili sujjadan lillahiwahum dakhiroona | أولم يروا إلى ما خلق الله من شيء يتفيأ ظلاله عن اليمين والشمائل سجدا لله وهم داخرون أَوَ لَمْ يَرَوْاْ إِلَى مَا خَلَقَ اللّهُ مِن شَيْءٍ يَتَفَيَّأُ ظِلاَلُهُ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَالْشَّمَآئِلِ سُجَّدًا لِّلّهِ وَهُمْ دَاخِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | کیا انہوں نے ان (سایہ دار) چیزوں کی طرف نہیں دیکھا جو اللہ نے پیدا فرمائی ہیں (کہ) ان کے سائے دائیں اور بائیں اَطراف سے اللہ کے لئے سجدہ کرتے ہوئے پھرتے رہتے ہیں اور وہ (درحقیقت) طاعت و عاجزی کا اظہار کرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Do they not look at Allah's creation, (even) among (inanimate) things,- How their (very) shadows turn round, from the right and the left, prostrating themselves to Allah, and that in the humblest manner?

[16:49] | Walillahi yasjudu ma fee alssamawatiwama fee al-ardi min dabbatin waalmala-ikatuwahum la yastakbiroona | ولله يسجد ما في السماوات وما في الأرض من دابة والملائكة وهم لا يستكبرون وَلِلّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ مِن دَآبَّةٍ وَالْمَلَآئِكَةُ وَهُمْ لاَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو کچھ آسمانوں میں اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے جملہ جاندار اور فرشتے، اللہ (ہی) کو سجدہ کرتے ہیں اور وہ (ذرا بھی) غرور و تکبر نہیں کرتے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And to Allah doth obeisance all that is in the heavens and on earth, whether moving (living) creatures or the angels: for none are arrogant (before their Lord).

| 20. [16:50] | Yakhafoona rabbahum min fawqihimwayafAAaloona ma yu/maroona | يخافون ربهم من فوقهم ويفعلون ما يؤمرون يَخَافُونَ رَبَّهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ اپنے رب سے جو ان کے اوپر ہے ڈرتے رہتے ہیں اور جو حکم انہیں دیا جاتا ہے (اسے) بجا لاتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | They all revere their Lord, high above them, and they do all that they are commanded.

| Words | |يخافون - They fear| ربهم - their Lord| من - above them,| فوقهم - above them,| ويفعلون - and they do| ما - what| يؤمرون - they are commanded.| | ||||||
| 21. [16:51] | Waqala Allahu latattakhithoo ilahayni ithnayni innama huwailahun wahidun fa-iyyaya fairhabooni | وقال الله لا تتخذوا إلهين اثنين إنما هو إله واحد فإياي فارهبون وَقَالَ اللّهُ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ إِلَـهَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلهٌ وَاحِدٌ فَإيَّايَ فَارْهَبُونِ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور اللہ نے فرمایا ہے: تم دو معبود مت بناؤ، بیشک وہی (اللہ) معبودِ یکتا ہے، اور تم مجھ ہی سے ڈرتے رہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Allah has said: "Take not (for worship) two gods: for He is just One Allah: then fear Me (and Me alone)."

| Words | |وقال - And Allah has said,| الله - And Allah has said,| لا - "(Do) not| تتخذوا - take| إلهين - [two] gods| اثنين - two,| إنما - only| هو - He| إله - (is) God| واحد - One,| فإياي - so Me Alone| فارهبون - you fear [Me]."| | ||||||
| 22. [16:52] | Walahu ma fee alssamawatiwaal-ardi walahu alddeenu wasibanafaghayra Allahi tattaqoona | وله ما في السماوات والأرض وله الدين واصبا أفغير الله تتقون وَلَهُ مَا فِي الْسَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَهُ الدِّينُ وَاصِبًا أَفَغَيْرَ اللّهِ تَتَّقُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جو کچھ آسمانوں اور زمین میں ہے (سب) اسی کا ہے اور (سب کے لئے) اسی کی فرمانبرداری واجب ہے۔ تو کیا تم غیر اَز خدا (کسی) سے ڈرتے ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and on earth, and to Him is duty due always: then will ye fear other than Allah?

| Words | |وله - And to Him (belongs)| ما - whatever| في - (is) in| السماوات - the heavens| والأرض - and the earth| وله - and to Him| الدين - (is due) the worship| واصبا - constantly.| أفغير - Then is it other (than)| الله - Allah| تتقون - you fear?| | ||||||
| 23. [16:53] | Wama bikum min niAAmatin famina Allahithumma itha massakumu alddurru fa-ilayhitaj-aroona | وما بكم من نعمة فمن الله ثم إذا مسكم الضر فإليه تجأرون وَمَا بِكُم مِّن نِّعْمَةٍ فَمِنَ اللّهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا مَسَّكُمُ الضُّرُّ فَإِلَيْهِ تَجْأَرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور تمہیں جو نعمت بھی حاصل ہے سو وہ اللہ ہی کی جانب سے ہے، پھر جب تمہیں تکلیف پہنچتی ہے تو تم اسی کے آگے گریہ و زاری کرتے ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And ye have no good thing but is from Allah: and moreover, when ye are touched by distress, unto Him ye cry with groans;

| Words | |وما - And whatever| بكم - you have| من - of| نعمة - favor| فمن - (is) from| الله - Allah.| ثم - Then| إذا - when| مسكم - touches you| الضر - the adversity| فإليه - then to Him| تجأرون - you cry for help.| | ||||||
| 24. [16:54] | Thumma itha kashafa alddurraAAankum itha fareequn minkum birabbihim yushrikoona | ثم إذا كشف الضر عنكم إذا فريق منكم بربهم يشركون ثُمَّ إِذَا كَشَفَ الضُّرَّ عَنكُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنكُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | پھر جب اللہ اس تکلیف کو تم سے دور فرما دیتا ہے تو تم میں سے ایک گروہ اس وقت اپنے رب سے شرک کرنے لگتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | Yet, when He removes the distress from you, behold! some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord-

| Words | |ثم - Then| إذا - when| كشف - He removes| الضر - the adversity| عنكم - from you,| إذا - behold!| فريق - A group| منكم - of you| بربهم - with their Lord| يشركون - associate others,| | ||||||
| 25. [16:55] | Liyakfuroo bima ataynahumfatamattaAAoo fasawfa taAAlamoona | ليكفروا بما آتيناهم فتمتعوا فسوف تعلمون لِيَكْفُرُواْ بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ فَتَمَتَّعُواْ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | (یہ کفر و شرک اس لئے) تاکہ وہ ان (نعمتوں) کی ناشکری کریں جو ہم نے انہیں عطا کر رکھی ہیں، پس (اے مشرکو! چند روزہ) فائدہ اٹھا لو پھر تم عنقریب (اپنے انجام کو) جان لو گے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | (As if) to show their ingratitude for the favours we have bestowed on them! then enjoy (your brief day): but soon will ye know (your folly)!

| Words | |ليكفروا - So as to deny| بما - that which| آتيناهم - We have given them.| فتمتعوا - Then enjoy yourselves,| فسوف - soon| تعلمون - you will know.| | ||||||

[16:56] | WayajAAaloona lima layaAAlamoona naseeban mimma razaqnahum taAllahilatus-alunna AAamma kuntum taftaroona | ويجعلون لما لا يعلمون نصيبا مما رزقناهم تالله لتسألن عما كنتم تفترون وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِمَا لاَ يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبًا مِّمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ تَاللّهِ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَفْتَرُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہ ان (بتوں) کے لئے جن (کی حقیقت) کو وہ خود بھی نہیں جانتے اس رزق میں سے حصہ مقرر کرتے ہیں جو ہم نے انہیں عطا کر رکھا ہے۔ اللہ کی قسم! تم سے اس بہتان کی نسبت ضرور پوچھ گچھ کی جائے گی جو تم باندھا کرتے ہو | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And they (even) assign, to things they do not know, a portion out of that which We have bestowed for their sustenance! By Allah, ye shall certainly be called to account for your false inventions.

| Words | |ويجعلون - And they assign| لما - to what| لا - not| يعلمون - they know -| نصيبا - a portion,| مما - of what| رزقناهم - We have provided them.| تالله - By Allah| لتسألن - surely you will be asked| عما - about what| كنتم - you used (to)| تفترون - invent.| | ||||||
| 27. [16:57] | WayajAAaloona lillahi albanatisubhanahu walahum ma yashtahoona | ويجعلون لله البنات سبحانه ولهم ما يشتهون وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلّهِ الْبَنَاتِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَلَهُم مَّا يَشْتَهُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور یہ (کفار و مشرکین) اللہ کے لئے بیٹیاں مقرر کرتے ہیں وہ (اس سے) پاک ہے اور اپنے لئے وہ کچھ (یعنی بیٹے) جن کی وہ خواہش کرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | And they assign daughters for Allah! - Glory be to Him! - and for themselves (sons,- the issue) they desire!

| Words | |ويجعلون - And they assign| لله - to Allah| البنات - daughters.| سبحانه - Glory be to Him!| ولهم - And for them| ما - (is) what| يشتهون - they desire.| | ||||||
| 28. [16:58] | Wa-itha bushshira ahaduhum bialonthathalla wajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheemun | وإذا بشر أحدهم بالأنثى ظل وجهه مسودا وهو كظيم وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُمْ بِالْأُنثَى ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | اور جب ان میں سے کسی کو لڑکی (کی پیدائش) کی خبر سنائی جاتی ہے تو اس کا چہرہ سیاہ ہو جاتا ہے اور وہ غصہ سے بھر جاتا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | When news is brought to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!
| ||||||
| Words | |وإذا - And when| بشر - is given good news| أحدهم - (to) one of them| بالأنثى - of a female,| ظل - turns| وجهه - his face| مسودا - dark| وهو - and he| كظيم - suppresses grief.| | ||||||
| 29. [16:59] | Yatawara mina alqawmi minsoo-i ma bushshira bihi ayumsikuhu AAala hoonin amyadussuhu fee altturabi ala saa mayahkumoona | يتوارى من القوم من سوء ما بشر به أيمسكه على هون أم يدسه في التراب ألا ساء ما يحكمون يَتَوَارَى مِنَ الْقَوْمِ مِن سُوءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِ أَيُمْسِكُهُ عَلَى هُونٍ أَمْ يَدُسُّهُ فِي التُّرَابِ أَلاَ سَاءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | وہ لوگوں سے چُھپا پھرتا ہے (بزعمِ خویش) اس بری خبر کی وجہ سے جو اسے سنائی گئی ہے، (اب یہ سوچنے لگتا ہے کہ) آیا اسے ذلت و رسوائی کے ساتھ (زندہ) رکھے یا اسے مٹی میں دبا دے (یعنی زندہ درگور کر دے)، خبردار! کتنا برا فیصلہ ہے جو وہ کرتے ہیں | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and) contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on?

[16:60] | Lillatheena la yu/minoona bial-akhiratimathalu alssaw-i walillahi almathalu al-aAAlawahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu | للذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة مثل السوء ولله المثل الأعلى وهو العزيز الحكيم لِلَّذِينَ لاَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ مَثَلُ السَّوْءِ وَلِلّهِ الْمَثَلُ الْأَعْلَىَ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ | |||||
| Tahir ul Qadri | ان لوگوں کی جو آخرت پر ایمان نہیں رکھتے (یہ) نہایت بری صفت ہے، اور بلند تر صفت اللہ ہی کی ہے اور وہ غالب حکمت والا ہے | ||||||
| Yousuf Ali | To those who believe not in the Hereafter, applies the similitude of evil: to Allah applies the highest similitude: for He is the Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom.
